MX-6 would be a decent upgrade (and probably the better recommendation in your links below). The reason why people say a pea sized drops isn't enough, is simple too, it was the Go-to back then, but CPUs where a lot smaller back then too. So nowadays people use the 5 Dot Method more often (or the good old spread method, that exists since the ancient ages).
