I joined Lifelock advantage plan earlier in February 2021. Filled out my info and all. So with the Advantage plan if someone actually tried to apply for a credit card with my SSN, it would tell me right away right ? Credit reports only are given once a year. So I wonder how effective Lifelock is at monitoring credit real time. Changes in how much credit I have is what interested me, not so much the score because I’m at 695 now. I got Lifelock for peace of mind in case someone stole my valuable personal info, especially my SSN. Always been a little paranoid about it.

Security and privacy product suites (product suites in general, actually) like this that cover all, or almost all aspects or protection are very convenient but, I have to ask myself, how wise is it to 'put all your eggs in one basket?' One breach and all your details, including banking information, are compromised. The other concern is that typically with product suites like this, the company rarely has market leading expertise in all of the services they offer. Better to have your privacy and protection needs distributed across carefully selected companies and products with the single focused expertise. Norton Lifelock might be good for anyone who wants the one stop shop convenience experience, the lure of an integrated platform and doesn't want to spend the extra effort doing the research, comparing/contrasting the best offerings of different single purpose products/companies to achieve the best protection possible with the minimum potential risk.

Where as I agree with most of what you said, Symantec (former name) has been around since the dawn of the internet. If they dont have this figured out yet then no one will.

It's kind of like going to the beach and asking a perfect stranger to watch your stuff while you go to the snack bar.

It’s a million for reimbursement and funding if you pay for the 3rd package. ID Guard offers it for the cheapest package.

Apparently you haven't been a subject of identity theft. Lifelock has helped me greatly when my ex-spouse was using my identity and SSN to get C.Cards through Banks and I exclusively use Credit Unions. They monitor more than you can do on your own--especially if you don't have the time because you work 10+ hour days. They monitor all three bureaus and will alert you if any activity is going on with the use of your name. I am wary about Norton, but life lock is a great invention for busy people like me who don't have the time to constantly monitor activity--not knowing where to target, since your info can be sold to as many people who will destroy your name. The experience taught me banks are non-chalant about if your credit gets messed up or not, for the banks were quick to approve without really analyzing my history seeing I don't use banks, and haven't for many years. My hunch is banks is in cahoots with ID theft indirectly.

@@marlinking7078 my ex ruined my credit score. Didn't matter really because I am aware that credit is for people wanting to live above their means. I save up and buy things I don't pay extra to have an item right then. Also, I know several people that had lifelock didn't help them. Then they realized it wasn't worth the money. If it helped you out, then good for you. You can keep on living on credit.

@@edwinwilkinson2628 Sorry to hear, my spouse tried to opened up 5 credit cards under my name and the banks didn't let me know if they caught her when they asked who do I suspect of the crime(S). When someone has your SSN and good at cracking, they can take your information and still open up accounts in your name...so though you may pay cash for everything, they can still create a profile with your name, and open up several accounts mimic paying on time to get better things to not pay when they're done accomplishing their mission of a bigger goal.

    • @edwinwilkinson2628

@@marlinking7078 People can do those things. They can also do things that are outside of what lifelock keeps track of. People can also shoot you, use bombs to blow you up, crash thier car into yours. No need going through life worried about what might could happen. Plus, after your credit score gets low enough, a person can't do anything with your SSN without paying a huge deposit upfront. However, I don't spend my time worrying or spend money to have someone guard me because I'm affraid of what might happen. After all, it might just end up that when I walk outside in a few minutes a jet plan falls out the sky crashing where I'm standing.
