I know I need to add some vibrato like you have and continue to improve my tone as you have pointed out. Have you put out any clips on how to develop a good vibrato?

+Alex Collett Sinfield Hi, the Conn Selmer horns are great. Mine is actually a Dave Guardala tenor that I've had for about 20 years. For your budget there are a ton of great horns. Happy shopping.
I personally hate Coltrane's version of Sentimental Mood. The original song has a blues theme that depicts falling into an emotional swirl. But playing it like experimental jazz simply ruins it into a boring abstraction - it becomes emotionless, long stare through the window. Because of Coltrane's approach, the song starts off way too high, in too complicated key (not G-major but D-flat major). Sorry Coltrane, too many flats (5 in this case) don't sound to human ears as sentimental, but rather delirious. Coltrane is then stuck against the wall; delirious build-up, Ellington is hitting chords totally off the blues chart and then the drummer speeds up, changes rhythms, and it's a trainwreck. Some songs simply don't work outside their original genre. Nigel here saves the day by transforming it into a ballad in the original key, which is emotionally reminiscent to the original.
You're telling me your ears can hear flats? What are you going on about dude? Not sure how the key is going to affect the feel of a song unless you are someone with both OCD and perfect pitch or Nigel Tufnel than the key of the song really isn't going to affect the mood.
@@jacksondurie2704 I wrote I can hear flats, but playing in D-flat major is RUINING the original intent of the song. Got it? The key sets the mood, and radical change of the key destroys the song. Jazz musicians change keys at whim, and think that just because they can change the key, it means they are "skilled". But that is how inept and amateur players think - which most jazz players are. The change of key is pure mechanics, and there must be a good damn reason to do it. They change keys on existing songs because they are awful composers - they can't compose good new songs, so they destroy existing ones. Sentimental Mood is an excellent song which Coltrane butchered.
+McGill Music Sax School Have you tried the metal version of the "Ambika" for Tenor Sax? How does it compare with the Hard rubber? You should do a review of the "Ambika" just like the one you did with the "Durga" for Tenor. That would be awesome!!!!!
One of my favourite songs! I was playing this in D. Good to know that the Ellington/Coltrane version is in G. Will make necessary adjustments. :-D
