“Our lips must always be sealed” is my favorite lyric, no doubt.
It’s the duality of the meaning that makes it special:
“Our lips must always be sealed” as in “Our mouths must always be shut tight” (like, we can’t talk at all).
Or maybe it is:
“Our (mine and yours) lips must always be sealed (together, in a kiss)”?
I don’t know what they meant, but I’m a romantic soul and I love thinking they meant “sealed in a kiss”. Makes the whole song a lot more sentimental. ❤️
Omg yes I always thought it was the romantic way without even questioning it, but then I was like what if they mean sealed as keeping a secret and that was so shocking for me a hopeless romantic 😔

Resistance is a song about George Orwell's "1984". The IngSoc is the English Socialism, the party that rule the part of the world where the novel is set and it is a totalitarian regime :) This song is about love and being loved as a political resistance against the IngSoc that professed a No sex and No feelings system based on hate of the enemies of the state. You should really read the book, it's a masterpiece :)

George Orwell wrote the book in 1948, just after WWII as a warning against totalitarian or authoritarian states, like Hitlers Germany or Stalin"s Russia etc. The book is situated in Oceania and. We had to read it in Highschool for our English literature. I just loved it.
