- If you wanted to hear Class 37s having the nuts thrashed off their rocker boxes then if you ventured into deepest Cornwall, I mean darkest deepest Cornwall you were guaranteed to find a mad Cornishman at the helm of a growler or two, my handsome.
37670 powers through Par amidst signals and signal boxes with a Parkendillack to Carne Point clay working on 7th October 1993.
Next we see 37672 hammering up the Luxulyan Valley heading for Goonbarrow and then the same loco at Goonbarrow returning back to Carne point 7/10/93.
Finally this gem of a shot shows 37670 storming through Lostwithiel with additional Silver Buillets heading for Exeter passing 37412 which is just starting the last leg of its journey to Carne Point from Goonbarrow.22/9/93
Class 37 epic 👌the Harley Davidson of the loco world 💪💪👍
My dad had some land next to the shunting spur at Goonbarrow and as a kid I remember some of the thrashing that used to go on! Superb video bringing back memories of a great time and great machines!
You were a lucky chap, Im envious.
Thanks for taking a look.
I'm a train and I approve this video choo choo :D !!
Fantastic video, it's amazing how the busy Cornish branches crammed with Growlers has now been reduced to only the Clay train hauled by the silenced Class 66. A wonderful step into the past! Thank you so much for sharing these memories! :D
I know I just posted a comment in reply to another one, but just wanted to re-iterate how much I love your videos! UA-cam needs more classic railway videos, so yours will forever be welcome I reckon!
Thanks for making this class 37 fan very happy!!
if only we could turn back time! top notch! cheers
@MrStapletonRoad It's surprising that the new generation finds something new to get interested in. To most of us, 66s aren't terribly exciting (I'm not going into that...), but if you grow up with them then I suppose it's a whole new ball game. What my generation likes now will seem odd to the next generation, and so on.
I'd love to go to the 80s, which I never sampled the railways of, so videos like this are worth their weight in gold. Thanks for uploading, I very much enjoyed it!
Great - I like the opening shot at Par - nicely panned. Of course so different in Cornwall now - just a few big clay trains with one 66 - suppose that's progress - at least still using rail.
You guys rock,,,,
Not us. It's the 37s will rock forever!
Marvellous stuff, nothing like a bit of tractor thrash, hear that turbo whine on the single track.
the very best in a package. I still have 2 of my trawlers running with these engines
Fantastic 37 action - one for my Favorites section. Stu
worked on thease at crewe works when they were in for engine upgrade love them !! god that was so long ago thanks for posting
Now this is the freight I remember, none of this 1 Class 66 a week lark, it was RFD 37's going absolutely bonkers everyday up the line through Teignmouth, whether it was clay, fuel to Laira or from the Quarry at Newton Abbot, Thrash was garanteed! I miss those days dreadfully. Superb vid m8! Takes me back a long way! =-D
Nice video Mark.
Excellent shooting of the video, I really enjoyed that.
Sweet vid - thank you very much. Les (London).
EE Diesels seem to be the most successful design. This loco hails back to the original locos built in 1947.
That's the coolest loco horn i've ever heard at 0:31 !
superb footage of english electric locos working in cornwall.
EPIC video,My favourite place (Cornwall) and my fave loco's (37's)
Such great sounds so sad that they are getting way too rare these days. Great vids thanks so much Jez
Fantastic 37 action mate, love these locos. Going to Par St Blazey etc tomorrow and as a visitor on holiday from Scotland would love to see something like this, but sadly, no chance! Thanks for sharing this one, Ken
top shots well filmed !!
@560928 Cheers bud, thanks for taking a look, I echo your sentiments and I fear at some point in the future the hobby will cease to exist.
Long may this generation keep it alive.
Quality thrashage, Eddie!!
These are the sounds I remember from when I was at school in Liskeard in the 70s. Though I wouldn't have known then what I was listening to most of my days at school would have been punctuated by 37s hauling china clay up from St Austell, plus the odd Penzance-Paddington express, all going across the Moorswater Viaduct. As things turned out I moved to (of all places ) a house about 3 away from the GWR at Langport in the early 1980s - I'm sure I don't need to tell you what that sounded like...
Sounding amazing!
@JohnPW22 glad you enjoyed the clips, if you can be more specific about what you need to see I will have a look.
Cheers Eddie
Douglas Adams was wrong. The answer to life isn't 42 - it's 37!
Spot on!
Fantastic vid
Superb video, well done...Bill
Good camera work, a popular engine by all accounts : )
EPIC...thanks!
terrific!!
@dieselmanmike Hi Mike, thanks for checking out my stuff, glad you like it. Cheers Eddie
I think the 37s are great machines: When you think of their prececesors: The LMS 1750hp Diesels built way back in 1947 it shows an old design if its a good design stays with us. You can't fix it better:-))
Music by 37. 👍
Super videos
Made my year these have! Superb! Would love to see extended video of each clip if they exist.....?!?? Modelling the branch and need small details.... Merry Christmas!
The narrative above is interesting: Darkest Deepest Cornwall: Class 37s too! Perhaps a narrative in Cornish language too (Kernewek). And why not? as it's coming back to life as a spoken language.
Great video :-). I like this one a lot :-). Nice one :-). These 37's are amazing diesels you know. Great thrash and claggy catches you caught from each 37 you filmed in this great video of yours :-). Well done, I've seen a class 37 doing a Network Rail Test Train service last year in 2017 :-). It was nice seeing it and enjoy listening and seeing it's thrash and clag :-). Alright then, have a nice evening and take care of yourself :-). See you later Stapleton :-).
From Foxy :-).
Im really pleased you liked this clip. Its one of my favourites also.
Thanks Stapleton :-). I certainly did enjoy watching this great video of yours :-). I can see you are a fairly nostalgic trainspotter :-). Not in a bad way but in a good way :-). I think you should be proud of what you do Stapleton, you really should because you are a good trainspotter :-). I'll look forward to watching more of your videos in the future :-). Have a nice evening and take care Stapleton :-).
From Foxy :-).
Thank you
It's my pleasure Stapleton :-). Have a nice evening :-).

@vorlonb3 Glad you liked it, I am quite new to You Tube but I am getting to know lots of the regulars I also have a Flickr channel. There are lots of like minded people on that site also.
Cheers Eddie
@jez952 Glad you liked it Jez
MUST be a spare driver who got caught for the job! AND WAS TOLD ITS JOB AND FINISH!
@S2RUF Cheers bud
Were the wagons to carry the China Clay converted from use on the coal MGR's? They look like them.....
the lbft must be massive that engine must be doing probably about 1200rpm
Smashing these, where is the best place for me to photograph goods trains in cornwall these days?
I live in Cornwall and would love to see these class 37 units. Are there any running these days that I could see?
Hi, nice vid but 37670 and 37412 are at Lostwithiel not Liskeard!
which route did these trains take through tthe country - thanks
Great stuff - who says that diesels have no heart? PS: In Cornwall it's "my 'ansome"!! No "H" please.
