- Maximize your drivetrain’s lifespan by being aware of your chain's wear and replacing the chain when necessary. Chain wear depends on ride conditions and cleaning habits, so it's a good idea to learn how to measure for it:
1. Choose an approved chain wear indicator.
2. Install the hooked end of the tool on a link against a roller.
3. Attempt to install the other end of the tool into the chain.
4. If you can insert the tool, the chain is at 0.8% elongation and needs to be replaced.
5. If you can’t insert the tool, the chain is not yet worn enough for replacement.
Approved chain tools can be identified here: www.sram.com/g...

That's not your best video. Try better next time. That's lacking a lot of info, not to mention you want to check multiple placements on the chain.
With this measure and the 80% limit my chain needs to be replaced after less than 2000km, this is low no?
you need to apply pressure on the right side onto the chain so it sits tight, I had the same problem
This tool work on the new t type flat top chains, is that the chain we’re looking at?
I believe this works for any chain since it’s measuring full links and not subtracting out the roller
Thanks, I really need to replace my chain.
Cual de las dos medidas seria la correcta coger? Video muy simple y mal explicado....
If it’s .8% or less chain is ok. Greater than .8% it’s time to replace your chain, that’s what second example was showing. Poorly explained video.
How does chain wear affect the performance of the bike? If at all.
Chain skips under load
It can also add more wear and tear to all other components which are far more expensive to replace
