I own around 200 7.65x54 and x53 and YES they both fire out of the 1891 Argentine Mauser. (I have SF x54 cartridges from Argentina)

Ha ha this argument has been going on for decades.you are correct. The 1889 7.65 Mauser rounds will not chamber in an 1891 Spanish or Argintine . I have them all and do have both cartridges.wih the headstamps. Stuff like this is exactly what got me started in milsurp collecting. You have similar with like the 7.62 x53 vs 54. And 7.5x 54 vs 55. Lots to learn .have fun.

I thought that the X53mm cartridge was the one that Mauser made for the Belgian Contract, (AND the Turkey contract), and the X54mm cartridge was what the South Americans used in their 98 LR rifles. (the rifles made in South America made under the Mauser patent).
I'll have to dig more into this and see if I can find cartridges for both types.... and then try them in MY rifles! (I believe that I have a shoe box full of the X54mm military cartridges stashed away somewhere!)

AND.... it may have been. I've heard that there were some slight differences. I had a couple of rifles that could have proved that. But back then, I never experimented with them like I would do now... testing and all. Infact, I'm not sure that I even had a set of calipers back then. I was just out of my teen years then....!

I think the X53mm cartridge was Mauser's first smokeless cartridge. It is similar to performance to the 300 Savage cartridge. Now you got my curiosity up on this...
Mauser made a lot of rifles in that caliber for Turkey.

I build AR 10 unusual uppers for sale, so I was looking at the 7.65x53 and it fits into the AR 10 magazine.
I am rolling around in my head to build and try the 7.65x53 in the AR 10

Other than bullet size and availability, it sounds like it would work ok.
But those are the reasons that the 308 chambering works so well in just about anything!
      Good luck!

@@arthurshingler2025 I am an advanced reloader since 1976, so nothing bothers me to try something strange.
The brass for 7.65x53 is easily available by PPU and sold on Graf & Sons so are the bullets available.
People just like you with a extreme limited experiences with firearms told me I couldn't build the AR 10 chambered in 6.5-284 Norma, they said it would blow up they said it couldn't be done now the 6.5-284 Norma chamber in the AR 10 uppers I sell is a top seller for me.
And a common said is I am so glad I didn't by a 6.5 Creedmoor and now have the AR 10 in 6.5-284 Norma.
Or the AR 10 uppers I sell in 358 WSM and 375 WSM it was again ignorant limited gun knowledge people like of your kind said it is impossible to build AR 10s for those cartridges, now those are hot sellers to hunters in Alaska.

I'm not sure who you're referring to as ignorant... but I agree there are a lot of them!
Just look at how we got the Government that we got now!

I will subscribe to help you on that end but no bells as you put out way more videos than I have time to watch. I need an apprentice to work on expensive aircraft. Nobody is interested. They think they are going to find an easier, smarter way. Good luck, unsubscribed but will still watch when I have time. Not very often.
