Wacky, I am a fairly new Pubg player, I started with this whole quarantine in season 7 and these videos are what made me start watching you. You are the only streamer who teaches these things. Invaluable video Wacky, excellent work.
@@Verndroid I mean-- its not really "wrong" -- its just a choice in how they want it to work. I'm sure on the back in, there is a complicated coding reason why it was made the way it is---- and perhaps the reason they could "fix" it on the ferry and train is because-- no one can drive those things, and they are on a fixed track, coarse and speed... So maybe it was a lot eaiser to code it to the correct physics.
@@calholli I get your reasoning. But looking at their history I am afraid I do not agree :-). I think they always had these gun mechanics in vehicles because they are vehicles. I bet you the Ferry is not a vehicle (seen from the code of the game). It is moving "ground" and thus the players is "moving" on the ferry but stationary in all other vehicles. But it is all speculation of course :)
That's one of the best parts of the game, is the realistic physics. There is even bullet drop as you shoot further distances and different guns even have different velocities.--- just like real life. Which is what makes certain rifles much better at shooting long range, just like real life. Also, there is a "random' factor built into every gun so that, even if you aim at the exact same bullseye on a target, not every shot will land in the same spot--- but instead there is a "cone of fire"... and even the recoil of the guns varies from shot to shot and gun to gun.... When you fire the rifle will quickly rise to a certain point, and then rebound only about halfway back down to where you were aiming--- and both of these also vary from gun to gun and shot to shot.... and finally even your position will change these variables, meaning--- if you shoot while crouching down, the cone of fire will shrink even smaller, so this increases your accuracy when you crouch, even more so if you go prone.... and then finally there are even a few guns that, once you go prone--- a bi-pod will automatically pop out and set on the ground which will cause you to almost have no recoil, just like in real life. Jacky has videos on all of these things I have explained for just about every gun. If you are a physics guy, you will love them all, its fascinating. Oh yeah!.. even the 'attachments that you put on your gun will effect these variables that I explained. So for instance, if you put a vertical grip on an M4, it will lower your rebound making your shots more consistant... same with a compensator on the end of your barrel--- it will lower the recoil, which helps you even more with follow up shots.............. and even SWAY -- as you are looking down a scope, it does not sit still--- each gun will have a certain amount of sway, like in a figure 8 pattern; and you can put a "tactical stock" on some guns, which will even reduce the sway... (you can even press a button that will hold your breath and freeze the sway for just a moment to steady your shot).. The physics in this game are so very good, that's why its kind of a bummer to see that shooting from vehicles isn't programmed correctly, like it is on the ferry. I really think that they need to fix it, because the realness is what MAKES this game what it is..... so again, 'kitting out your rifle is not just for aesthetics-- it actually changes the physics in a meaningful way and makes your rifle that much more accurate and less recoil for follow up shots. I really love it, its great............. and even on the body, there are varying degrees of damage taken--- shots in the arms or legs are much lower than a body shot, and of coarse a head shot is even higher still......... Oh and one last thing, you can even change the Zero of your scope... how crazy is that..... So lets say you are shooting 500 yards at a long sniper shot, you can either raise your crosshair above the target to account for the bullet drop, which will vary depending on the distance and/or rifles used.... OR, you can adjust your "zero" in 100 yard intervals so that you can then use the center crosshair again even for that long range shot, because the bullet drop is accounted for with your scope adjustment. I mean, that type of detail in reality based physics in the game is what they have really gotten right in this game. Its a mind numbing amount of variables that you have to account for.... Not to mention leading your shot on a running target. Obviously you have to lead them even more, the further your shot is away from you because of the amount of time it takes for the bullet to get there; and of coarse you'll have to lead differently from gun to gun depending on ammo used because of the vastly different velocities.... Even shot guns are realistic-- one has 9 pellets and if you are close and all pellets hit, it is very deadly--- but even if you are only 50 metes away, it will not be very accurate due to the "cone of fire" --- but you can put a "choke" on it and reduce that cone of fire quite a bit and give you a much more accurate shot on longer ranges, within reason .... just like real life. They really have thought of everything. Its a very satisfying game to get good at..... Go watch some more wacky videos on the physics, they do not disappoint.
@@calholli aiming down sights reducing pellet spread on shotguns is realistic? That should not be a thing at all. I would agree that the hipfire eccuracy on shotguns should be worse than on ADS, but instead of a larger spread of pellets you would need to have the same pellet grouping placed randomply on a larger "cone" of aim surface. Aiming down sights would then place that grouping on a pinpoint location making it more crucial to ADS on shotguns. Also, a bipod doesn't remove recoil in real life, it stabilises the gun for aiming. Granted insome guns, such as many LMGs the recoiling dominantly pushes the barrel down and a bipod very much negates that. But indeed on more conventional firearms, where the recoil is generally felt as barrel rise, a bipod alone does absolutely nothing to negate that. Aiming in the game is way too easy. Accurate freehand shooting to any distance beyond 50-100 meters is difficult, especially when you need to put several rounds into the same target. Generally you will want to support your rifle on ground or an obstacle to make that happen. While PUBG gunplay is one of the best ones in video games it is still far from realistic.
@@calholli pubg only counts for the bullet velocity In WT, air is present in the shell trajectory, also the Coriolis effect is present when you try to snipe a tank from far away What Jacky said to this video is basic gunnery for Naval realistic battles where you shot at targets much further away
But the glider doesn't have enough speed to give a "horizontal velocity" to the bullet. The bullet exits out of a gun so fast, that the speed of the glider wouldn't have any affect on it. So as far as the glider shooting a still guy on the hill is concerned, all you will have to account for is the bullet drop.
@@gamerslife4me938 sorry man but thats not how physics work. The bullet will have exactly the same sideways movement / inertia that the glider has. If the glider moves 10m/s and the bullet is fired on a 90 deg angle relative to the glider at a speed of 700m/s after a 1 second flight time the bullet will have travelled 10 meters "sideways" to the same direction the glider is moving, when you dont take into account any drag/air resistance.

Probably something along the lines of: Because the player isn't 'in' the faerie, the other horizontal velocity is applied to the player and therefore added to the bullet. But if the player is in a normal vehicle then the player speed is still 0 while the vehicle speed is '85' (or whatever speed) so therefore no other horizontal velocity is applied to the bullet
Great video. Thank you. Wacky, you mentioned that on the train ballistics works like in the vehicle (3:52). But I tried shooting from DMR from moving train on vikendi couple of days ago. Aiming at the building window resulted in hitting spot 1m towards train direction. So I guess ferries and trains are similar world objects.
It looks like to me the devs made the decision of explicitly disabling horizontal velocity when shooting from within a vehicle as the ferry example shows that horizontal velocity is baked into the physics.

you don't "get in" ferry, you go on top of it. With vehicles you kinda become one with it.
@@ehohackner As said in the video trains (in vikendi) work same as normal vehicles, while it's more similar to ferries by your explanation
4:23 also the second shot doesn't deal damage at all, which doesn't make sense. When you spray someone from full health to downed to killed, it takes 20+ bullets...
Great video. And how works in others vehicules from map like trains in Vikendi or loop's trucks from Sanhok?
In regards to the Ferry physics, did you test shooting with any other aquatic vehicles? I'd assume they're the same as other vehicles and this is more of a difference between being in a vehicle rather that on one.
Thank you wackjacky. Sometimes i shoot straight line.
