    It takes a “very good man to prioritize his family over the ego of “chasing the dream” and not bringing the family down with him when he knew it was a bad track. He’s a class act

    I hated to hear Derek called it off, but he did the right, and logical thing to do. I respect that. I do feel that BASS rakes in enough sponsor money to help the anglers out. When they had the split, they offered to pay half the entry fees several anglers, so yes, they have the money. I wish him the best of luck in whatever he does.
    I'll be using the "flip chicken" term when necessary.

    Hate to see someone like Hudnall go, it will be a loss to B.A.S.S. for sure. You are gonna see a lot more of this to come, especially shallow water guys. I dont care how good you are, and when I say this, it applies to the GOATS as well, you cannot compete with FFS fishing that way anymore. That includes the world beaters and the greatest to do it. The way they spent their entire lives learning to fish will not compete with that technology. It is absolute BS that 19 yr olds can dominate watching a screen making 100% of their casts to a bass they see on the screen. Its not their fault it is absolutely the tournament organization to blame for allowing it to happen.

  • @FlatRR
    @FlatRR 22 дні тому +2

    I remember Ronnie Moore giving me shit on Twitter for saying the Bassmaster Elites was going to become a rich mans/nepo baby game when they enforced fishing all 9 opens to qualify. It was already expensive enough before but that move solidified the future of where the sport was heading in my mind. IMO, Derek will not be the only one having to make this decision going forward unfortunately.
    Edit: Also the $5k entry fees relative to the payout structure leaves guys almost entirely relying on sponsors and social media to even exist, let alone make a living.

    • @FlemShady_
      @FlemShady_ 24 дні тому +1

      These young guys have grew up with the “older pros” laying the blueprint to be successful in fishing and what we are seeing are results of them committing to something at a very young age and by the time they are 18-19 years old they have the tournament experience that rivals the veterans with the way high school and college fishing has come along they know how to manage fish over multiple days put time on the water and fish huge boat number derbies

    • @spintowinstradic6067
      @spintowinstradic6067 23 дні тому

      Speak for yourself. I love fishing, including tournament fishing, and I have tremendous respect for their skill on the water, but I’d never want to live that life. Away from your kids too much and for all but a very few pros, not much long-term economic security.

    Look at the cannon plug under your cowl where your motor harness connects with the boat (key/dash) harness. One of my pins was bent (actually ran thru the plastic instead of into the hole) and making intermittent contact. Same symptoms as yours. Some days it worked, other days it didn't.

    Luke, I have a 2020 Xpress 19 Pro, I just fought the same Grimlin. It was a short in the ground wire running to the panel. I replaced too many wires, but the one that fixed the problem was replacing the power and ground wires that runs from the live well and bilge pumps to the power panel. In my case, I would either loose power at the panel or the motor would not start.

      @@LukeDunkinsTravelingCircus Oh, and there is a little circuit breaker on the battery. The short ended up causing the breaker to fail. So, when I put a volt meter to check power I would get 14 volts, but as soon as I put any load on, it dropped to 1.6 volts.

    Derek is a truly great guy! Nothing but respect for him as a person and friend. Just hate seeing it happen. Sadly, it has truly gotten tougher to be a professional and the money it takes to survive year after year. If the trend continues, it is only going to tougher. Just the equipment itself to be competitive is mind blowing. Derek is a class act and whatever the next chapter holds he will be a winner! But as he said, it sucks!!
