The choreography was created by John Neumeier. It's called "Nijinsky", which is the name of a ballet dancer of the early 20th century. In this video, Neumeier talks about his passion for Nijinsky, which maybe gives a few explanations on the piece: ua-cam.com/video/tJ7nQawWfKc/v-deo.html
OMG. VERY creepy. I really appreciate when art's done differently, and shown to be about more than looking pretty. Especially in ballet. Just waiting for someone to sneak a little hip hop-ballet fusion in the Prix. ;-)
Remy Mafia at least this is extremely tasteful contemporary. The competition is about growing dancers for professional companies and at the moment, no companies are doing hip hop so I doubt that they will bring it in.
Apparently , viewers miss the point entirely. She's trying to be funny. As usual, Americans don't understand irony. They don't know the meaning of the word.
There is absolutely no way that this piece is trying to be funny if you actually research it. The context is a girl being manipulated by two boys/men. It’s not funny.
Absolutely terrific, her emotional engagement and facial expression take this performance to a complitely different level...
