    I honestly does believe Draco would repair his soul eventually as I do believe he would go through the intense remorse needed to do so. It may actually be so painful it kills him, but as Dumbledore explained: there are fates far worse than death. At least he would be able to pass onto the afterlife and not be stuck in torture in Limbo.

    I wonder how this would change his and Harry’s treatment of each other in Deathly Hallows. With nothing to lose, would Draco have simply told his family that he was certain it was Harry at their Manor that night since he had no more reason to doubt his place at the Dark Lord’s side?
    And either way, if Harry managed to escape, how would Harry have reacted differently in the Room Of Requirement when looking for the diadem? He was sympathetic to Draco and realised his heart was not consumed with hate like the other Death Eaters, but now? Would Harry have simply left Draco and his friends to die?
    An action like that would have irreversibly changed Draco’s relationship with everyone around him from his father’s uneasy pride, his mother’s frantic worrying for her son’s soul and safety, Voldemort’s affection for his newest assassin, Harry’s burning fury and Snape’s bitter regret that the night did not go as it was supposed to. It really was for the best that Snape took the proverbial bullet for both of them.

      If Harry did let Draco die in the Fiend Fire, then Harry would likely be killed after coming back to life in the Forrest, as Narcissa ensuring Draco was safe was what made her lie to Voldemort.

      @Whybesowhat doesn't matter actually. Even if, unlike Snape, Draco admitted he wasn't the master of the wand Voldemort would still kill him. One, he probably wouldn't believe him, and two, the Malfoys were out of favor. Voldemort did regret killing Snape. It angered him that he had to. But he'd have had no such regret with Draco.

    I don't think the video took enough into account. Harry's rage at Snape would have been aimed at Draco instead. I think Harry would have attempted to kill Draco like he did Snape. Harry may have even been sidetracked in going after Draco in book 7. Harry was already preoccupied with Draco in book 6.

    I'm glad Albus and Snape saved Draco from the awful consequences of killing Dumbledore under Voldemort's orders. It would definitely had been way worse for him and the Malfoy family if he did and then Voldemort had to ultimately kill him too in order to posees the elder wand's alliance.
    Two hopeless but very powerful and wise souls were within Albus and Severus; they saved many innocent lives from perish or being ruined at Voldemort's evil ways.

    I agree with T V that this would have led to Voldemort killing Draco in order to gain mastery of the Elder Wand, which would on the one hand have led to Harry feeling severe guilt for what happened to Draco for, as much as he would have hated him, he would have recognised that he didn’t deserve to die at his hands in such a gruesome manner when all he had done had been in service of his family.
    And on the other, it would have led to Snape being able to tell Harry about Lily and Dumbledore and what he had to do in person instead of just via his memories. And what a fascinating conversation that would have been where after all the shrouds and veils have been pulled away, these two are able to have an actually honest conversation with each other for the first time in their lives.
    There is just no ending to this series that does not have a deeply bittersweet element to it no matter what way you cut it.

      No. While like Snape I hated what Dumbledore has done. Because of the connection between Harry and Voldemort duo to Harry being an accidental Horcrux. Voldemort would have learned on any plan to details. For controlling Occlumency you must tap into cold and calculated mind. Hiding any emotion to the point it seems detached and Harry was too emotional. Harry was shit at Occlumency. Sure we can blame Snape for it but even if Dumbledore was the one to teach Harry, it wouldn't change Harry's lack of ability to hide his feelings. So because Harry was an open book it was essential.

    Nah. He wouldn't have his soul split or be hunted by Dumbledore's allies.
    Voldemort put Draco into a terrible situation. One where he kills Dumbledore a few seconds sooner than the death eaters would have, or he just dies along with Dumbledore. Yeah, no one wants to kill an innocent but if that innocent is effectively condemned to inescapable death anyways then you may as well save yourself if you can. That's not the same as murder. The murderer in this instance is Voldemort for forcing Draco into that situation.
    And you have to remember that Dumbledore's allies are the empathetic good guys. They aren't mindless drones programmed to avenge their masters. They would recognize the situation for what it was and forgive Draco. Draco himself would know this.
    I mean sure in an alternate grimdark version of Harry Potter I'm sure Draco would be completely screwed by this situation but within the canon he has many options available to him even after killing Dumbledore.

    If Draco actually went through with killing Dumbledore, his soul would've been very broken. Do I think his soul would eventually heal/repair? I think so, but I think that it would take quite a long time for that to happen. Draco's not a killer and he's not evil. Yes, he was a bully, but he didn't want to seriously harm or kill anyone himself. So, if he had to go through with his task, it would've traumatized him even more than the trauma he went through the whole time that he was a death eater prior to completing the task. He would eventually realize that him completing the task wasn't his fault, that Dumbledore wouldn't blame him for it since Dumbledore knew Draco was forced to do it and that Draco shouldn't blame himself for something he was forced to do, since I believe he was forced into becoming a DE in the first place. He knew it's something he would've had to do to protect himself and his family's lives from the dark lord's wrath.

    • @alinamagda2547
      @alinamagda2547 9 місяців тому +1

      I definitely pity him. He was cocky, boastful and an outright bully, but he didn't physically hurt anyone before he got the dark mark. And after he got the dark mark, well... all his actions were triggered more by fear of Voldemort and the desire to keep his family safe rather than anything else, but he definitely didn't have it easy. This is most obvious in the bathroom scene in "The Half-Blood Prince". Seeing him almost rip his sweater off as if it were burning him, and then how he started to cry was absolutely heartbreaking for me to watch. He was obviously a wreck, a shadow of his former self.
      He knew that if he didn't complete the task Voldemort would kill him as well as his family (and let's be honest: NOTHING is more important than family). I think at that point he needed some comforting and reassurance, not a duel. In my opinion, Harry should have talked to him first, see what was going on. Rather than going all "I know what you did, Malfoy! You hexed it, didn't you?!" he should have been like "Malfoy, are you ok?" Maybe Draco would have said "Bug off, Potter!", but then Harry should have said something like: "It's ok Malfoy, I just want to talk to you, see what happened to you this year." Maybe in the end they could have had a decent conversation and Harry would have found a way to help Draco in such a manner that he would turn him into one of the good guys behind Voldemort's back. Having someone to talk to would definitely have helped Draco a lot, and that's what he needed. At least that's what I think. It's fine if you have a different opinion, but this is mine so please don't judge me too harshly for it.
      Sorry about the long comment, but it's merely a summary of what I think. I'd be grateful if you could take the time to read it all.

    I really loved your video about why the killing curse worked on Dumbledore from Snape.
    In a way, the fact that the killing curse works, makes that scene poetic. I always looked at it as the loophole is, Dumbledore was condemned to death through the curse of the ring. Snape also wanted to kill Dumbledore because the curse from the ring was likely highly more painful & drawn out. It's like Ol' Yeller, & getting rabies. Snape had to convince himself that putting Dumbledore out of his misery was better than a long drawn-out death. In-turn, Snape wanted Dumbledore to die, in the least painful way. Albus even said "Severus, please" (put me down, I've accepted it) to help encourage Snape that it was OK & for the Greater Good. The curse from the ring was long & painful. Killing curse was "quicker than falling asleep"
    Very interesting to think about this further as to how different this scene could have been if Malfoy would have actually succeeded in doing what he was instructed to do. I do think that the rest of the books from this point on would be very different, because Voldemort would indeed be the true master of the elder wand, because he wouldn't hesitate to kill Malfoy, if it meant him achieving the power he seeked.

    I think with the unbreakable vow fulfilled. Harry would just straight up disarm and kill draco. Then voldemort would go mad looking for the wand only to find out its with dumbledore. Eventually leading to the sams conclusion. But if harry killed draco he'd probably loose some friends including Harmonie and Ron. Thus harry would probably die do to the hocruxes never being destroyed.
    Plus half blood prince harry killed draco for less and it was only because of snape that draco even survived.

    so there's a 50/50 chance Dumbledore dies. we also kno that Bellatrix wasn't there in the book and whoever was could take all the blood as fighting. Snape wouldn't grass him up and would probably get anyone out of there faster

    I haven’t finished the video yet, so we may already share the opinion, idk. But I feel that if Draco killed Dumbledore, Voldemort would have killed him for mastery of the elder wand instead of Snape. Which would ultimately give Narcissa no need to lie to Voldemort that Harry was dead, because the whole reason behind her answer “dead.” was that she got the answer that she was looking for out of Harry. That Draco was still alive.

    I’ve never understood why he was allowed to stay free after the fall of Voldemort. Malfoy didn’t have it in him to kill Dumbledore sure… But he still used illegal curses on people, gave an innocent person a cursed magical object and poisoned another person. He should have been hunted down and arrested forget “redemption”. Also to say that Malfoy “didn’t believe in Voldemort’s cause” is a tad absurd… Malfoy was all in for Voldemort up until his father fell from grace and the Malfoy’s lost there cushy position in the inner circle.. Draco wasn’t Voldemort or Bellatrix levels of evil but he was still racist blood cultist who supported the death of people for their blood. They sent Hagrid to Azkaban for having a dangerous pet 50 years before with no more evidence than that. Draco Malfoy should have at least gotten a few years hard time.

    • @Meeekuuuu
      @Meeekuuuu Рік тому +1

      True but the main reason they stayed free is that Narcissa saved Harry by saying he was dead in the forest, Draco saved Harry by not identifying him and they switched sides in the middle of the battle. So technically without Draco and his mum, Harry could've died twice and if Harry's dead then.....
      their status might play a small part in their lack of sentence as well since Lucius used to contribute a lot to the ministry.

      Voldemort wasn't capable of feeling remorse. He was the text book definition of a murderer and a madman. He's the only REAL VILLAIN of the story. So there's NO WAY such a hypothetical video would work. Draco on the other hand was capable of feeling remorse. True, he was a bully, but he was not cold-blooded enough to murder someone. The guilt he would have felt would have torn him apart. That's why he wasn't able to kill Dumbledore at the top of the Astronomy Tower, and that's why this video worked so well. Think of it: how many people did he physically hurt before he got the dark mark? None. He just bullied them, but he couldn't harm them because he didn't have it in him. He was merely an ANTAGONIST to Harry because of his bullying ways, not an actual villain like Voldemort. You see my point?
