陶傑: You really should refrain from pontificating on American politics. The more you opine, the more you show how little you understand the issues of the U.S. The reason Biden had to pick Kamala Harris as his running mate 4 years ago was to gain the buy-in from Jim Clyburn, without whose support Biden couldn't win the nomination. Picking a black person was one of the prerequisites. The reason Trump picked Mike Pence (to his regret later) wasn't because Pence was some heavyweight. To the contrary it was because Trump liked the fact that Pence was a nobody and couldn't upstage him. You also made a factual error that Pence was the governor of Illinois. No, Pence was the governor of Indiana, one of the poorest and useless states of the U.S. As for Kamala Harris, her credentials actually looked solid at least on paper. She was not a judge as you stated. She started as the City Attorney of San Francisco and then got elected the District Attorney of San Francisco. She went on to become the Attorney General of California and then the U.S. Senator. It is true than San Francisco has become a shithole the last 7 years or so, but it was not on her watch. It was a DA named Chesa Boudin who created and enabled the environment for the crime spree and he was since recalled by the voters and replaced. As for JFK and LBJ, you were incorrect in your assessments as well but I am not going to make the rebuttal since it was 60 years ago. I am not a fan at all of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and yes they are going to lose.
It doesn’t matter. It only matters that Harris is destined to be a loser as vice-president. Refrain from being emotional like a BLM supporter, and do your homework on American modern history

人貴自知，I didn’t sense any emotions in Mr Sydney Chan’s comments, he just laid out the plain facts ! It’s you who got offended when he unveiled your mistakes & got emotional & called him a BLM supporter! What a shame! Maybe 才子is just someone who can recite Chinese poetry , American politics? A load of nonsense!
By the way, I wonder why you shifted the focus to BLM, Sydney just gave you the credentials and facts of both Pence & Harris & others like Chesa Boudin! It’s no big deal Tao! You don’t live in USA & it’s no sin to admit you are wrong! Eat a humble pie and say YUM YUM!
It was a slippery-of-the-tongue mistake that I said Pence was from Illinois. He was indeed from Indiana. Whatever reason Biden chose Harris, it was such a short-sighted and wrong pick, as she has been frozen in her post for nearly four years. Whatever credentials she has, she was not seen performing any duty. It was like Dan Quayle being Bush senior’s deputy.
When Biden was vp, he was active in US diplomacy. It was a dominating vice-President. Such discrepancies show that American domestic politics is fooling around with the fate of mankind, especially at this crucial historical moment, when the world has been pushed to the edge of nuclear war.
We as non-Americans don’t need to know American politics all round to make such a conclusion -- which I think is consensus among a majority of people in the world.
Just like the American people NEVER understand Chinese politics before some of them decided to ‘hug the panda’ twenty years ago, only waking up to the burning of a fire-breathing red dragon. I hold the same arrogance as the American people on China, to make mistakes like describing Pence as from Illinois, in the same way as some Americans mistaking Taiwan for Thailand.
