- A Wyoming family knew their great uncle fought and died as an Army fighter pilot in World War II. NBC News’ Aaron Gilchrist has the story of how one small town in Eastern France reunited with that family to honor the pilot who spent his final moments fighting for their country’s freedom.

@@DunedinMultimedia2 I would be too close to France because they lead us to Vietnam War. The US was close allies with Ho Chi Minh during WW2, but refused to recognize Vietnam as a country because France wanted back in after the war.

It is one of the great pains of my life that I know so little about my father’s family. All I know of my mother’s family is that they are monsters. What I can tell a of my father’s family is that why too, are monsters. Oh, well. I imagine I have ancestors whom enacted bravery at some point, but I have never heard of it, nor did I ever witness it.

The irony is that this report about "a small town in Eastern France" honoring an American who helped defend the town . . . didn't even bother to properly honor the town, itself, by clearly naming it beyond Aaron Gilchrist brave attempt to [mis]pronounce it once. As an American living in France, believe me, that sort of recognition is important to the people here (as it would be anywhere, in fact).
Calm down drama queen.
What a pretentious and irresponsible thing to be upset about.
Besides…the TOWN is honoring a guy.
Not Vice versa.

This isn't a history lesson on the town. It's just coveting their ceremony honoring the pilot

OTHERWISE, a story about Christopher Columbus doesn’t need to mention America, or the story of the Pilgrims, mention Plymouth Rock (or - to further illustrate my main point; that a town’s name in a historical event matters, *especially* to its inhabitants - the people of Provincetown Harbor proudly claim that the Pilgrims in fact landed *there* , first). And Washington didn’t just cross “some river”, nor Lincoln give his famous address at “some battlefield in Pennsylvania”, etc. etc. etc. .. But it’s natural that we care less, if we’re far away from the place in the story. It just comes down to a question of doing what’s correct and polite… and I’ll agree that it’s not a necessity!

I am afraid of nothing anymore.
In the past, I was afraid not having enough time to complete everything that I wanted to in life.
That passed a long time ago though.
What is there to fear? If we would see the truth, then we would have no fear of anything at all, because we would then see that we are in the hands of the good and benevolent upper force. Also, we would see that we have no control over our lives, and we thus have nothing to fear. In short, we have nothing to be afraid of.of and Why?

Americans must vote for leaders with integrity who are willing to protect our constitutions, democracy, and the rule of law. The integrity, core value, and principle of the leaders and the United States should be absolutely more important than any political party and policy. Decent US citizens should unite our country and minimize violence and chaos in our country. Our foreign adversaries would want to see our country leaders initiate violence and divide our country. Our rule of law should hold whoever breaks the law accountable. Without accountability, human rights will be denied, crime will flourish, and impunity for past conflict-related crimes will persist, undermining legitimacy and prospects for reconciliation. Do we want the next generation to live a life without any integrity and kindness? Do we want our society to allow crimes and violence? Do we want our country ruled by a dictator with no integrity for decades who used the presidency for his self-benefits and who pleaded the "fifth" more than 400 times on 8/10/2022 during his deposition for tax fraud? Trump's actions, decision-making, behaviors, and words have demonstrated that he is unethical and has no integrity for decades before, during, and after his presidency. He puts the life of the US spies in danger when he declassified the documents without following the proper procedures and if the documents are in the hand of our foreign adversaries. The foreign adversaries and Trump will be benefited from the violence and division in America. Will any parent want their kids to go to a school where the principal and the teachers are unethical with no integrity?

His plane was going down and he could've just bailed and let it hit the houses nearby. Instead he stayed in the aircraft and guided it to crash into the park. Preventing the deaths of nearby residents and sacrificing his own life instead

@@EnlightnMe48 Yeah, being a fighter pilot was some serious danger. Many pilots died in training or practice flights. The Army Air Forces had the second highest casualty percentages right behind Submariners and higher than Marines.
How culd it be possible ? surely a fake news ! Everyone in USA knows how ungrateful are the french CESM... (sarcasm ;) )
The people in the villages are very nice. The ones from the city, i would sooner hang out with Russian dudes then them...
