You are so lucky! Through 80 surgeries, head to toe, I had no friend of family present during my recovery. They just did not care. As a result, I lost my two sons, who call me a freak. Today is my 77th Birthday, with not a greeting in site. Your sites are ameriorating tome, and I thank you. Mattiene.

As a trans female, I can verify that being born as a girl in the first place would have made my life so much better psychologically, economically, and socially. Yes self acceptance is a must for trans folk, but denial isn't helping yourself or anybody else. Make do with what you got and love what you get.

I wish I was a woman but I refuse to transition. Even without my family's views (very Christian and conservative) and the cost I know that I nor anybody else would see me as anything but a man. Its not enough for me just to look like one so for me its just not worth it.
Especially considering how my family would react and just how much money I'd have to spend on surgery. While it bothers me mentally I just have to live with it. Fine if transition works for you but I don't believe any amount of surgery will ever change what I am.

Oh my goodness this video was so good!!! I really appreciated your insight and opinion about being "privileged" to pass as a trans woman. I think you made a lot of great points and I totally agree that even if you "pass" as a women more than some other trans women you still experience a lot of not all the same struggles as every trans person. Thanks for just sharing what you think even if you know that some might not agree.

What you said about passing being the goal is exactly where I am right now... I'm male but I feel like I would be so much happier female.... Long story obviously, but I wish I could have long, beautiful hair, I wish I could wear female clothes, I wish I could look beautiful like a woman, I wish I could express the way I am, which is more feminine, without feeling weird about it and "butching it up" everyday of my life to the point I don't even know how I act normally anymore...
But that being said, I don't wont to transition if I would still look relatively male when I start presenting female .... I'm experimenting now as a 19 year old and in college but I'm really concerned because I have so much to move past before I can halt my body from maturing more (I'm really lucky that my body has taken a lot longer to get through puberty). Anyways I don't think I'll transition if I don't pass to be honest, I would want SRS and very minimal facial feminization surgery, I don't mind having a big nose as long as it looks feminine on my face... if that makes sense.. not even the perfect feminine model, but just believable as a female...
Anyways thank you for the videos they've been helping me so much. I actually just recently put the pieces together and realized I'm most likely trans but I've been experiencing dysphoria my whole life... I just never really thought about it until recently (I'm taking my time with the decision though, I can wait at least a month and make sure I know I'm trans instead of acting on impulse and regretting a decision for the rest of my life...)
sorry this was probably long and complicated lol....

This sounds so much like my life's story. I only found out when I was 19 what was up after having been confused for basically all my life, and I hit boy-puberty when I was 14 and it was relatively mild, concerning how my body turned out.
I have known my whole life basically something was not right, but I had no idea what it was and that it actually had a name.
A year after I started growing my hair longer I was perceived to be female for the very first time, but because I had absolutely no idea what to do next or what I envisioned my place in the female role to be I took basically 10 years to start the medical transition part (I transitioned socially earlier, but still) and I pretty much regret starting that late.
Don't be worried about acting on an impulse: there are good mental healthcare professionels (well, depends on where you life maybe) that are very much able to seperate people that have not thought this through enough and the people who do.
There will always be people who might not have the right reasons for transitioning and the mental healthcare professionals are there to stop people from making a decision they might regret heavily in the future.
Try to see if you can find a local support group for some information.

Man I feel the same way, and you would not know it meeting me. I'm very much a typical straight dude with a really hot wife, but I agree on many of your points. My wife is 26 and she models, and I just kind of wish I could have her body and I enjoy imagining what life would be like had I been born female. I know I'd be a lot happier in general if I was female for some reason.. I'm not saying I'm unhappy at all, it's just this deep thought I have on a constant basis. idk, it's rather confusing and depressing at the same time.

Very insightful. I admit I am learning a lot about transgenderism, not just from you but from others' experiences. Thank you so much for your perspective.
That said, I thought you mentioning the ideological diversity among the LGBT community to be fascinating, though it wouldnt surprise me if the majority of that community is very liberal.
I mostly identify as libertarian myself. I would strongly support someone who not only champions tolerance for the LGBT community, but also champions economic freedom as well. Unfortunately we dont have a viable candidate in 2020 that can do both, which is sad.

I think the ultimate disappointment trans people feel come from the fact that no matter how much surgery, or hormones, makeup or clothes, they will never have been born the gender they are striving for. They strive for that ultimate feeling of contentment, but can never truly reach the level they would feel if the dysphoria was part of the equation. Though some can be happy with the way things turn out, I believe ultimately those that have the worst time are the ones that think that all their efforts will make that circle complete, but can't cope with the reality that that one key detail will never be realized. Bless those that struggle with this issue daily.

On the topic of dating a trans person, im a cis male but i honestly don't see dating a trans person as a big deal, ive never met a trans person and ive never been in the position to date a trans person but i understand it and im accepting of it, i think if that situation ever came to be id be fine with dating a trans woman, i just don't personally think it's a big deal and it sucks that some people think it is.

very handsome. I didn't even know you were a girl until I scrolled your video's.
but I question Every transgender: why are you trying so hard to be who you're not and not who You are?" why not be happy and contented with the way God and nature made you?
changing who you were biologically born as, injecting yourself with things that to not belong in you and mutilating your born parts, is like mocking yourself. telling yourself that you're not good enough the way you were born. be comfortable with who you REALLY are and not what you FEEL you are.

Aside from that I genuinely enjoy hearing what you have to say content wise. I don't think there is any issues with "passing" per say, as long as it is something you are personally needing, for yourself. The problem for a while was that a part of the community was making it be everything to the point where it becomes hypocritical. To say that a woman is someone that looks, acts, and even dresses a certain way takes away women's rights and is even sexist.

There are two main reasons that people transition: 1) for external validation from others seeing a trans person as the correct gender, and 2) for internal validation, so that the person that we see in the mirror matches the person what we really truly are. I want to transition for the second reason. I don't care if anyone else thinks I'm a man or a woman, I just want my body to match who I am inside.

The thylakoid membrane is the site of the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis with the photosynthetic pigments embedded directly in the membrane. It is an alternating pattern of dark and light bands measuring each 1 nanometre. The thylakoid lipid bilayer shares characteristic features with prokaryotic membranes and the inner chloroplast membrane. For example, acidic lipids can be found in thylakoid membranes, cyanobacteria and other photosynthetic bacteria and are involved in the functional integrity of the photosystems. The thylakoid membranes of higher plants are composed primarily of phospholipids and galactolipids that are asymmetrically arranged along and across the membranes. Thylakoid membranes are richer in galactolipids rather than phospholipids; also they predominantly consist of hexagonal phase II forming monogalacotosyl diglyceride lipid. Despite this unique composition, plant thylakoid membranes have been shown to assume largely lipid-bilayer dynamic organization.
Lipids forming the thylakoid membranes, richest in high-fluidity linolenic acid are synthesized in a complex pathway involving exchange of lipid precursors between the endoplasmic reticulum and inner membrane of the plastid envelope and transported from the inner membrane to the thylakoids via vesicles.

Me too. I think the vast majority of girls like us do. The way I had always thought about things is that I was born with a birth defect down there that I had repaired. The dosages get much smaller after the bottom surgery.

Maya, first, thanks for all the videos you make. Thanks to you, I know more about trans people than I would have otherwise. I'm a man, non-trans, and as such I end up wondering about things, but not asking. I always feel like asking a trans person questions about their life would be prying, as their life is theirs and really isn't any of my business. So then I end up just wondering. That's why your channel is so helpful. It makes it easier to understand more about what life is like for trans people. I find you to be very courageous to talk about this topic in a public forum like this.
I do have a question, which you may answer if you wish to, but certainly are not obligated to. I've experienced when a trans person comes out and lets people know that they're trans. I've seen it both when the born-male person is still male and plans a transition to female and tells his coworkers. I've also experienced when a born-male woman has already transitioned and then she tells people. Each time it's been a big surprise. I've had no idea that that's what was going on until the person tells me. In the one case, the person was still in male form. In the other case, she had already transitioned and was very convincing as female. The result: surprise. Is it okay to admit the truth, in other words, "I'm very surprised; I had no idea"? That was the absolute truth each time, but I could see how that could be taken as a put-down. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I don't see surprise as necessarily a bad thing. I only mean that I did not know, and was not expecting that. However, ultimately I'm willing to accept people the way that they are. If needing to change to another gender is what the person needs, I'm good with that. It's their life. I want others to accept me the way that I am, and so I want to extend that same courtesy to others, including trans people. My concern with a surprised reaction is that they might interpret that as not accepting them, and that's not what I would want. I want them to feel accepted.
If you wish to reply with any insight, I would really respect your view. Thanks.

I really enjoyed watching your Q&A. I share your thoughts about being transgender in so many ways. I almost wanted to get a bit political in this post explaining all the ways that I agree with you, but I think I'll just limit myself to saying that I agree with you on pretty much everything you said in this video. You are far younger than I am, but your courage truly inspires me and I actually love your beauty videos too. I wish you only the best Maya, and I hope you have an awesome time in Iceland.

I'd love nothing more than to be a real woman periods, babies and all. I get that women complain about all of this like omg we are the one that endures the pain of child birth and cramps from periods and having to wear stupid bras blah blah blah. Yeah well maybe I want to be able to complain about it all also! Maybe stop acting like it a course and embrace it somewhere there is someone out there that would switch you bodies in a blink of an eye.

So it doesn't matter whether trans, normal, black or white. Privileged people will always tell you to not talk about privilege, because it makes them feel uncomfortable. Kind of good to know, how normal you are at this point.
Btw. I don't think that the question about "passing as a woman" was meant as negatively as you understood it. The person just asked, whether you're thankful or happy about your privilege.

Just in case you didn't know, some trans girls/women DO get vocal surgery.
Some say it's kind of risky but if you search online you can find a lot of really good before/after results to listen to!
This is another trans UA-camr with really great videos AND a comprehensive transitioning manual for just $8!

Regarding passing, some folks say that shouldn't be the goal because of the rise in gender nonconforming identities. Some would say prioritizing passing reinforces the tyranny of the binary. They also say there are as many genders as there are different fingerprints. From that perspective gender begins to unravel the more we think about it as it applies to us, we gender nonconforming folks.
The most common trans narrative to make it into the mainstream's consciousness is the one where someone is born in the wrong body but transitions and feels whole agaiin. And (as a transfemme author I recently read put it) it was with a lot of blood and tears that that narrative got to where it is today which is why even if that doesn't apply to us we still support those folks 100%. You all are still our trans syblings and we'd fight by your side all the same. However, new narratives are emerging in which folks (I am one of them) say, "I no longer identify with the gender assigned to me at birth, but I don't quite feel like the opposite gender either. No, I am somewhere comfortably in the middle."
Since we no longer identify with the gender assigned to us at birth we are still TRANS. (I identify as transfemme, pronouns: they/them/their.) Gender nonconforming folks just want to be their authentic selves too. They don't feel the need to be either/or, man/woman. But again, if our trans brothers and sisters do want to be a man or a woman we support that!! That's why folks are "mehing" when it comes to the notion of passing.

Related 2 question 2. If someone does not want srs orvcant afford it for a very long time or whatever your reasoning but wants off of spiro(I mean who doesnt) look into an orchiectomy. It's the surgical removal of the testicles. So you'll no longer need spiro. I know I intend on getting it haha

As I get older, (mid-30's) I find myself not caring at all anymore about cis/trans. Frankly, I'm into the feminine form in general, but the actual parts involved don't matter to me anymore. I used to be strictly cis attracted but I've come to find with age and experience in relationships that if you provide the companionship, support, loyalty and love every single person on this earth wants to have (though some deny themselves that), then you're more of a woman to me than some onlyfans girl selling her body to the lowest bidder through her internet connection who has a shallow and meaningless lifestyle that will only last until their beauty inevitably fades away with age.
Not simping at all, it's just an honest fact. Maya is a great example of why I just don't care anymore about cis/trans. Again, not trying to profess some unrequited love here, she's just a great example of why I stopped giving a shit. And she's far from the only example I could use... Pre-op/Post-op, Maya's someone I would TOTALLY date based on her personality and point of view in these videos. She's got better perspective, more experience with serious life decisions and more maturity than most cis girls her age and I'm FAR more attracted to those qualities than just the surface beauty. Though that's not any sort of issue in any way with her either... She's the total package. Okay, maybe there was a tiny simp in there somewhere, but I'm just sayin, if I found a girl cis or trans with her qualities who was single and closer than 6,000mi. away, I'd be working HARD to get with her.

I like Blaire White, I don't agree with everything she says, but I'm glad you took the time to check her out. Some other transgender UA-camrs who cover political issues that would be considered to be right leaning are Theryn Mayer, Danica Lee and Melissa Karlee. Theryn and Danica are both Canadian and Melissa is American.
There's an ex-Jehovah's Witness transwoman who does some political content as well, her name is Laura Engram and goes by JWTgirl. I'm an ex-Jehovah's Witness and find her content interesting.
