Man, credit to JV. He went up against a tough Guardians lineup that's still trying to capture the 1 seed, popped him early, but he went 6 strong and gave us the win. I'm glad, if this is truly his last game with us, that he went out on a high note.
As for playoffs? I'd be terrified sending him out to start a game, but I wouldn't mind him in the bullpen. Just to have him there, I feel, would be a great leadership presence.
Thank you Justin Verlander for everything you did for this franchise.

I forget which game it was, maybe the 18 inning game against the M's? Where he was in the clubhouse and came back out in the dugout to fire up our boys. That's the kinda leadership we'll want in the Post. Whether he's a ace starter anymore or not, I would like his veteran mindset on never giving up. You know as well as I do that if it weren't for Hinch and Dusty at times, JV would've kept himself in the game knowing his stuff is good enough even when he's at 130 pitches haha. That never quit attitude. Gotta respect it. But I think the never give up, never retire mentality might need to be reevaluated after this season for sure. Unless he ends up in Arizona with Stromy and HE can somehow bring his arm back to life.

Did you notice how old looking JV was tonight? It's time for him to pack it in.

@C.J.33 2017 World Series Game 2 in LA. That's the game you're thinking of.
Tbh, i do wonder how much of it this year was just rushing back too soon from injury. Like if we weren't in the dire position we were in all year, if they'd have babied him along a lot more. Who knows.

Everybody is talking about the number one and two seeds in the American League and national league but trust me nobody wants to face the Astros in the post season. They’re that team that’s always in the mix and for the last few years whether you love or hate them is that team you have to respect.

No Breg, Altuve, or Yordan last night and they still secured a series win against one of the best teams in the AL with the lowest ERA. Hats to JV. He actually looked pretty decent last night after he got locked in. Looked like the JV we knew.

Good win and good for JV. Honestly, I'm more concerned about Pressly on the mound in a close game than I am JV as a starter in the post-season.

We're also doing ourselves a big favor by beating Cleveland. It may not "matter" for us as far as our own seeding, but I'd 100000% rather face Cleveland in the ALDS than NY. I don't care that we've beat them 4 times in the past. I don't care about pride. That's still a scary ass team that absolutely owned us this year. I want 7 games against them, not 5. Cleveland losing thes3 games means they stay the 2 seed and we face them in the ALDS if we can advance, and rn it's looking like we get KC, which is definitely what I'd prefer. They're a bad road team, swept them in 4 a month ago, and Tigers have some stout ass pitching starting with Tarik Skubal who is basically an automatic L for his opponents, not to mention they're absolutely on fire and managed by, you know.....AJ Hinch....

That was 4 months ago brother. Astros got a lot better. But I agree, Yankees are darn good this year. But also, it's not how you start, it's how you finish the season.

I don't think R.Pressly has had a clean inning since the Obama administration. He consistently puts the first man on and usually allows the game to be tied or lost
