They sell a inlaid plastic similar to like you have on the bottom of your head. Is easy to assemble and will last forever. The crop feeds really good, in the bottom of that header
Yes they do. In the past we have never installed it for re-sale value as the plastic typically means that a head has a lot of acres on it and it looks wore out. Now however we don’t really care about that so much as the head isn’t worth anything anyways, but for a spare head it took about 3 minutes to weld it shut off camera. If we were planning on using it as a main head we probably would use the plastic now.
lol. OSHA... You have the face/eye shield.. no gloves.. but your dad has gloves with no face/eye shield. Protractors, levers... you're taking us back to school! Yea! Ingenious to get it straightened.
Great video, thanks Carson! Most ingenious! I caught this right to repair video, and whose footage do they include? My favorite farming channel to watch when I get to watch any anymore: ua-cam.com/video/pBcKSjXzOig/v-deo.html I hope UA-cam lets the link go through. Wow, it's almost harvest season again! Where did the summer go? haha Thanks again!
Wow I haven't seen a header like that since the 1990s,fun fact did you know Mac Don invented the draper head in 2004 and now they have a 61 foot FD draper head.I'm using one while I'm trying to type this anywho have a wonderful day
Thanks for your video and I dont mean to detract from your excellent videos, but this person puts out impressive videos of combining on the Palouse area. His videos are worth looking at on UA-cam. The latest video is titled, - Steep hills and harvesters sliding on soft ground
We have had a couple neighbors do the opposite. Start with macdon and go back to Deere. Always been curious about them but we don’t really have any dealers around us and they are very hard to re-sell.
Awesome video . Thank you
Your Dad is a very resourceful guy. That was a very efficient effective repair.
I loved to watch the "farmer ingenuity" in this video! Sure is neat watching you guys figure out a solution to a problem spot on the header like that!
that is some innovation to sort that out and it worked , good job , time well spent if you get a break down and its there ready to use if needed

Macdon did not invent the first Draper head I remember swathers with Draper heads back in the sixties
May West has a polly kit to fix that hole problem , think it was Larsons who installed it on one of there heads.

Bu moving the radio off to the side do you mean blocking your main means of entering and exiting the combine? 😂
Well I didn’t need to exit it for vacuuming 😉
@@6thGenFarmer I did not think of that, good point!

Have you guys ever demoed or used a MacDon? We really like them and our neighbor that runs Deere combines says he’ll never go back to a Deere draper.

Lol, must be a rough neighborhood you live in if buddy needs to carry a hand gun at the farm
Haha, it’s just a leatherman multi tool
