David, why is the new Tampa Devil Ray scheduled proposed to be built in St Pete and not Ybor city ????? Or why not build the stadium closer to I75 for fan accessibility?
St Pete/Pinellas basically gave the Rays a sweetheart deal on a blatant real estate play where the development around the stadium was going to be more profitable than the stadium itself. If Tampa/Hillsborough had come up with a similar deal for the Rays, that's where they would have ended up. Tampa is probably gonna focus more on keeping the Bucs in town at this point, so there may not be any money left over for a ballpark even if both the city/county and the team do want a deal there.
