    Great review. Glad you are loving that tool because i'm a newbie SOG lover, just started edc'ing a SoG powerlock and it is up to some jobs in my mechanic work that other high-end multitools simply can't do. That Baton is ingenious. I will try to get one eventually. Keep up the good work!

    Maybe it's not as wide as my Leatherman Wave but it's very long and thicker! Also the tools in the Leatherman Wave are bigger and more functional and u can open the knife with 1 hand!

    • @amightysailingman
      @amightysailingman 4 роки тому

      It's not thicker. The Q3 is 5/8" thick. The Wave is 1/8" thicker and also 2 to 2.5 ounces heavier depending on model. Some of us just don't need all the silly stuff like a wood saw. I had a saw on my old Victorinox knife and never used it even once in 15 years. On the other hand, I used the chisel on this to completely clean a sticker off a window within a week of getting it. You can open your blade with one hand, but most of the other tools are more difficult to get to as you have to open the handles first. Every tool has tradeoffs, so stop trying to make yours sound perfect.

  • @elijablack7236
    @elijablack7236 6 років тому

    I agree with the knife statement you made with one exception the leather man mut and mut eod tools the knife on there is extremely robust, and has served well in several camping trips as I primary (when I was testing it) though I'd recommend always having a real knife too

  • @8thsinner
    @8thsinner 6 років тому +1

    I like the design elements used in this but those tools look really very cheap, the chisel looks already to have edge damage from such light work, Also, shouldn't the sharp edge of the chisel be on the reverse side so you are actually cutting away wood as opposed to digging in?...

    incorporate a bottle opener that doubles as a can opener on the pull out feature. not just the bottle opener that it has one that works something like a p 38 and lower the price and I d say you have a decent knife.just my opinion . Also if I may say I always hear about the weight of knives and such the like these days. if a knife doesn't have weight to it . it's most likely not worth having:)

    This could be so much better. The name is baton; but it can't really be used as a baton. If it had a lock to lock the two halves together - imagine that. Also, you could pull that little blade out, lock the baton back up, and you'd have a knife over 6" long.

Gonna see if I can do anything about the sliding grips. Yeah over the years I've found scissors are pretty much the thing I use the most behind the actual pliers and phillips bit. Now I dont even worry about it because the leatherman style CS has a permanent spot on my keys. Its small and slim, and a super capable dedicated pair of scissors. Plus the tweezers, small blade, and nail file are really useful. Right now my perfect combo is the leatherman rebar on the belt, and style CS on the keys 👍

    • @amightysailingman
      @amightysailingman 4 роки тому

      If you like the Micra, that's fine, but it's not useful for the rest of us. The tweezers are too flexible to grip anything well. I'd much rather have pliers than scissors, and a can opener than a bottle opener. I can't remember the last time I used a bottle opener. In all honesty, a Micra has no more functionality than a small Swiss Army knife except in a Leatherman style. In fact, my Victorinox Midnite Manager has all the same functions (except for the useless tweezers) and more, including a flashlight and pen, in an even smaller and lighter package.

    5Cr15MoV is a garbage steel. For that much money you should at least be getting 14C28N which is about twice as good at edge retention. 5Cr15MoV is slightly crappier than 440A. Even a cheap 440c would only cost about $1 more.

      Michel Linschoten 14C28n is very very close in edge retention to VG10. VG10 is not a garbage steel

      Michel Linschoten The Mora Garbera(sic) is 88 cuts and the Real Steal E571 is 71 cuts in 14C28N compared to Kizer Dukes at 83, Spyderco Delica at 75, and Fallkniven F1 at 74. While the Gerber Index in 5cr15mov will do about 37 cuts before becoming dull. Here is the list where I got that data: www.patreon.com/posts/worksharp-steel-16430576 you can watch any of his videos see hear him explain the methodology and watch him make every cut on that list. I realise that edge retention is just one factor in a knife, but I don't believe in this case it'll be a factor when you have other tools for prying etc.

      This is the guy doing the insane amount of on camera testing ua-cam.com/channels/dICfnpxD9uzHLaSr3DN55g.html .The Kizer Dukes, Spyderco Delica, and Fallkniven F1 were in VG10 BTW, I was typing on my phone at the time, and had trouble seeing my entire text. i.imgur.com//c4HU2K6.gif

    Clickbait. Thought this was a multitool review, instead it's a screen saver of a piece of plywood. Gave up after a minute.

      I used to be a huge SOG guy, but the quality has dropped, and they're branding is RIDICULOUS lol. On my aegis mini the blade says SOG, the pocket clip is skeletonized to say SOG, and even the textuiring on the handles are tiny little SOG logos hahahaha. SOG SOG SOG SOG SOG like wtf lol

    only thing i see needs changing is chisel should be moved to side closest to bevel or beveled flipped.
