HOW TO achieve a realistic skin, texturing affect using Phoenix heat set mediums by Lucie Boiren, as well as Genesis paints! Phoenix and genesis mix, blend, and layer together BEAUTIFULLY creating a FLAWLESS finish! These mediums and paints passed my scratch, squeeze, press, and bend tests and resulted in no cracks, peeling, or sticky residue. Just a beautiful FLAWLESS finish!
Another amazing tutorial! I'm going to give this a go with my GHSP and see the effect. I didn't know that you needed to bake with these mediums straight away so I've learnt something new there, thank you so much! I would love to see tutorials on how you achieve your depth with your skin colouring and perhaps on how to achieve a nice creamy skin colour? I've always struggled with getting that nice creamy tone, they're either too pinky or yellow I feel 🩷
First of all thank you so much for the tutorial and any more you will make I'll be so grateful. I'm very appreciative when artists share their tips!! And thank you for the review of the Phoenix paints. I can't wait to try them. One question though, you said bake after you're done pouncing -so you don't let it dry first? Sorry I just want clarification cause this part makes me nervous lol.
No, if you let the texturing Sit and air out without baking immediately it will go flat, and you will lose all the texturing ❤️ the only paint which requires to be dried first is when you mix it with mineral spirits, because the mineral spirits needs to flash off and evaporate before you can bake.
@@FallenAngelsNursery After all these years I've never heard this about the varnish. Maybe that's why I've struggled with it so much lol. I knew about the mineral spirits needing to evaporate. I can't wait to try, thank you so much!!! ❤️
@@rebornsbyjess2243 this is a skin texturing, and I don’t consider the step varnishing. I do bake matte varnish immediately as well though. But I lay that down flat on my dolls, as I already do texturing with other steps. I Matt my baby very last after all of the painting, hair painting, etc. has been done. And I bake that several times as well. I will be doing a phoenix Matt varnish tutorial/review as well. There are some products for mediums and Varnishes that require air drying prior to baking, like the BC, paints and Irresistibles, etc. but I prefer not to work with those, as they are not for me.
You are very welcome! I worked with Genesis for just about 15 years and I truly feel that I have mastered my techniques at this point ❤️ and after so much experimenting with product, I think Phoenix is pretty amazing!
