@@jimflan1712 Oh I agree, Hendo was bang average besides 2-3 seasons when he had world class players around him but that's my point, FSG will probably be worried about giving a player who will turn 34 at the start of next season a new deal on the same or better terms, Virgil is world class but they will still be wary of giving him a contract until he's 36 or 37.
I'll give them room to cook and trust the process until they give me reason to not to and thus far I think well reasoned decisions are being made. I might not agree with them, but it is clear that the front office being very considered in each move
Until they actually fuck something up I'm not going to be bothered. They could all be signed by October and no one will give a shit. I get that its good content, but if it still isn't done by end of November then I'll worry about it.
Its nothing to do with sentimental contracts at the end of the day if the club offers money and years and then the players leave its not the club its down to the players but youll get some people saying its the clubs fault, but that might not actually be the case
You have to assume TAA will have to be our top earner going forward. Assuming Salah agrees a 2-3 year extension at the same pay (350k), that means TAA’s wage will increase by 170k per week (from 180k to 350k) - effectively wiping out the Thiago wage (who was on 200k per week). Chiesa is on 120k which is what Matip was on, so his departure is moot. Then Lucho and Konate are in line for big bumps which will likely get funded by the remainder 30k from Thiago plus 30k that Carvalho was on. Hence it’s absolutely crucial LFC convince Salah and VVD to sign extensions at same or very similar terms. If either asks for a significant pay bump, I don’t see a deal being agreed. The math just won’t work out. The noise from Salah this week makes me suggest he WANTS to stay and money won’t be too much of a sticking point. Let’s hope we can get that done. He will be the first LFC will sort out, because his pay will surely dictate TAA’s contract. VVD will be last.
TAA not getting a deal yet is strange. I’d love him to stay. I’d love VVD and Salah to stay as well but i feel like waiting to make sure of their levels before offering renewals makes sense
From the outside looking in it appeared with all the changes at various levels of the club that contracts were put on the back burner. Surely Trent and virgil will be offered new contracts but salah having a dip on the back of last season. They club probably wanted to wait and see what salah was going to show up this season before committing to a contract for a 32 yr old attacker. After an excellent start to the season I would be surprised if all three didn't get new contracts.
New sporting director starts in a transfer window. No surprise contracts were on the shelf. If not sorted by end of October, I'll then be worried. 2 years for Mo and VVD with a 1 Yr option on top. Whatever Trent wants.
Yep. They could sign three wingers to replace Salah and he would still probably have better output than all of them combined. Players like Salah come along once in 2-3 decades.
People forget john and the FSG hierarchy have nothing to do with this Edwards now runs all this and it was Edwards who brought Salah in against Klopps wishes , as for buying a new MF we've got 3 really good young players Steff who is already first team ready plus Tre and Tyler.
i would say, they didnt spend big due to the fact, that the squad was/is pretty intact - there simply was no need. So i would assume, they wanted to give Slot at least half a season to assess the team based on what he plans to do AND see what happens with the mentioned key player cpntracts. Salah i honestly could not tell: he doesnt strike me as an "overly" greedy player. He has earned and still earns more than any sane person needs for the furture generations of his family to be "ok". And his fitness doesnt seem to decline. I mean look at the guy: The Millner is strong in this one. So IF he leaves he might want to start to lay back a wee bit, because why not? VD might not get faster, but a smart central defender can compensate for that and stay on a top level. TAA i hoenstly cant even imagine anywhere else and neither can he i reckon.
I can’t imagine these boys will want to leave the club but if they do fair enough. I think from a business pov it doesn’t make sense don’t to give them a new deal. Just to the pure fact that Trent for example his contract expires soon and we can’t let a player like him leave for free. Trent, Salah and Virjil are the players that we need locked in for the next 3 or more years
could it be beneficial to sign on these players later, for them to use up the current contract, then having a prolonged contract further along their age. it helps the player and the club if the fees go up, gives the player surety of increase career time...
We MUST sign new contracts with Mo and Virgil. Every big team in the history of football had their best players sign in until retirement. See Kross and Modritz, Maldini Nesta Cafu etc ( Ancheloti Milan ) , Terry Carvalhio Drogba ( Mourinho Chelsea ) , now City, Rijkaard/Guardiola Barcelona had Puyol Marckes Deco, There are many examples in the history. I dont say you should sign your "just good" players, but your generetional talents you must keep them. Mo and Virgil are those type of players. They give values to their teams that you cant measure, real life its not Football Manager where you look only attributes. Sorry for my Engish I am from Greece, i hope you understand me:)
Does anyone know the actual figure of the wages that Liverpool are paying Chiesa? There's speculative and vastly different figures being quoted by online football finance websites. Thanks.
I dont think age should be a problem for someone like Salah or Van dijk, they are still world class players and you wont replace them without paying extremly big fees for other players with the same quality, i think 3 year contracts for them are reasonable... dont replace something if its not broken
We don't have a better CB then Van Dijk, a RB better then trent and a RW better then Salah. To me that sorts it. Get the contracts done, and then in terms of Van Dijk and Salah, start your process in replacing them. Next summer sign an up and coming RW, an Up and coming Left defender and then in 2 years time you can re-evaluate and know for sure its time to move on. If you let these contracts wind down and they leave, you don't get anything back for them and then you have to spend even more to replace them with no guarantee that your team is better. I would be shocked and floored if they don't re-sign these guys. Sentimental or not it would leave a huge gap in our team. They are still very much world class, their dip will come but you can't bank on that now.
Lfc dont like hanging on to players over 30. they did it a bit whilst klopp was with us at his behest but they werent happy. From what I've seen so far fsg are happy to not offer salah and vvd another contract. Trent they may make an exception for but trent may choose to move on himself to madrid.
Contract strategy. I think regarding Salah there was a offer from Saudi in the summer but we managed to keep them waiting until the first year of Slot is done (which makes sense) I actually hope we will let him go on the free due to his contributions over the years.
Basically you’re yapping about letting Salah and VVD go and taking the corporate’s side whilst you know full well that they’re carrying the team. What a sell out.
Just out of interest, what do I get for “selling out” exactly? It’s such a crazy thing to watch this video and think: he wants FSG to “win” AND THEN make that into a comment 😂
@@LaurenceMcKennaonLFC IDK what you get but I meant it as a figurative "sell out" because you're adopting FSG's POV which is crazy cuz they know nth about football. These players are indispensable and still have a lot to offer and you're making the argument for letting them leave on a FREE, just to save the club their wages.
The club has no problem attracting and getting the type of players they want. Mo owes the club nothing and they owe him nothing. He is not the type of player the club is going to try and get the most money out of. It’s respect. It will be up to Mo. but likely only a year long extension. VVD is similar. But could still enough years left in the tank to get a money offer from a big club. Trent is the only one that has enough years in the tank for a 3 year contract, local lad. But all 3 are replaceable.
The same people that are shouting for the club to give Mo what he wants now will also be the same people that will shout FSGOUT when Mo's output falls or gets an injury. Short sighted fans who respond emotionally when they dont get what they want.
If we let VVD and Salah go next Summer, I am giving up with this club until we change owners. I am tired of the fans' money and the endless work from players and staff simply filling John W Henry's and other stakeholders pockets. Our overachieving is hiding the fact we are being skinned to the bone.
I don't feel that there is a problem. If you know Arne Slot he will talk to every player. I think that they all stay. Slot is as clear as a manager can be. He makes people believe. He makes them part of a plan and then will happily stay. Mark my words.
FSG is gearing to buy NBA frnchise for Le Bron everything is geared to that right now. We r lucky we have good squad so we willl ride it out but i don't expeect major trophies until Le Bron retires unless Anfield wills us too finals and we win them
I’m not upset about salah and VVD I’m upset shout Trent Trent should’ve been renewed 2 years ago cause of his age you let the contracts of salah and VVD come down closer to see if they can still perform at the same level so Trent should not have been in this position
i genuinely think FSG expect them all to extend but they’ll also expect them to extend for more money so if they extend them in january for 50k a week more each rather than extend them all now then they save 150k a week until january. It’s the type of penny saving thing we’ve seen them do before, remember when we were going for lavia and we were negotiating over an extra 2/3m for like 2 weeks
Why are you an accountant? Virgil, Mo, Trent are legendary players of the club. If we can't demand that these players stay, what's the difference between us and supermarket customers? In such a situation, looking at it rationally is not being a fan but being a supermarket customer. I want these players to stay and I DON'T CARE about the money. Fans should have the right to be a little emotional.
I’m just going to say this Lawrence I love your vids and you always say your not fsg out or in which In many cases I agree but your always so quick to praise fsg and never criticise Trent and vvd contract shouldn’t even be a discussion this should have been handled idc ab the transfer window if every other club and renew and buy players at the same time why can’t we?
To all, just someone's thoughts, not the facts. He's totally allowed to have them but don't you all get a bit bored with someones views/thoughts that means nothing in relation to the reality that is happening within LFC? He, me, you have no idea till decisions are made. So just wait for the outcomes i.e. facts contract signed or not. Otherwise it's just blah, blah, blah
Don't be fooled FSG have plenty of money that they could be investing into the club. Let's not Fall into a sense of complacency on this matter. Liverpool were the number one selling shirt in the entire world last year and I can guarantee you it ain't because of FSG. It's because of the fans. It's because of Jurgen klopp and what he developed over the 8 to 9 years, not FSG. If they have sat back and made tenfold on their investment which is great and nothing against it. But anybody that says they don't have the money to invest while other teams are investing. Far more is ridiculous and I don't want to hear anything about it. And for you top Reds I'm not talking about spending like Chelsea or man united. I'm talking about spending like Villa for example
Show us how much LFC make from Salah's name alone (let alone his goals and assists)and I'll show you how idiotic some of those "fans" are who complain about his wages!
I appreciate that you're trying to be positive but this is just 17 minutes and change of cope, like the last video about this. We DO have a contract problem. Three of our best players, the spine of our team, are on their last year, and it's becoming a major talking point which is taking away from the focus on the great start we have made. The club have failed to see this coming and if we lose Salah, Van Dijk and especially TAA in one go for NOTHING it will destroy the team. We won't be getting Champion's league football for years, never mind challenge for titles. The club is on the verge of a disaster.
@@LaurenceMcKennaonLFC I might have misinterpreted you but this video and the other one I watched you seem to be saying 'Trust the plan. The club have smart people who know what they're doing. Trent doesnt want to extend his contract because he wants to leave. He won everything with Liverpool and he wants a new challenge. Great opportunity is rising for him next season at Real Madrid. He will be their starting RB, will win many more trophies and will have opportunity to play with his mate Jude. Not to mention that playing with likes of Mbappe, Vini etc is much more engaging than playing with Gakpo, Diaz and Quansah. Also, he is not appreciated by Liverpool fans. On another very controversial note. As a fan since 71' I have come to the conclusion over the years that I despice people that demands and feels entitled to a say in things they have nothing to do with except how they feelings. Feelings has nothing to do in business. We continue to develop the club as a whole in a slow but healthy state instead of taking on massive debts at once.
I might not agree with them, but it is clear that the front office being very considered in each move
you always talk a lot of sense, im surprised you dont have more subs. keep at it, they will come.
Show me ONE player out there who would repeat Salah's numbers every season, let alone "three players"!
Yep. They could sign three wingers to replace Salah and he would still probably have better output than all of them combined.
Players like Salah come along once in 2-3 decades.
nobody was better than Salah at this time, even Gakpo/Nunez/Diaz combined
These players chose to stay at Liverpool and are performing. Get it done
Surely they’d want to see how it is with slot before agreeing to work with him for potentially 3 years
I mean it may also be which players take well to slot and his system why pay such salaries if you don‘t know what works
If liverpool got that 150 for salah fsg would've pocketed it. We wouldn't have seen that money
We need to keep Trent.
2 year deals for VVD and Salah should have been offered a while ago
Contract strategy. I think regarding Salah there was a offer from Saudi in the summer but we managed to keep them waiting until the first year of Slot is done (which makes sense) I actually hope we will let him go on the free due to his contributions over the years.
@@LeperMessiah2 ??
What are u smoking mate?
@@m99xy67 it's just the truth.
@@LaurenceMcKennaonLFCan extra large box, you get an extra large box surely
Surely a unicorn would play in central midfield
The same people that are shouting for the club to give Mo what he wants now will also be the same people that will shout FSGOUT when Mo's output falls or gets an injury. Short sighted fans who respond emotionally when they dont get what they want.
On another subject… how did Salah not get on the Ballon d'Or nominees list?!! 😮
Yes!
Liverpool must give Mo a 2+1 year deal!
You can sell Salah for 150 million and with this money you can build a warehouse, a garden or a statue behind the stadium.؟
FSG is gearing to buy NBA frnchise for Le Bron everything is geared to that right now. We r lucky we have good squad so we willl ride it out but i don't expeect major trophies until Le Bron retires unless Anfield wills us too finals and we win them
The only team that Salah has not scored against is Liverpool yet??
I’m not upset about salah and VVD I’m upset shout Trent Trent should’ve been renewed 2 years ago cause of his age you let the contracts of salah and VVD come down closer to see if they can still perform at the same level so Trent should not have been in this position
Fantastic unicorn! 🦄
i genuinely think FSG expect them all to extend but they’ll also expect them to extend for more money so if they extend them in january for 50k a week more each rather than extend them all now then they save 150k a week until january. It’s the type of penny saving thing we’ve seen them do before, remember when we were going for lavia and we were negotiating over an extra 2/3m for like 2 weeks
1 million percent these players should have been signed up to deals. Shows a bit of disrespect to the players
Don't talk such utter garbage FFS
Throw Keita in to the mix
Why are you an accountant? Virgil, Mo, Trent are legendary players of the club. If we can't demand that these players stay, what's the difference between us and supermarket customers? In such a situation, looking at it rationally is not being a fan but being a supermarket customer. I want these players to stay and I DON'T CARE about the money. Fans should have the right to be a little emotional.
They make it all up as they go along. Lucky billionaires, no real thought, or planning, just luck. 😉😂
Trent's on the re_up!
No I don't think so .
I’m not even sure I’m being positive tbh
@@LaurenceMcKennaonLFC I might have misinterpreted you but this video and the other one I watched you seem to be saying 'Trust the plan. The club have smart people who know what they're doing. If they have let the contracts run down it's for a reason.'
I am saying: No. If this is a plan then it's one I do not trust. I am very upset by this. What are they playing at?
Stop moving your hands around so much.
5+1 for Trent, 2+1 for Mo and VVD. Mo and VVD’s contracts need to be structured around performance bonus’s. They must not be allowed to leave for free
😍😍😍
Trent doesnt want to extend his contract because he wants to leave. He won everything with Liverpool and he wants a new challenge. Great opportunity is rising for him next season at Real Madrid. He will be their starting RB, will win many more trophies and will have opportunity to play with his mate Jude. Not to mention that playing with likes of Mbappe, Vini etc is much more engaging than playing with Gakpo, Diaz and Quansah. Also, he is not appreciated by Liverpool fans. They always criticise his defending, positioning etc. Slot is subbing him off every game for 20 minutes because they are preparing for for life without him.
@@ninomiskulin9286 Who criticizes him lol, It's rival fans that always bring that up are rival fans anytime we try to say he's the best rb in the world
On another very controversial note. We do not buy to buy and that's why we didn't buy a 6 and a defender or 2 despite people raging and almost demanding fsg out. People should have no say in that as long as the club is run healthy and things are, as previously stated, slowly improved.
In Hughes we trust.
