$1 vs $10,000 Dresses!

- Let's compare! Are the expensive wedding dresses really worth the price difference?
Is the $1 really that bad? Is the $10,000 one really that good???
These two dresses are in my private collection the Shein dress originally retailed around $40. (The details are fuzzy, okay? lol) It arrived with severe flaws and has been abandoned at my shop. I'm therefore valuing it at $1. (basically free.) haha If you really want it, let me know. You'll have to pay shipping.
The Monique dress originally retailed for 13,000 or 14,000, again the details are fuzzy. I personally own this dress and value it at $10,000. It's my favorite gown in my private collection. You would just have to see it to believe it.

I would love to show this to my clients, so they would understand why I charge so much to make their gown or to alter it
What I have done is take pictures and show them what's going on with cheap VS more expensive gowns.
Brenda I couldn't stop drooling over the $10,000 dress and it's beautiful workmanship. As a retired dressmaker the quality of the zipper excited me. I would panic when clients would bring bridesmaid dresses made from a knit that was like pantyhose and would ladder when you cut it. This is a great video to show what you are paying for. I wonder how much per meter the designer fabric cost.
Long time viewer and student of your videos. They did entice me into bridal alterations. I’ve learned a lot from you. So THANK YOU! But I must say this video is one of the most enjoyable. It wasn’t to help me out of problem. LOL I instinctively knew most of this but putting it together, side by side , is very helpful. I hope to start my own mini bridal line in the next year so I am doing deep dives in research including ALL your videos. May great karma go your way. I have bought some of your bundlesS too. Super helpful. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
I would love to see the difference between say a ~$600 Azazie dress and something in the $1500-2500 range
Yes!!!! Great idea!!
The designer gown is stunning! 😍 This video helped me to appreciate the high price tag!
I'm obsessed!!!
It’s good to know there’s an affordable white dress for those who need that. But I’d almost say, if you can’t do more, then maybe marriage isn’t a good idea either.
On the other hand… spend money on other stuff instead of a dress you’ll only wear once🤷🏼♀️
I like to see beautiful wedding clothing. And after making a few, even mine from nearly a half century ago, I made myself, cost more. Make an important day memorable and outstanding!
Yes, there's no, one correct choice. Every situation is different.
Thanks for showing the Expensive dress - I've never seen a designer gown ! To be honest it's still overpriced !! don't make fun of cheap dresses unless the fabric is hideous ! Something inbetween these 2 dresses will be interesting to see. Oscar de la Renta once said that hand sewing gowns for months is not necessary when we have sewing machines. His gowns are 90% made by machines and cost 10/15 000. ( similar to this one ). I would love to see real Haute couture Dior. Still I would not fully appreciate it :))
I think the averaged-priced gowns we see around $1,200 are really the sweet spot in affordably, beauty, and quality.
I’m surprised the Lhuillier gown doesn’t have the zipper tape sandwiched between the lining and outer layers. I would think that for $10,00.00 the zipper tape would be finished inside.
There’s probably something I don’t know - could you explain why they’d leave this?
I'm not sure. I see design gowns like this sometimes! It's not unusual for Pninas either. She'll sometimes just bind the tape edges and sew the zipper in. They are easy to work with that way, that's for sure.
Obviously you get what you pay for and, being in the business, you are prejudiced, no harm there. But otherwise, I don’t get your point. I could never in my life afford such a gown. It is magnificent But, I might have to settle for the other one and make it fit, maybe add some pearls, sequins… An just as an aside, the zipper on the cheaper dress is adequate for that dress. It isn’t armor like the other one. Step back and do a reality check.
I believe Brenda was using extreme examples on either end to demonstrate the range of choices and offer contrast in qualities. I think a Shein Revamp would be a fun project:)
You are making the same points I did. How did we differ? This video gives some people the opportunity to see a designer gown if they aren't available in their area. I didn't get married in a designer gown. I made my own out of affordable materials. There's no need to be rude.

I don't think you understood this video. It's not bashing the cheap dress....It's showing the differences in materials and construction. If someone doesn't have a high budget and doesn't want a structured gown, a low budget dress is fine. As she even said in the beginning, if your loved one was in the cheap dress, it fit well, and she looked happy and confident, it's the right dress. Telling factual information isn't bias, it is just factual information.
SHEIN have been accused of using slave labour.
Made with love instead of slave labor? ☹️
Pretty much!
