Just wanted to thank you for the informative video, you saved us having to purchase a new mower. A $0.41part vs over $200.00 to replace the mower? That's a win in my book! Thanks!
Great video, I was pretty sure the lawn that overgrew because of being busy with our little kids on dry days was why I had to give the mower breaks when it shut itself off. This confirms it and will help me change the piece if it ever gets pushed too far 😂 The mower has already saved me gas cost over the last 4 years, so happy to keep using it. Does a good enough job for us!
Hi, thanks for the video! I am having problems getting the replacement 17 amp, 160 degree C temperature control switches from any supplier. Is there an alternative? Could I use, say a 20 amp, 12 volt auto circuit breaker instead? It seems Alibaba is the only place you can get these switches and their website requires opening an account with them. Thanks!
I have a hart 21inch 40v hlpm03 model... In the last couple of months it started frequently shutting off. It only does this when I try to use the mower on self propelled.... If I shut off the self propelled the mower works fine. Any ideas?
Nick I have the opposite issue. Mower quit on me a week ago and every time I tried to start the mower I popped the circuit breaker. I Googled the issue and put a volt meter to the bridge rectifier. It was bad so I ordered some from Amazon. Cleaned every thing up and put the new Bridge on the mower along with thermal paste. To my surprise, the second I plug the extension cord in the mower starts. No safety switch required. I did open the safety/on switch and found out it is spring loaded and every thing popped out. Can't find one diagram of what the internals look like, so put it back together as best I could. I opened it because I was looking for something to be fried or burnt causing the switch to malfunction, but everything looked ok. There is a small plastic square that the wires enter which could be some kind of diode, but again, I can't find one single thing on the internet or the owners manual that provides any information. Regardless, the mower started immediately once plugged in to the extension. Any thoughts on why? The only thing I can think of is the bridge rectifier is bad and I did order additional so I can check that, unless you or others might have some other ideas.
Tom, The switch will have nothing to do with the rectifier. I also opened the switch assembly and it took some figuring out how it works. The reason your mower starts when you plug it in is because the switch is stuck closed. You need to understand how that switch works when the button is pressed. It took me a while to figure it out, but when I did it went together pretty easily. I don't remember now how it went together though.
Good video, but if it does not start at all even when cold, how do you check this is not the safety switch on the handle that is faulty? My mower would not start at all and the safety switch has some significant free play, so the problem may be that the safety switch is inoperative and is not letting the current through. Any advice on how to diagnose and fix that? Thanks.
I have a Bosch corded electric lawnmower which keeps slowing down slowly and stops then about a minute later or so can restart then repeat then finally wouldn’t start at all Is this likely thermal cut off near motor or something else?
My problem just started today. II'll run for, like, 30 seconds, slow down, then stop. A few times, it'll come back on then spin down again while I've been holding the bar. It's not like it's cutting heavy grass or has been running hot, but I'm wondering if it's the same problem. I know next to nothing about electrical stuff or voltmeters, etc. But might the switch be the problem?
If you notice that when it stops, it still spins for a lot longer than when you normally turn it off, then it could be a bad connection on the motor or somewhere else. When everything is connected and working, it goes through a brake resistor that slows it down quickly when turned off. If it takes long to slow down and stop then there is a bad connection and therefore stopping without the brake resistor. You will have to open the cover to look at the connections.
@@nickfixesit1113 Well, I took off the cover, and cleaned all the interior, checked all the connections, etc., but when I fired it up today, it still cut off after a couple of minutes running time. Unfortunately, I don't own a voltmeter. I guess the next thing is to try that part. At least it doesn't cost much.
Additional follow up: Yesterday, a friend ran the tests on the voltage points and it seemed to be fine. But, of course, once I got it home again, it started cutting out. At first, I thought maybe it was overheating, perhaps not enough ventilation. That theory was shot down today when I attempted to fire it up from the start, it ran for a few seconds, then wouldn't respond. Back to the drawing board, and making a call to the manufacturer.

Thank you for this. I had no idea this was a safety feature, not a defect.
Useful! Thanks!
Thank you for the video. It helped me to fix my electric mower. One of the wires that snapped. Thank you again

That was interesting. My old mower did not have thermostat then I ordered KBPC3510. Will modify mine with thermostat.
I appreciate the information. Your detailed explanation helped me to fix the issue and saved me a ton of money.

How do you find the specs on that cable part?
Where do you get lawnmower parts for kobalt ...
Please advise. My trimtech electrical lawnmower is turning slowly. Doesn't pick up speed

@@brucemai1429 Did you ever find a solution?
@@baconpilots7372 Unfortunately, no. I ditched it and bought a Black and Decker!
Do you have a video if the mower works but the self propell just beeps
Thank you bro
Why my electric mower no work when i try cut down jungle? 🤤
Same as mine
Cutting Kikuyu, it stops several times. I just wait 15 minutes for it to start up again.
To be replaced with a jumper wire.
It might start smoking and soon catch a fire if you jumped it
buy a gas mower.
Soon a gallon of gas might cost more than I paid for this electric mower.
F trash mowers that use worthless technology like carburetor.
That is loud and stinks.
