This past summer, I bought an Adams Tight Lies 3 wood and 5 wood. They are the best fairway woods that I have ever owned. They are extremely easy to hit. I am 77 years old and have a very slow swing speed, and it seems like they are made for my swing. I just checked and they are on sale at Rock Bottom Golf for $48 each (I paid $60 each.) They are very basic, but beautiful clubs, with no adjustments. Even the head covers are great.
I used to play with a similar Adams product, the Idea Pro hybrid. I had a 3 and a 4 hybrid, both in a VS Proto "By You" 80 gram stiff shaft. I used them for the better part of a decade and found them extremely consistent, often using the 3 as my fairway club on par 5's, or off the tee on tight par 4's. What I loved about them more than anything is that they seemed to have absolutely NO draw bias, unlike the vast majority of hybrids today. I still have them although I took them out of the bag about 5 years ago (I'm too old and too slow for them now). Fantastic clubs, especially for the better player.
The reason Taylormade purchased Adams, is due to Adams numerous patented golf club technologies, but the one they really wanted was namely, the speed slot, used in woods and irons, plus others too. Taylormade were having to pay to Adams to use. It was cheaper to buy Adams, than continue paying for the licence to use it. Adams is still going, but the brand is a shadow of its former self. Selling cheaper irons, rather than their progressive new designs that Adams were famous for.
I played an Adams 5 wood until it became unplayable, probably 20 years. When you layed it on the turf it just looked so easy to hit. Talk about confidence.
FWIW, the Ben Hogan VKTR hybrids were designed by people that had once worked for Adams as well. Very similar shaping, finish is maybe a little more classic gloss black. Worth a go if you come across one in your travels! It's the best hybrid I've owned for sure.
I just replaced my 4,5, and 6 irons (Srixon ZX5) with 2007 vintage Taylor Made Rescue hybrids. Big time game changer. It wasn't that I couldn't hit the irons, it's a consistency thing, the hybrids are just so much easier ti hit where you want them to go.
Just purchased a Bridgestone J33 2 hybrid. I already have and use 2 x TM stealth hybrid, 2 x Wilson Dynapower hybrid at different lofts but wanted to try a 2 hybrid. The J33 cost me £20. It is one of the best (softest) feeling hybrids I've ever hit and performance was as good (on a cold day well over 200 yards)as any of the other ones in my bag. Try it and see. For 20 quid it's got to be worth a try!
HAHA, I have one of those, I got it for $19.99 and I use it so much! I also have the slingshot irons still too, theyre just easy to hit! I dont care about ego and looks or brand!!! I use what works!!!!
Back in the day, Ben Hogan made a hybrid that I played, just like the Adams one you are showcasing. The current Ben Hogan (DTC) company makes a a "modernized" hybrid as well - the Vktr+ - same shape, size, and characteristics as the Adams but utilizing some modern materials and technology. I've been playing the 18 degree Vktr+ for over a year now; average 245 carry with a driver swingspeed of 105-110 mph! Dumped my 5 wood and 4 iron as a result.
I have two taylormade mid hybrids, a 5 and 3, and they are the most solid feeling fairway clubs I’ve hit, including some more modern ones. Adam’s golf was famous for these type of clubs.
I got several of these, 1/2 my bag with a set of the V3 hybrids. Adams has the Super Hybrid and the Proto which are both awesome. I got a proto 3, I could use as a driver if I wanted. Adams and Warrior Custom Golf have some great clubs.
I picked up an Adams Tight Lies 3 wood and hybrid arpund 2005 when in States on business trip and kept it in my bag for at least 10 years! Unfort broke shafts when clubs were in transit after a golf trip to Europe ... Would love to find them again...the head design was pretty unique. ⛳️⛳️
Those Adams Hybrids were/are the best! The predecessor to that, the Idea Pro (yellow head) was even better! Currently playing the Callaway Apex Pro 4H from 2016 as a bridge between my 5iron and 5wood. Has that smaller head that is so versatile....maybe another video for gapping. That 18* you have I would use for a 5wd replacement.
I agree Andrew. The Idea Pro was like stealing and not getting caught. I should pull the 80 gram stiff shafts and put something a little lighter in mine and put them back in play. Age (mine) is what took them out of my bag.
I can’t take my Adams a7 hybrids (which seem to have the same head shape and awesome pro force shafts) out of the bag. I can trust them over any 3 wood at extremely similar distances. Great video as always James!
I still have the really old school Tight Lies woods, I’ve got a 3 and a 7 wood still. I still put them in the bag from time to time. They’re the clubs that they used to show informercials to sell them back in the days before you got stuff online. The Adam’s in this video are a much newer version of the clubs I got.
I actually still have some Adams hybrids in my basement, they are the Adams XTD Ti hybrids, I love them and only stopped using them after I got TaylorMade Stealth 2 hybrids. Still have them on stand by. I have always thought Adams had some of the best clubs on the market
i second that. have a 4i 25* original Halo i got outta the garbage. Thing can do anything, regular shaft grips getting slick. Never gonna sell or trade even if it comes in and out of the bag. Weird looking but it could easily perform half the clubs in the bag without trying lol, that point and shoot.
The Cleveland #3 Hywood is my tee club! It goes! Try that one out? Ive had Adams hybrids, but moved on! This model was expensive back in its day! Hogan makes one similar! Thanks James
@jimpowell2296 agreed... its a shame that they basically got bought to get shut down... so certain other brands could have a better market share, since we havent really seen anything like an adams hybrid (aside from the callaway super hybrid maybe?) In the last 10 yrs of golf equipment...they just work...
I had that head over and I agree with you. That is the best head cover I ever had. I had one with a zipper that I liked but the zipper broke. Magnets don’t wear out or break.
James, would be great if you picked up an Adams Pro DHY and reviewed it. Unreal driving iron. Taylormade DHY is basically same club. I have a 21* that I picked up for $50. Great fairway finder and very forgiving.
To my knowledge TM bought Adams mainly for the undercut sole which Adams held the patent for. Adams was an innovative company that rose to fame in the 90s with the Tight Lies low CG fairway woods and also brought us their 'GT' shafts for irons which were steel shafts with variable length graphite tips. Back in the day I owned a set of original Tight Lies irons with the GT shafts and they were one of the best irons I ever played with sublime feel despite being cast not forged. With the loss of Barney Adams at the helm unfortunately Adidas and TM let the brand go to pot.
I just reunited with a Mizuno HiFli 3 Hybrid after 18 years & fell in love with it again….goes 215 (not as long as you, Robbo) & cost 44 quid. What’s not to like?!? I hear you.
I loved this club (back in the day) I do think that there are better models now (obviously more expensive). I think Taylormade bought them to take them off the market. Just like people buy pro v1 or vokey wedges everyone used to buy Adams hybrids and fairways back then.
James - if you put that club in your bag, what would you take out? A 2 or 3 iron? A 5 wood or perhaps a 7 wood? If you had 14 clubs in your bag, what goes? Thanks/MG
Had Nickent 5, and 7 woods 30 years ago, and they were the best! Adams sued Nickent for patent issues and hence Nickent faded away. Too bad. Adams benefited
They were and are great ....i have a taylormade rocketballz tour 3 hybrid 18 degree and it has same shape ...but the controversial white head but i liked the white headed burners and rocketballz in my opinion they are they are some of if not the best woods and hybrids taylormade ever made ....that being said i am huge fan of the ping g430 line of woods and hybrids now ....they are just really good
Thanks for the analysis! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
I got a Calloway rogue st max and it looks just like that and I love it . Stiff shaft 4 hybrid and Nuke that bad boy up to 240 . Want to take my 2 wood out and put a 3 hybrid and possible 2 hybrid but trying to figure out which brand and clubs I want
So... if this club is 2009... would you also say the 2008's through 2012's are worth getting... or did they hit a high point in 2009? My guess is that the revisions on a yearly basis are mainly aesthetic in nature... but I'd like to know.

I bought a 3 and a 5 Adams wood set for $10. They’ve been in my bag since. Easiest to hit clubs. Love em!
I love these reviews so much, I found this club left-handed on eBay for under $50 and bought it.
I used to play with a similar Adams product, the Idea Pro hybrid. I had a 3 and a 4 hybrid, both in a VS Proto "By You" 80 gram stiff shaft. With Callaway’s affinity for misspelling things, the Hybird sounds like a perfect fit for them 😂
I have been using the Adams tight lies 19 degree for 20 years!
Great vlog, thank you. Similarly we game the Adams Idea CB2 irons and they're spot on.
Bernhard Langer still has two old Adams hybrids in the bag.
FWIW, the Ben Hogan VKTR hybrids were designed by people that had once worked for Adams as well. Very similar shaping, finish is maybe a little more classic gloss black. Worth a go if you come across one in your travels! It's the best hybrid I've owned for sure.
Favourite club in my bag is the Adams Pro mini hybrid. It cost about 40 quid.
Great review,I much prefer these types of vids to the ones where you come across cocky and clever.More like this please.
I have a left hand one in 20 degrees that I bought from golf clubs for cash around a year ago, great review James
I recently found an Adams tight lies 3 hybrid with a Kuro Kage S shaft and head cover at the thrift store and I must say, it's a fantastic club.
I have the ones from 2008 when they came out. I have the 2,3 and 4h

This is great, James. Next time you do a WITB I expect that hybrid to be there.
Mind blowing 🤪😜 Looks like a Callaway X2HOT.
HAHA, I have one of those, I got it for $19.99 and I use it so much! I also have the slingshot irons still too, theyre just easy to hit! I dont care about ego and looks or brand!!! I use what works!!!!

Another ”must buy, best there is” club James, showed you!
It’s a twice daily event. He promised me a couple of weeks ago he’d show us the best driver of 2024. Still waiting.
I have a couple of Adams hybrids, paid about 60 quid each. Terrific cult clubs and a well kept secret!
the last 0211 pxg hybrid was vey similar in sound and shape to this , have had lots of Adams hybrids , good clubs
You should try and get hold of a Nickent hybrid and give that a try.
The Callaway Rogue ST Max 4 hybrid is basically identical.
It's also 18 degrees and iron like.
Looking forward to the Nike Slingshot video.
Funny
Those Adams Hybrids were/are the best! The predecessor to that, the Idea Pro (yellow head) was even better! I play a 20deg tight lies hybrid from 2022 and it’s fantastic. You can get those for close to $50 probably too.
I can’t take my Adams a7 hybrids (which seem to have the same head shape and awesome pro force shafts) out of the bag. I can trust them over any 3 wood at extremely similar distances. Great video as always James!
“My Golf Spy” did a review on this club in August 2011, rated it highly.
Great find, James. 😊
Got a new Tour edge e722 17° 2 hybrid for $99. I love it.
I just got a #4 for $11.00, I’ll upgrade the shaft to one that fits my game and still be way ahead. Really good video James, thank you!
2 seconds in and I could see it. I had an Adams back in the day and wish I'd kept it. I had an early KBS hybrid steel shaft in it. It was amazing.
I still hit a Adams Pro Gold Boxer Tour Prototype 20 with a Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue shaft.
I actually still have some Adams hybrids in my basement, they are the Adams XTD Ti hybrids, I love them and only stopped using them after I got TaylorMade Stealth 2 hybrids. Still have them on stand by. I have always thought Adams had some of the best clubs on the market
I've got the 24 degree equivalent and its been in my bag since 2005, only club I have not changed nor am I likely to.
Cleveland halo. Sensational
i second that. have a 4i 25* original Halo i got outta the garbage. Thing can do anything, regular shaft grips getting slick. Never gonna sell or trade even if it comes in and out of the bag. Weird looking but it could easily perform half the clubs in the bag without trying lol, that point and shoot.
I’ve a couple of Adams hybrids in the cupboard. I might get them out and game them again. Nothing I’ve hit since is any better.
The Cleveland #3 Hywood is my tee club! It goes! Try that one out? Ive had Adams hybrids, but moved on! This model was expensive back in its day! Hogan makes one similar! Thanks James
I have a lefty rogue 17 degree that I can't replace, just like that Adam's Idea that I purchased in a flea market for $10.
James.... Lou's Golf Shop in Texas has these for around $20 all the time. You popped up in discussion couple days ago when I was in there. FYI
Ah amazing!
My Tour Edge #4 hybrid is my go to club from the fairway to green if I need loft on a 175 yard shot.
Still using an Adams Boxer tour prototype 3h in the bag, i hit is so much better than any other 3 or 4 hybrid i have ever tried...
Adams was way ahead of the times. Just a great product.
@jimpowell2296 agreed... its a shame that they basically got bought to get shut down... so certain other brands could have a better market share, since we havent really seen anything like an adams hybrid (aside from the callaway super hybrid maybe?) I had that head over and I agree with you. That is the best head cover I ever had. I had one with a zipper that I liked but the zipper broke. Magnets don’t wear out or break.
Try the xxio prime royal edition, unreal
I love the reviews on the older equipment but I’d really love to see it if it’s that good go in the bag
I have the Idea a7OS hybrids 5 and 6. Same shape without the visible weighting. Will never let them go. They have Prolaunch shafts on them
That RIP'd VS was awesome
I still play 2014 Adams Idea hybrids. Great clubs
The tour edge exotics c723 is IDENTICAL
🙌🏼⛳️
James, would be great if you picked up an Adams Pro DHY and reviewed it. Unreal driving iron. Taylormade DHY is basically same club. I have a 21* that I picked up for $50. Great fairway finder and very forgiving.

Swing looking great 👍. Open Championship
Face looks a lot like my once beloved Callaway Mavrik, very iron like which I like.
The CEO of Adam’s went to Callaway !
The hybrid looks exactly like the Callaway Mavric clubs from a few years ago with the exact same orange color.
Well done James 👏 😊
Still rocking my Adams XTD Ti on a project x shaft. So Fargiving 😂😂
Try some of the new Adams golf clubs
IIRC, Tom Watson almost won the 2009 Open Championship with Adam’s hybrids
I just reunited with a Mizuno HiFli 3 Hybrid after 18 years & fell in love with it again….goes 215 (not as long as you, Robbo) & cost 44 quid. What’s not to like?!? I hear you.
Face looks like a modern callaway
I have a hybrid. It sits in my, “things to do when I’m old” bag. It’s an Adams.
I have an old set of Adams hybrid irons downstairs. Maybe I I'll take them to the simulator this winter!
I loved this club (back in the day) I do think that there are better models now (obviously more expensive). I think Taylormade bought them to take them off the market. Just like people buy pro v1 or vokey wedges everyone used to buy Adams hybrids and fairways back then.
Go buy a Sonartec ..still fantastic in todays crowded market and cheap
James - if you put that club in your bag, what would you take out? A 2 or 3 iron? A 5 wood or perhaps a 7 wood? If you had 14 clubs in your bag, what goes? Thanks/MG
Thankfully I just bought some Idea pro hybrids before they go up in value!!
Had Nickent 5, and 7 woods 30 years ago, and they were the best! Adams sued Nickent for patent issues and hence Nickent faded away. Too bad. Adams benefited
gobsmacked that this wasn't another Eleven video
They were and are great ....i have a taylormade rocketballz tour 3 hybrid 18 degree and it has same shape ...but the controversial white head but i liked the white headed burners and rocketballz in my opinion they are they are some of if not the best woods and hybrids taylormade ever made ....that being said i am huge fan of the ping g430 line of woods and hybrids now ....they are just really good
Are you Leeds or ManU? You should also try to find an Orlimar driver. They would fly if hit perfectly. Keep up the good content.
I have a set of adams irons with the 3 and 4 hybrids, I'll pull them out!
OMG, another best ever club
I see Nike slingshot irons in the bag. They were my first set.
Langer plays them today
I literally just regripped my Adam’s hybrids last night and put them back in the bag. Try to swap them out every year and nothing feels as good.
I have a bag of Adams hybrids. I guess I will put them on Ebay next year. What about the Adams Idea CMB irons ... really very good.
Great video😊
Slingshots in the bag James?!?
What I’ve heard was TM was going to be sued for copyright infringement so TM bought em.
Have one in the bag
TM should just create the A series. keep the spirit of adams without losing the key TM name.
Have you tried the newer Adams Clubs (2023)? I've seen youtube reviews, curious at what you think of them, since I watch all your videos.
Funky Nike iron alert in second #1 !
My son has a Titleist hybrid that has a similar shape
I noticed that you had some beautiful Nike Slingshot irons in your bag that you didn’t mention. Or are those the subject of another video?
wonder what the new adams hybrids are like in comparison to their heyday??
The PEANUT never fails :)
Still have an Adams pro from 2014 in the bag
Thanks for the analysis! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
How does this compare to Idea Pro Gold which seems to have more square head?
I got a Calloway rogue st max and it looks just like that and I love it . Stiff shaft 4 hybrid and Nuke that bad boy up to 240 . Want to take my 2 wood out and put a 3 hybrid and possible 2 hybrid but trying to figure out which brand and clubs I want
So... if this club is 2009... would you also say the 2008's through 2012's are worth getting... or did they hit a high point in 2009? My guess is that the revisions on a yearly basis are mainly aesthetic in nature... but I'd like to know.
I got rid of my TaylorMade tour hybrid replaced it with an Adams 16 degree pro mini hybrid
Broke my heart when TM purchased Adams. I miss em..
Still have 2 Adams hybrids in circulation
