As promised and on time! Thanks for the review/playthrough. Glad you fared better than the Athenians and avoided the "Alcibiades gambit". LOL. Good stuff- I appreciate the discussion of what did/didnt work. deciding between this and Quebec- interested in both historically as a break from Eastern Front WWII games. keep up the great content.
I just received and unboxed this. Map looks great, as to be expected from a Worthington game. Looking forward to it. I'm excited based on your play through.
I've been there - a miraculous place. I always wondered why a Doric city built their largest temple to Athena, but it's still there, inside the cathedral.
Very cool Justin.. Nice job. My favourite of the three and looks like it's the best one...map looks great and it seems quite thematic. I can see Alexander's Siege of Tyre being another candidate for this game (system) perhaps. Feedback on any two player game you have using 414 Syracuse would be useful. Cheers
In my first game the Athenians had great luck in building their walls, but as time was running out had unbelievably bad luck and could not get a fleet pushed into the blockade slot. Very engaging though! My one disappointment is that the Syracusans can't be played solo. Everything is included to make it happen except the few extra cards needed for Syracusan leaders and Athenian Counterorders.
@@Justegarde If time is running out don't forget to check the conditions for scoring VP points. I would have tied with Syracuse but missed a point because I hadn't put a unit into Epipolae on the Plateau.

I was entirely unaware of this series of games. Thanks!
I have had my eye on this and based on your play through and comments I will order it.

Yeah, agreed. Though eager to play a face to face game to try them out.
