My diagram calls for a 12v dual coil DPST relay. I can't find much for dual coil DPST relays, I assume a DPDT will work just as well? Do you have any recommendations?

It is a useful video compared to the other ones available on UA-cam. One of the reasons is the classification of relays mentioned at 1:36. Could you also add a circuit diagram for the example shown in the video? As the example pertains to the use of AC current, a warning should be given for personal safety.

Good video. The only suggestion I would make is that your delays in your code should have been set to different values. for instance 4000 and 2000. This way they student would know if they had the relay backwards.

do I have to use the COM ? I only conect my NC to the positive of the led and the negative to GND of arduino, the IN, GND, and VCC of relay are conected

Could you explain why relay is necessary since we can also connect directly to arduino pin and turn on off?

Arduino pins can’t supply that much current . Mostly it’s around 40 ma. So if we want to use any high current devices then we need to use relay .
