And getting translations done in the age of Google isn't a big thing. Most importantly, the singing is so magical that it just soars way above the lyrics. In pretty much the same manner as, say, the singing of the great Pt Mallikarjun Mansur or the incomparable M S Subbulakshmi... Regards

It's difficult to let go of previous attachments for such a iconic song. I don't understand technicalities, because I havent taken any training. But I thought, again, this is somewhat like a gavaiyya rendition in a mehfil... as opposed to the playback rendition of Rafi and Asha. The khuli awaz of Rafi ji is the playback character that this song needs. I have also heard SPB's rendition of this song, which is improvisation of the original voice. But it retains the flavour of the original song with some added shades.

Yes, I deleted the comment because when I re-read it myself, I felt some part of it will be misunderstood by Sanjeevani ji's admirers..(if someone happens to land there) I was saying, I also watched the Soul Lata show and it was indeed a show by Sanjeevani ji and Rahul ji was an invitee.. But I felt, in such (non classical) shows, the entertainment and expression (body language) takes center stage and Rahul ji must participate in those too to give his best to both worlds:-) He sang all those songs there which he had sung here in his comfort zone and actually took breath away with his opening line in "suno sajna"...! In my opinion, he should not completely avoid these shows:-) I did not get a feeling that he was "uncomfortable" I felt he was just with himself, and did not realize that he should smile like Sanjeevani ji was constantly doing:-)) Any way Rahul ji being so dear to all of us, we analyze in different ways... He does not need our analysis probably🙂

I wanted to re-emphasise on the journey Rahul ji's heart is looking for where he puts everything he has in his gifted bag 🎒. Rahul is very different than other classical singers of his generation and has the potential to create a new wave in the world of music. I may not be a performer myself but I have been associated very closely with world class musicians for many different reasons for more than 40 years. Having developed an understanding of creative geniuses in different fields, I do get strong intuitive feelings which are at times very difficult to express rationally in words. Hope you understand what I am trying to say... we can also talk off line sometimes about this if you ever want! Keep writing your beautiful comments... you have a nice way of expressing them! A very legendary duet by legendary singers and your very honest take! All this beautiful cocktail is intoxicating! The kind of flows, the twists & turns these legends have managed to present, so beautifully, is hard to imagine! Listening to these gems turns us in to "automatic rasiks". Yes, want to mention here, yesterday's "Vasantotsav" at Borivali was simply superb! We just enjoyed it so thoroughly! You obviously commanded the presentation so superbly. A pleasant surprise was the elegant blossoming of singing by Priyanka Barve. I hadn't got to listened to her such good presentation, before! Just curiously, asking you, has Dipti too given voice to any song, in "Mee Vasantrao"? I personally feel, she should sing at least one song in the movie! To our understanding, she is capable and deserving to be singing at least one, for such one grand tribute to your grandfather! 🙏

I am reproducing what I wrote earlier👇 I watched the 'SOUL LATA' show on UA-cam... a great way to give tribute to a legend like Lata ji who was a God's gift to all us! Lovely choice of songs too and great singing by you both! It seemed more like a Sanjeevani Bhelande show... she looked very comfortable with both her musicians and the audience whereas your body language was a bit different and it also showed in your voice except for the last one! Rahul... in my opinion it was a good testing ground whether you should consider taking that approach in your future endeavours or go back to few musicians of your own and build up your own quartet or a quintet with few accompanists such as a tabla, a piano 🎹, a guitar 🎸 & a saxophone 🎷 which will add more value such as feelings to your renditions & explorations! @@sudhakarmurthy8526 Hello Murthy Sir.. Yes, I deleted the comment because when I re-read it myself, I felt some part of it will be misunderstood by Sanjeevani ji's admirers..(if someone happens to land there)
I was saying, I also watched the Soul Lata show and it was indeed a show by Sanjeevani ji and Rahul ji was an invitee.. But I felt, in such (non classical) shows, the entertainment and expression (body language) takes center stage and Rahul ji must participate in those too to give his best to both worlds:-) He sang all those songs there which he had sung here in his comfort zone and actually took breath away with his opening line in "suno sajna"...!
In my opinion, he should not completely avoid these shows:-) I did not get a feeling that he was "uncomfortable" I felt he was just with himself, and did not realize that he should smile like Sanjeevani ji was constantly doing:-))
Any way Rahul ji being so dear to all of us, we analyze in different ways... He does not need our analysis probably🙂

As you mentioned about the 'comfort' zone I was also thinking of the same.
I wanted to re-emphasise on the journey Rahul ji's heart is looking for where he puts everything he has in his gifted bag 🎒. Rahul is very different than other classical singers of his generation and has the potential to create a new wave in the world of music. I may not be a performer myself but I have been associated very closely with world class musicians for many different reasons for more than 40 years. Having developed an understanding of creative geniuses in different fields, I do get strong intuitive feelings which are at times very difficult to express rationally in words.
Hope you understand what I am trying to say... we can also talk off line sometimes about this if you ever want!

A pleasant surprise was the elegant blossoming of singing by Priyanka Barve. I hadn't got to listened to her such good presentation, before!
Just curiously, asking you, has Dipti too given voice to any song, in "Mee Vasantrao"? I personally feel, she should sing at least one song in the movie! To our understanding, she is capable and deserving to be singing at least one, for such one grand tribute to your grandfather! 🙏

I watched the 'SOUL LATA' show on UA-cam... a great way to give tribute to a legend like Lata ji who was a God's gift to all us! Lovely choice of songs too and great singing by you both!
It seemed more like a Sanjeevani Bhelande show... she looked very comfortable with both her musicians and the audience whereas your body language was a bit different and it also showed in your voice except for the last one!
Rahul... in my opinion it was a good testing ground whether you should consider taking that approach in your future endeavours or go back to few musicians of your own and build up your own quartet or a quintet with few accompanists such as a tabla, a piano 🎹, a guitar 🎸 & a saxophone 🎷 which will add more value such as feelings to your renditions & explorations!
I am sure the same audience will appreciate your work and love to hear you more!
