I just had the Tenex procedure. I felt relief immediately.
I love your check list. Will show that to my son who’s a physiotherapist.
Wow! I'm printing this out and taking it to my Foot Specialist! Thank you so much!
This is incredible. Thank you for taking the time to create the checklist! I’ve dealt with this pain for quite some time. I’m an avid runner and this has held me back. I’m absolutely getting this taken care of. I’ve been icing, foam rolling etc. I’ve moved a lot for work and I feel like I have to start the conversation all over again when I find a new primary care provider. The checklist is precisely what I needed!!! 🎉
Best video ever!
Best video covering entire options that are available out there. Thank you!
Excellent video I’m having a procedure done on my right heel in a couple of weeks thank you very much
All doctors think everyone has flat feet. My arch is so high i have no footprint, just a couple round spots. I have had the haglunds since i was a kid so I've just never worn shoes but now it hurts all the time.
Hello Dr
Is surgery the only cure for Haglund’s deformity? I have been taking pain killer for the past 2 weeks. I do feel relieved with some exercises. However prolonged standing hurts.
what about side bone pain. is that bone bruise?
I had a Haglunds bone spur removal and Achilles debridement 5 years ago…..best thing I ever did. I’d been in an immense amount of pain for 2 years prior and no amount of anti-inflammatories, physio or steroid injection was going to work. I’m now pain free 99% of the time. The rehabilitation is pretty grim….foot in a cast and non weight bearing for 2 weeks, then a boot for 8 weeks and crutches, no driving for 12 weeks etc….. but 100% worth it if you can get yourself a good orthopaedic surgeon…..luckily I’m in the UK and although a wait, we get the best Drs for free….well we pay our taxes for it lol….I would do it all again if I had to.
Considering this surgery for chronic spur pain. It is effecting my daily life to a point where any walking is painful. How would you say your recovery went in terms of did you feel you got it back to just as strong as before? Im an avid hiker and am worried that it will mean my hiking days are over (daft i know as im struggling anyway now so not much to lose)
Sounds similar to me, had Haglunds for 4 years now.
Triage confirmed surgery is only option left as have tried physiotherapy.
MRI scan booked for early September.
How long did you have to wait afterwards for surgery?
Any issues since from surgery?
I'm in the UK ...it was NHS BEFORE Covid......about 16 weeks from memory. After the initial rehab (12/13 weeks) it's been brilliant....pain free 99% of the time, best thing I ever did. Good luck with yours. @@telfel3447
@@mtn1995 I would say it’s about 90% of my original strength…..certainly beats being in pain……I can still walk as far as I could previously. I think plenty of physio post op is key…..it was for me.
@@susannehouse3857 Thanks Susanne, it’s reassuring to know that you had a positive outcome as it gives me hope for the same.
Hi Dr. - I had the surgery in 1982 - the past 5 years Ive had PT, PRP injections, anti inflammatory, in a walking cast for 3 weeks (didnt help) and recently more PT - the mri shows some micro tears, inflammation, etc. Im now scheduled for a 2nd surgery in Annapolis next month. I cannot live with the stinging pain anymore...so I feel like this is the best scenario at this point...
I heard weight gain can contribute to this condition, I have had this haglunds deformity for many many years,I can't afford medical insurance so I'm stuck with all the pain! Everything in our country, seems to be designed to keep people from having success in education, and having the health we deserve, and they are posioning our food with aspestis ❗💰💰💰💰
Your stinging pain-- how would you rate the pain from the scale 1 to 10? 1 the lowest, 10 the highest.
I have the bumps since 2013 for playing basketball then heading straight to work. The pain I have is bearable but to me it's better to feel nothing at all. Currently, my right heel/ calf feels strange.
In 2021, I talked to a foot doctor but she gave me the impression of a butcher, ready to cut me open, than a doctor. She was like, "oh, we gonna slice than tendon off so we can cut and scrape off that bump." I'm like is there no other way of NOT slicing my tendon??? So yea. I back away.
But now, I'm deciding to go back to the same doctor. My right heel feels strange. 😥
I have very little pain. Can I still play sport?
Great explanation. Thank you very much
This video covers the issue and options in great detail .
One question doctor , my pain is in top area and doctor has confirmetgat its Haglunds , I do have bone spur in the back
Can I have the Haglunds corrected without detachment of Achilles’ tendon?
If is small on side they can cut on side of the achilles and remove a bump if large need to detach.
Hello Doctor, could you please tell me how many session of shockwave therapy are needed for severe Haglund deformity?
Hi great information thank you, I’ve had these on both heels for about 5 years now but they are massive and go around side due to swelling as there so big I’m on lots of pain relief including morphine as I’m in excruciating pain, I can barely walk now;I’ve had X-rays and scans and physio, I’m 59 and doctor won’t do surgery due to my diabetes not being as well controlled as they would like I’ve had different diagnoses off different doctors, I feel as though I’m always going to be in this pain and don’t know where to turn, pain relief doesn’t always help the doctor offered injections but said it will hurt and may not help.
Надо делать массаж и гимнастику стопы растягивать ахилл и катать мячик. Упражнения можно найти в интернете. Ибупрофен немного снимает боль
@@user-bm7xv6vx6byes I do all this and I’m still in pain and it’s not helping
Hi dr. Thanks for information... I want to ask you whats the treatment of a focal bone marrow edema near the insertion caused by a chronic achilles tendonosis over than 2 years... Is it dangerous? can it lead to a bone cancer?...
Hey Doc I have a similar issue but mine is more on the side of my Achilles closer to the heel of my foot. It gives me ankle pain and it’s painful to the touch. Is that the same issue since mine is more on the side?
Achilles Tendonitis is different than Haglund's here is some info www.drpelto.com/achilles
Mines is in the lower right side of tic take toe lol what is that???? I've had it for ten years plus
Thet is calcification. Your body need more k2 , d3 and magnesium to lead calcium to the bones. When you are in deficity of those vitamins kalcium ends up in soft tishue where he suppost not to be like kydnes, tendons. So make shure first to have enough of those vitamins. It is not the shoes like evrybody thinks. If you have anxiety your nerveus sistem pulls a lot of vitamins to survive and thet leads do deficity of vitamins for other proceses in body like storing calcium in right places like teeth and bones .
After we recover from the surgery am I able to do high Intensity sports like running or basketball
how are you doing? Im told Ill be in a cast for 1 month, then walking cast for 3 but can remove the walking cast for driving its my right foot...
How long is the healing time for the ”bump removal” before I can play soccer at 100% again? I have a small bump.
@@DrPelto Which procedure enables patients to recover in just 6-8 weeks? Even Tenex takes a minimum of 4 months to recover enough to get back to running.
were can I contact you dr
Mine sucks I wear size 13 shoe and now if I wear a normal shoe it has to be like 14 or more. I got it from kicking a heavybag in the winter in the cold for a good 2 hours. Afterwards I couldnt even walk.
Hey doctor, I'm from India.Namaste🙏!! My mother is suffering from haglunds deformity since 2 years. She suffers heel pain, and experiences pain while going downstairs, she feels pain while walking, experiences disbalance and also experiences numbness. I hope you're understanding her pain doctor. Can you please suggest help!! What can we do to her to get out of this pain.🙏
Shoes that have much cushion in the back . Start walking correctly. Walk without calf muscle. If that don't work ? Get it to a doctor.
You have excellent specialists in India, why don’t you turn to them? For example, in Samarkand I turn to specialists from India who come to us once a month and give consultations.
@@user-sw2sp1fs1j I just wanted to suggest from UA-cam. My mom went to a doctor and now my mom is fine. Ya you're right Indian doctors are best 👍 because they had to cross from many examinations like neet ug pg etc.
I’ve had it for 6 months and my osteopath and doctor had no idea what was happening they just suggested to drink anti inflammatory. I think this is what’s going on. It’s getting worser and worse. Now I cannot walk more than 30mine without feeling uncomfortable pain.
I am having pain in the left heel. Haglund's deformity is causing me pain
I wanna do the speed bridge cause I'm a basketball player and I be hurting bad
Hello doctor,Nice information..
I had this deformity from past 3 to 4 years.I did all home treatment like lifting heels and also took anti inflammatory but nothing works.I am a obese person, will reducing weight help to cure this deformity?
Hi might help a little but weight isn't the only thing. Consider Shockwave treatment.
In my opinion, losing weight is a good option. Shockwave treatment is not, but thats just my personal experience. As far as i know, there arent any studies for shockwave treatment for the dorsal heel spur...
Watching the bridge looks painful watching it
I've suffered from Achilles Tendonitis in my left foot for about 15 years. Well, lucky me....I now also have it in my right foot. So both feet! Extreme pain. Can hardly walk. I just recently found out that these are also called Haglunds. I wish I could explain the pain i'm in. I have tried everything. Walking boot, stretching, icing, heel lifts, open back shoes, Steroids, NSAID's....I don't know what else to do. I have an appointment with a new Podiatrist soon, as my previous Dr. Suddenly passed away. The thing is....I cannot get through a surgery. I am a single Mother to a Son with Down Syndrome, so I have a full plate, FILLED with challenges and that can't include a cast and crutches. It just can't. Has anyone else experienced this? Thoughts? Suggestions? I welcome any and all input. I am so tired of the constant pain.
Hi, i'm suffering of the same problem in both feet, with bursit and tendinit , and its extremely painful, the worse thing is I live in a country where they maybe never heard of haglund syndrom, so even surgery will be impossible for me here, i've been suffering for 6 months
I have experienced this for 3 years since I was pregnant and soon I will get surgery. Having a toddler, I can understand exactly where you are coming from. Is there anyone that can help you so you can have the surgery. I only say this as another mom, it's going to get harder to care for your child if you are in that much pain.
I'm sorry you are going through this.
Nitrous oxide? CMON MAN.😊
The video is hurried and incomplete. Did you have somewhere to go?
Why didn't you explain the less invasive surgery? Most folks suffering from Haglund's deformity, like myself, have a protrusion to the side of the achilles and not underneath it.
It would have been HIGHLY valuable to see more info about that. But, alas, you were in a hurry!
This is horrible. I can’t work because of this and to fix it I need money from working for surgery. Thanks America

My bump is ginormous. I named it Percival. His friends call him Percy. He's a tender fellow.
