I love my G70. Great car for the price...never have to see a dealership. Five years of maintenance included with purchase. Most likely going to be more reliable than all the luxury brands other than Lexus. Biggest bang for your buck. It came down to the G70 and an Audi...I just couldn't find where the Audi was thousands of dollars nicer.
I'm a Korean BMW 3 owner, living in Korea. I still like my 320d's looks over G70's. But it pisses off to no end that I paid ten grand more for a car that makes a hundred horses less. If I didn't still have half my lease left I would switch.
Say what you will, Genesis has been awarded not only #1 from JD Power in initial quality but also the #1 spot in predicted reliability from Consumer Reports for 2018. They must be doing something right. BTW, Kia and Hyundai were #2 & #3 respectively in JD Powers listing for 2018. I love the G70 style. Thanks for the review.
Personally think the Genesis G70 looks BETTER than the current BMW 3-series (tho I know a new one is right around the corner)...and this coming from a BMW fan. I'd bet the Genesis has far better long-term reliability with a driving experience on par with BMW and likely better than Infiniti, Cadillac, Alfa etc.. Seriously considering a used G70 in a couple of years..

Selling strategy I like most from Genesis is very few options and most come loaded so you know what your paying, and great warranty to boot. The other luxury manufactures including all the Germains, Jag, cadillac etc advertise low starting price starts at 39,999 and when you load it up 39 quickly turns into 69,999.

Not a hatch back has a trunk. Since i dont own a track and have never used one i think the AWD. Who has access to a track and if there is someone out there do you need a new friend because ,i would like to drive on one, one time in my life looks like fun.

The ones that learn from their missteps continue to evolve and produce better and better products. The others are no longer around. Then theres the badge status that always seems to matter towards a Korean product because people think they shouldn't be making cars like the genesis cars or the stinger and k900 (If Toyota can build a sports car like the supra and a luxury sedan like the Ls why is it such an issue for Kia build a car like stinger or Hyundai to build a car like the g90?). Third it's rankings according to CR and JD power. Kia had to pay to get their reliability rankings near #1 because there's no way in the world that would happen (I guarantee if Honda and Acura reliability were ranked above Toyota and Lexus despite the isses they've been having no one would say that). Finally theres the "it's still a Hyundai/Kia" which people love targeting on any high end hyundai or kia products. People think that the Koreans should stick to making "cheap" cars meanwhile those words were once said about Toyota and Honda. Some enthusiast have a lack of respect when it comes any products coming out of Korea with a Hyundai/Kia/Genesis logo on them. Why ? Back in the 80s and 90s the reputation of Hyundai and Kia (That reputation pretty much set the standard of what people think of Hyundai and Kia and it's really whats going to affect Genesis ae a brand).
I own a 2013 Tucson with over 200,000 miles. Changed oil every 5,000 miles. Other than brakes, tires, ail filter, wipers, etc. It is running like new and uses no oil between changes. I drive over 50K per year, almost all highway, as a salesman. Great little car. I would not have said that about Hyundai 15 years ago, but today it is a different story. Hyundai is part of a large ship building conglomerate. Several years ago someone at the top decided that Hyundai will build quality cars. They succeeded !!! As far as I am concerned JD Power is BS. Let then evaluate cars after 150,000 miles and then rate them. All brand new cars are good. CR is biased pro Toyota, which has had more than its share of problems lately, but it is being kept under wraps.
People buy a BMW not because it is fast or handles well. A BMW is a status symbol. When the newness wears off, a BMW is still nothing more a daily commute. You cannot drive it on the street or highway as though it is your personal race track unless you would like to subject yourself to frequent and expensive police stops which will also result in exorbitant insurance rates. Even if the G70 were to be better in every way than a BMW, (and it very well may be), it will still viewed by those who seek artificial status, as a poor man's substitute. Yes, there is still a large segment of the population who lack internal status and contentment and substitute it with an expensive car. These people will still be compelled to buy a BMW/Porsche/Mercedes to fill a void in their life. Sad, isn't it.

You will NEVER persuade a die-hard BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, etc driver to park a Genesis in their driveway. Who will drive a Genesis , Kia Stinger , Equis , K900 , etc? Hyundai and Kia drivers who have worked their way up the economic ladder and don't give a furry crack of a rat's rear end what their neighbors think.
That's dumb, just because someone prefers Mercedes and BMW over Genesis doesn't mean they have to be some elitist. Both of those brands have years of engineering and luxury put into them where people have grown to love them, while Genesis is new. I have driven a new G80, and while it is more of a "premium" car it's not where as good as the German competitors. Sure some people buy it as a status symbol, but those cars are much more than that. If you have a favorite sports that you're always rooting for, and someone comes in and tells you that there is a new team that they think is better, are you just going to automatically switch over or continue to like the team you've loved?
I have been driving a 2015 435i coupe with the Mperformance package and just recently i came across the G70 and instantly felt attractive to it. I love how my bmw drives and its true that this brand has achieved the ultimate driving experience and not many can compete but after i drove the G70 3.3T sport, i felt satisfied. G70 drives great and delivers an excellent experience. The quality of this car from exterior to interior definitely meets luxury. I felt like G70 was a lot more of Bmw than Hyundai.
Fyi tfl... This isn't the first car to dethrone the 3-series as the number one compact sport luxury sedan. There was the c class, the ATS, the Guila, and now this... But if you really need that BMW tag, you need the 2 series or M2.
Wait..same 3.3 twin turbo, 365hp & 8 spd tranny, yet 200 lbs lighter than a Stinger... & we're running 4.8 0-60 here vs 4.6 in Stinger? That doesn't make sense.
If they would make a 2 door coupe version to battle the BMW 4 series that would be an interesting fight. The Genesis does have some sharp looks to it. But I'd be hesitant to say that it would ride better than the BMW.
It certainly looks better than BMW 3 series. However, I doubt BMW has anything to worry about because some people will always buy a BMW just because of the name.

JD Power, Consumer Reports and nearly every auto journalist I've read don't agree with that statement. #1 brand in both quality and reliability for 2018 by the for mentioned agencies.
Nope not yet, we can't compare it. FIrst reason is Bmw 3 series only has a V6 in one of its last Trims, the 335i. All the others are straight engines, I4, I6, My thing with Genesis is they started with the Equis which is now the G90, then the G80, then now the G70. that production style to me is wrong, why not start with the lowest trim going upwards? Anyway until Genesis makes Naturally Aspirated engines, then it can rival the Germans. But not now
Tino Reviews ??? You're woefully out of date with your info. The 335 is the 340 now, and it's not a V6, it's an I6, which is turbocharged. Has been for years. All luxury German cars are turbocharged now. Genesis does make naturally aspirated engines, the Lambda 3.8 V6 and Tau 5.0 V8. And their production order matters because why???
@JDubbs07 my bad, I meant to say the Benz C350 which is a 3.5 l V6. Thats what the Genesis should be compared to, just cause its a V6, but nothing else. As for production line, it matters because the way they have gone from the G90 to G70 in three years is amazing to me. Production style matters to investors, I guess I'm talking from a finance perspective, but yes. Why would Hyundayi give build a G70 from the other top trims? doesn;t make sense to me personally. I think its competition right now would be infinity and Lexus IS 350, not the German, not yet. Maybe the G80 can handle that competition.
Tino Reviews still out of touch - the C350 is no more, only the 300 and 43, both of which are turbocharged. What actually matters to investors is not size order, but product lifecycle and associated costs. The G80 came first because the older Hyundai Genesis (BH) sedan it succeeded reached the end of its cycle first. The DH platform was made for current G80, stretched for the G90, then was thoroughly reworked to be shortened for the G70 (and Stinger). All of which takes time and money. You're don't change a release schedule solely on what you think should come first. You stick to the schedule.

Al Rafailov... I agree that the 3 Series is (was?!) the benchmark. It's a well rounded performer that does everything well. I have driven the 320D and it was great. But I drove the G70 2l RWD and it was REALLY nice. IMO, it had a better interior and a better driving feel. Sharper? Anyone shopping in this class would be doing themselves a real disservice by not looking at the G70.

Good try, but still have a far way to go and a lot of competition to surpass. BMW 3 series, Lexus is350, Mercedes C class, Alfa Romeo Guilia, Cadillac ATS... yeah, I would say it still has a lot of work to do.
Maticalise Music Master..The G70 already surpasses most of these cars. Perhaps not as luxurious as the C Benz and not as engaging as the Alpha, but overall, this car kicks ass. We've had it for a year already here in Korea. Really nice car.

Wired, JD power awarded Hyundai motor group the top 3 spots (1,2 &3) in quality for 2018. Genesis is also the #1 brand in reliability for 2018 (consumer reports). Kia is the first non luxury brand on the top 10 @ #6 and Hyundai ranked 10th out of 34 brands. Your trust issues are unfounded.

Driven the Genesis and have driven every 3 series including the M. The Genesis is better than any 3 series of the same price.

If they would make a 2 door coupe version to battle the BMW 4 series that would be an interesting fight. The Genesis does have some sharp looks to it. But I'd be hesitant to say that it would ride better than the BMW.

JD Power, Consumer Reports and nearly every auto journalist I've read don't agree with that statement. #1 brand in both quality and reliability for 2018 by the for mentioned agencies.

Nope not yet, we can't compare it. FIrst reason is Bmw 3 series only has a V6 in one of its last Trims, the 335i. All the others are straight engines, I4, I6, My thing with Genesis is they started with the Equis which is now the G90, then the G80, then now the G70. that production style to me is wrong, why not start with the lowest trim going upwards? Anyway until Genesis makes Naturally Aspirated engines, then it can rival the Germans. But not now
Tino Reviews ??? You're woefully out of date with your info. The 335 is the 340 now, and it's not a V6, it's an I6, which is turbocharged. Has been for years. All luxury German cars are turbocharged now. Genesis does make naturally aspirated engines, the Lambda 3.8 V6 and Tau 5.0 V8. And their production order matters because why???
@JDubbs07 my bad, I meant to say the Benz C350 which is a 3.5 l V6. Thats what the Genesis should be compared to, just cause its a V6, but nothing else. As for production line, it matters because the way they have gone from the G90 to G70 in three years is amazing to me. Production style matters to investors, I guess I'm talking from a finance perspective, but yes. Why would Hyundayi give build a G70 from the other top trims? doesn;t make sense to me personally. I think its competition right now would be infinity and Lexus IS 350, not the German, not yet. Maybe the G80 can handle that competition.
Tino Reviews still out of touch - the C350 is no more, only the 300 and 43, both of which are turbocharged. What actually matters to investors is not size order, but product lifecycle and associated costs. The G80 came first because the older Hyundai Genesis (BH) sedan it succeeded reached the end of its cycle first. The DH platform was made for current G80, stretched for the G90, then was thoroughly reworked to be shortened for the G70 (and Stinger). All of which takes time and money. You're don't change a release schedule solely on what you think should come first. You stick to the schedule.

Tracy Rosss already beat infiniti and acura, this is already faster and more modern then the IS. The 3 series has been boring and the same exact car for the past 6 years , only competition is the C-Class

Al Rafailov...We know that BMW knows how to make great driving cars. But the current 3 series is a letdown from previous models. Let's hope they get back to their roots. Even if they do, the 3 Series will be considerably more expensive than this G70. It will be interesting.
John Holst .. have you driven the new 3 series? It’s much older and Genesis is only catching up now. There’s a reason why everyone compares this to the 3 series. It’s because 3 series is the benchmark in this class.
Al Rafailov... I agree that the 3 Series is (was?!) the benchmark. It's a well rounded performer that does everything well. I have driven the 320D and it was great. But I drove the G70 2l RWD and it was REALLY nice. IMO, it had a better interior and a better driving feel. Sharper? Anyone shopping in this class would be doing themselves a real disservice by not looking at the G70.
Ricky Holmes ...I agree. But I think this is the model that will really start to change people's perception of Genesis. It's a winner. Especially when you consider the price.

Sadly, this will fail due to lack of dealerships and brand awareness! Not enough will take a chance on this when $50k is just a few less than an M2, a proven status and performance brand.
Good try, but still have a far way to go and a lot of competition to surpass. BMW 3 series, Lexus is350, Mercedes C class, Alfa Romeo Guilia, Cadillac ATS... yeah, I would say it still has a lot of work to do.

Maticalise Music Master..The G70 already surpasses most of these cars. Perhaps not as luxurious as the C Benz and not as engaging as the Alpha, but overall, this car kicks ass. We've had it for a year already here in Korea. Really nice car.
