I think they could have incorporated interviews by others who have relocated back to Senegal 1 year, 5 years or more to get their perspectives and experiences. They might even want to consider a follow-up so they can educate others who may be considering moving.
They will be back in France within months. Or they will be exploiting their own compatriots paying them cents per hour to get rich. Humanity par excellence.
I'm having this exact feeling currently. I'm coming back to Africa in the next 5 years. I recently went to my original country Guinea and was quite surprised about how everything has changed positively and talking to my friends there made me realize how much wealth I could make there. There is this sentiment you feel in Europe where no matter how much time you spend there, you'll never feel home there. You'll feel different and only in Africa you won't feel disrespected or degraded for who you are. My country Guinea is improving fast, like the income per person has risen by almost 1000 $ and the gross revenue of the country has doubled in less than 10 years.
My husband is half Senegalese and he wants us to move to Senegal in the future. He does not want to raise our children in the United States because of the police brutality and racism he faced as a child and I agree and will be with him. This is very similar to the Black French experience from what I’m seeing.
French culture is very hypocritical they tell you are all equal but is not true. Jobs are hard to find and blacks and Arabs are treated as the problem it is a welfare state. In the United States Racism is more open and direct no pretense at all. All the best in Senegal but make sure you have you own business or look for something remote
Interesting take from this doc is those returning are people born in France who no longer feel a sense of belonging due to hostility/religion/racism and being always looked on as foreigners in their place of birth! It takes courage and maturity to come to this realisation & it’s a personal journey for most of them. The irony is that we have young people dying in their thousands trying to cross the Mediterranean into Europe hoping to find their “El Dorado “ 🤦🏾♂️
@@missn2021The world needs a new world order and hope the BRICS is it because perhaps then people won’t desperately flock the West to escape extreme poverty. The West don’t want them-rioters literally tried to set ablaze an asylum seeker shelter with people in it here in the UK. It’s getting wild!

Africa is a vast and diverse continent with a rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and landscapes. It’s essential to recognize and celebrate its individuality by referring to it as a continent, not as a single country. This perspective honors the distinct identities and unique contributions of each of its nations. Leaving France returning to Senegal.
I get where you're coming from. The "silent exodus" might apply to the diaspora of various African countries based in France, but the experiences presented here were exclusive to Senegalese-French community. It would be interesting to compare & contrast the perspectives of those who voluntarily migrated to countries like Guinea, Burkina Faso, Cameroon & Niger.
The need to return home seems like an irrational one from the outside to those who can't understand the costs of staying. Those who feel it know it, simple as that.

I wish it would be like you say, but it is not true. There are still far more Africans trying to migrate to Europe, then leaving from Europe to Africa.
Wealthy educated middle class black French people with Senegalese ancestry making luxury choices to use their European money to buy a lifestyle in Senegal they could not achieve in France.
@puccaland because for every euro in France, buys double or triple or quadruple the same thing in Senegal. They take their french education, euros and they go to Senegal. They can always return to Europe if things go bad. Luxury choices. Privileged.
@Oharadanny123abcdefg Actually it cannot. Didn't you watch that video? Usually those people try to reproduce what they had in France. They will keep buying at French supermarkets eating like in France, except that everything is imported thus more expensive than in France. That's maybe luxury in Senegal but that's basic in France. The girl in the end was offended because she wasn't considered Senegalese but she doesn't live, speak, act, reason like a Senegalese, she does all that like a French person. Anyway my point was that they can do all that in France. Build a business and live the grand life. Millions of French people of any background even from their ethnic minority do it just find. They chose Senegal that wasn't a luxury choice but an easy choice because of their family connections, good for them. It doesn't mean that they will be more successful or richer.
@puccaland Time to wake up⏰️ Neither France nor other Western countries will ever be a home to the people of African descent. No matter how you want to assimilate, they won't let you.

Ghana actively promoted "home coming" a few years ago and look how that went...it's a beautiful dream but the reality on the continent is brutally disappointing, unfortunately
As these African diaspora move to the continent, African governments will a revenue source. To maintain that revenue stream, African governments will be forced to improve things like infrastructure, waste management, healthcare, etc. This is the case with for example Accra, Ghana. Accra has changed significantly since with increased in tourism from diaspora.
African governments already have more than enough revenue source. The problem is corruption. The money is often stolen by the elite and not redistributed to the masses. Nothing will change because African diaspora have moved to the continent.
I want to go back to afrika with my children but I don t have possibility,I could give everything to be in afrika right now..afrika is the best,Senegal is the best..I don t understand people who are doing everything to come to Europe or amerika, paying so much money for visa,if they knew.. after many many years you will end up with regrets and your children once big, will all desappear, some of them will take a way that hmmmmm.. afrikans think that children have better future when they are born in Europe or amerika but that s not true, maybe about school and work sometimes but once they start becoming teenagers, big and move out from the house you understand..many go back to afrika alone, with not much because you couldn’t save much, children don t have time to come see you, call you or help you if you r in need.. you will see your brother or sister in their home with their children, grand children,in laws,happy..you ,you r alone, unhappy, sad and nobody will follow you to afrika....I regret why some years ago when I went back with my children I didn t stay, now it s too late for me,children are little big and no money..ah la vie..but God is great.took Len afrika, europe diarouko

Maybe because they know Africa or Senegal better than you. That's easy to move to Senegal with assets you got in a wealthier country. Those people don't live the life of the average Senegalese who was born and bred in Senegal.
L'Afrique est un continent a linstar de LL l'Europe. Elle est composer de 54 pays dont le Senegal, donc vraiment dire ke lon retourne en Afrique est un peu vague. Soyons precis.
We all should go back to use our resources, build our communities and invest in ourselves and our people. Most of the problems in Africa, the instability are caused by these colonial powers.
I can relate with the uncle of Marie that there also needs to be certain things we do discreet. Because it is the ignorance that create fear and situations. Because the European is seemingly living their lives in the openness and have left many traditions behind, but what they are doing in the dark and the closeness of their homes that is for them. And than they have to put up with these kinds of situations that black and brown and Muslims people from other parts of the world want to come to "their country" and practice their religion and culture. For many of them it is an insult of everything they have worked and fight for.
Great interesting documentary. Question - does it work both ways then? If lots of young black French people of African origin want to be part of a society and culture where they feel their parents and grandparents values are represented and where they look like the locals and feel like they fit in, does the exact same thing apply to indigenous white Europeans?
Assuming that you actually care for a reply, the various perspectives presented make it clear that the "need" for representation by those who look like them emerged largely (if not exclusively) as a reaction to the racism experienced by many young Black French citizens & their immigrant parents/grandparents. Even after adapting & being integrated into general French society, so many of them noticed that they were still viewed as "the other" rather than equals. If this were not the case, young black French people would feel at home, in their home. Even those from the French Caribbean (which is more culturally similar to the mainland than many other European countries) aren't spared from such discrimination. Ethnically French people are still the overwhelming majority in their nation, and the only segment among them that may reasonably claim to be at odds with modern French values & representation are practising Christians (particularly Catholics). Where in the world are white Europeans settling in large numbers among a non-white majority for your question to even be relevant?
@@isaiah3872 There is no such thing as an ethnic French for French isn't an ethnicity. Who told you that the Black French people don't feel at home and represented. You said it yourself that some face bad things like discrimination. Some aren't supposed to represent everyone. Why a bunch of people are supposed to represent everybody? Those people tell THEIR story it doesn't mean that all the Black French people in France have similar story.
@@isaiah3872 Those people aren't settling in France in large numbers. They are born and bred in France. As per your question the US, Canada, Australia even South Africa are according to your logic countries where white people settle in large numbers, even to the point of replacing the natives. Nobody will tell them to go anywhere.
Didn't you read the conclusion of the story on the screen? It was boldly written he was doing very well in his business and yet to get his Senegalese citizenship. I can't understand why miserable Africans in the West want those who choose to moved back home to fail.
@ It’s really disheartening for you to draw that false impression and conclusion of me. As a Pan-African all I want to see is my people united and most importantly uplift themselves mentally
With the exodus of french speaking africans back to Africa and the continuous resistance of former french colonies now independent countries and the awareness to have valid control over their resources will over time weaken the french economy and make France very weak. Moreover France will be weakened more by issues of radicalization by Islamic groups which will likely implode france over time.
there is this assumption that colonialism was the same .French was the worst because it involved what they called assimilation.. between colonialist and citizens were local elites that only imposed the will of colonialist. 6 of 10 poorest nations of Africa speak french. add Haiti and places like new calendonia
Yeah right. Or tell me I don't know anything about Africa without saying it. All the former French colonies in Africa are ruled by the natives who own all the wealth, power, lands etc. So much we can say about the former British colonies for instance. The populations live in a safe environment and in harmony with the immigrants or colonists descendants. You need to lock yourself up in a high security gated community in the others. The former French colonies have a small population so what about their GDP? They are located in less rich areas in terms of natural resources and yet when we look at the GDP per capita they aren't doing worse than the rich former British colonies. Haiti got independence 200 years ago and has been under US governance for decades. If in 1000 years Haiti still doesn't get its act together you'll also blame it in the colonisation? Haiti wasn't even a colony like the others but a land where slaves were brought to work the land and they weren't asked to assimilate. They got independence right after the end of slavery. Speaking French doesn't make you a former French colony 🤦 What about New Caledonia? That's not even a country. But if it was it would be the 4th richest country in Oceania and would have the 3rd highest GDP per capita in the same league with New Zealand and Australia. So much we can say with all the former British colonies out there? Which coincidentally aren't colonies of replacement where the natives were wiped out, the survivors till this day treated like second rate citizens and all the wealth, lands and power in the hands of the colonists descendants.
@puccaland french neo colonies in Africa still pay colonial taxes to france..they cannt even access their foreign reserves which are stored in Paris. these nations cant access their own raw materials without french permission..most coups in Africa to regimes hostile to french interests... talk to an african from Cameroon or CAR or Senegal.. Frenchman does what benefits him.
French colonialism was actually less brutal and racist if you compare with the English, the Spanish, the Germans or the Dutch. Assimilation is not necessary a bad thing; it also means considering others as equal. Regarding your outdated argument about French speaking Africa: The main reason is because they are in the Sahel. A harsh land with historical violence. Just like Sudan. It has nothing to do with the language. An odd explanation pushed by the British universities.

lol, what value will it add to the economy of Senegal? He didn’t need to relocate to do it either. He can’t use his engineering degree to create job instead
We must still learn I see to face situations on all fronts and know what the consequences are for the steps we are taking in life. Honesty will save the day. For Christians even in the Bible, there is stated that some things you better practice in the closeness of your interior room, otherwise if you are showing off, that is hypocritical.
One must not impose one's choices on others. For example, I was in Dubai during Ramadan, we even drank water out of sight. While as an Orthodox Christian, if i do not observe fasting but a collegue does, nobody will call me out for eating meat in front of her. It's her choice and her trial, one must not boast about that.

One can look into seeking GOD about living or working in Mauritius and St. Lucia! May GOD have mercy on Senegal and grant it favor from other countries to invest in it.
This are intelligent people. The west has turned into one stressful experience and that’s not even taking ignorant racists into account. I am planning to return to west Africa after spending 53 years in UK. Arrived here age 8 years. Just plan ahead, try to secure your place of living first then everything else will be at your own pace.
… start with correcting a big lie, they’re not French at all they may have been born in the country but the notion that only the west must embrace open borders is absurd and sad
The French know better than you who is French or not and they are French. Simply focus at deciding for your country and leave the others out of your ideas.
10:25 somehow l hope I’m overreacting, but it feels like the zeitgeist is that the west is done with Black people now that we are way past slavery and segregation. Populists want to push them out of their societies by ill treating them. And if they leave of their own volition without any reparations, well… that is a tidy little win. But l must say, some countries do try. Germany as a nation has been amazing. German Volk give me hope. Everyday Brits too, have been decent people.

I wish it would be like you say, but it is not true. There are still far more Africans trying to migrate to Europe, then leaving from Europe to Africa.
There are opportunities everywhere so choose where you will be happy to stay
Its good Africans coming back home may your plans come to pass
Thank you brother
Wealthy educated middle class black French people with Senegalese ancestry making luxury choices to use their European money to buy a lifestyle in Senegal they could not achieve in France.
Why they couldn't achieve it in France? Many do.
@puccaland
Time to wake up⏰️ Neither France nor other Western countries will ever be a home to the people of African descent. No matter how you want to assimilate, they won't let you.
They are brave to have tried something new....to have gone beyond what they knew
Very good video.
Congratulations Menka on being featured!!
This is a very good and touching documentary.
Shame on France and shame on the west. France is somewhere as a black man I have no interest in going even transferring through no way .
France is for french. Europe is for europeans
Why? What does that video and some personal anecdote has anything to do with France or being Black in France? Did you even watch the video?
Thanks for sharing
Ghana actively promoted "home coming" a few years ago and look how that went...it's a beautiful dream but the reality on the continent is brutally disappointing, unfortunately
54 countries in africa are disappointing or africa as a country is disappointing? 99% of africans live in Africa..
Nothing worth anything is easy.
Talk of the town is, it was a BIG $$ Grab
Greed is what makes the African continent be what it is today.but in future a generation is coming and it will make it better place to be
Africa is the only place for African no compromise
Sad the good people leaving
As these African diaspora move to the continent, African governments will a revenue source. To maintain that revenue stream, African governments will be forced to improve things like infrastructure, waste management, healthcare, etc. This is the case with for example Accra, Ghana. Accra has changed significantly since with increased in tourism from diaspora.
African governments already have more than enough revenue source. The problem is corruption. The money is often stolen by the elite and not redistributed to the masses. Nothing will change because African diaspora have moved to the continent.
@17:50 “Nobody knows how many people are making this move.”
If the same with me .I moved from Thailand 15 years ago and everytime I go back Thailand now .I feel more regret and regret .There are lot of opportunities in Asia and I miss it .Live in America is work work work all the time ,pay lot of tax and feel you are just a rat run in the box so I think African immigrants will think the same like me just we come from different continent
Maybe because they know Africa or Senegal better than you. That's easy to move to Senegal with assets you got in a wealthier country. Those people don't live the life of the average Senegalese who was born and bred in Senegal.
Home is home my brothers and sisters no regret on your decision ..if it is hard from there come to East Africa we welcome you 😊😊😊

That's correct.
It's very sad to hear an African basically implying that Africa means nothing to them yet it's their motherland! 🙄
Ma Sha Allah

Western invasion is at the root.
God bless you all 🙏🙏👍👏
Great interesting documentary.
Now, I wonder if the Europeans in places like North and South America, Australia etc. also going to start going home.
Would like to know how Menka is doing in his new found home.
He's doing fine. I know he's family in Senegal
He no longer in partnership he has gone solo
39:58 Cette femme, Salamata Konte, a un parcours incroyable, pour l'avoir suivi c'est une vraie force de la nature et un exemple pour les femmes !
there is this assumption that colonialism was the same .French was the worst because it involved what they called assimilation.. between colonialist and citizens were local elites that only imposed the will of colonialist.
Speaking French doesn't make you a former French colony 🤦
What about New Caledonia?
An odd explanation pushed by the British universities.

this is for all the people trying so hard to relocate to Europe, just know that your kids or grandkids will come back.
There was a man on the boat with his wife wearing a hat who looks like the current President of Senegal and his wife ?
A dating app for Senegal ??is that a good idea?good luck
lol, what value will it add to the economy of Senegal?

22:00 i agree totally with the man.I'm african and if we can say no to aspects of their cultures we don't agree with, e.g homosexuality, then they have every right to also disagree with some of our cultures.
But they still want to force the lgbtq agenda on africans
You are born with homosexuality, how can you disagree with that? People have the right to live freely
@24:00 Audrey does not like the values of the west as they have evolved now.
So, what happens if a white European said that of her values?

We also need drastic change in Africa. France can no longer own so much of Africa and not expect immigrants. They are simply following their money.
They just denied vini junior because his colour
10:25 somehow l hope I’m overreacting, but it feels like the zeitgeist is that the west is done with Black people now that we are way past slavery and segregation.
Populists want to push them out of their societies by ill treating them.
And if they leave of their own volition without any reparations, well… that is a tidy little win.
But l must say, some countries do try. Germany as a nation has been amazing. German Volk give me hope. Everyday Brits too, have been decent people.
