Haha nice video! You know, I think you should compete in EVERY continent except Antarctica! You make great vids btw. Oh yeah dont forget about the cheggins theme song.
I'm 37 and was worried I might feel out of place, there are other adults competing, but also I was surprised how quickly I forgot about the age difference between me and the kids.
tingman since you clock average was so close to olor's you should do a video where you learn one of the 7 simul methods in secret then surprise her at a comp with her judging you
I recently did my first comp. It was a blast! I set my goals around 5 seconds slower than my times at home to be realistic. My only regret was not entering more events, I was hooked an immediately booked my second that day! Don't worry about your times, just go out and do it, its a really fun day and its a unique experience being in a room with a bunch of other cubers, talking about cubing etc...

I am going to my first ever competition in 2 weeks and I am so excited and nervous. I average around 22 seconds and I felt I was too slow to go to a comp, but your videos made me wanna go
hi ming, I have a quick question, as a fellow christian, how do you balance going to church on sundays and comps? Do you skip church on comp days or do you only compete on saturdays?
Good question. I try to avoid comps on Sundays wherever possible. But also my church has multiple services on Sunday so sometimes I can still make an early service and attend the comp. But ultimately it’s a decision you (and the family) have to make.
1:42 Personally, I always forget to set goals. Basically the only thing I care about is my main event (2x2) and my goals for 2x2 are of course very luck dependent so I'm not really disappointed when I don't do well. Last comp I almost lost my pr streak I have had since my first comp and I barely even realised it.
At the first glance I was surprised that 75% of the voters have never been to a competition. But on second thought I guess it's because there are way more people who do cubing than the available slots in competitions I guess? (At least in Taiwan it's very competitive to register; we jokingly say you have to pass the "Round 0" to attend a competition)
I probably should have watched a video like this before attending my first comp way back mid 2022. I had no clue the difference between groups and stations even after the competition tutorial lol.
Day one of my comp is done. I got a 33 second single in Squan, made finals in Mega, didn’t do 5x5 or 6x6, did badly in Pyra, and got a 38 in OH (I’ve never practiced it) tomorrow I have 3x3, 4x4, 2x2, and skewb. Wish me luck 👍👍👍
What 3x3 cubes are you and olor using? Love your videos😊I’m going to the Norwegian championship🇳🇴 in August and I want to learn OLL, but it is a little bit boring. What should I do to make It more fun?🙃
1:07 I don't. They just don't show up. And if any pile up right before the solve I just take a deep breath and they are gone. I don't get nervous if I know that I've practiced. Another way to not get nervous is to not expect too highly of yourself. I have been wanting a sub 9 3x3 official average and at my last comp I hadn't practiced as much as usual and thought that a sub 10 would be pretty good. And then in round 1 I got it.
yo i hope this vid helps me with nerves, i was rly nervous at a recent comp, trying to get back my OH nr single back(and maybe get average) and i flopped, got a 17 average with a best single of 13, and nr is high 10 single and 12 average, so yeah, i hope the nerves wont get to me next time
I would like to go to a Cubing competition just to see what it’s like, but there are only two in Florida this year and both say that each Cuber can only have one other person with them, which tells me that random spectators are not allowed. My times aren’t nearly good enough for competition, but I would just like to go as a spectator.
If you have a chance of completing a solve in the time limit, you're good enough to enter a competition. At my first competition, i was that one person who was still solving after the rest of my group had finished, and i was just as welcome as everyone else
@@SBCuber64 Not at all. I saw someone who made some mistakes and took more than 2:30 on a solve, and they got nothing but reassurance that their next solves would go better. And on the flip side, when anyone was proud of a solve, their judge was always excited for them. If you get excited about it, the people around you will share that excitement
