I’m new to how to structure a jam. I noticed that the banjo player during a back up switched to a boom chuck style when the mandolin took over the break. I’m guessing that’s because normally the mandolin is doing boom chuck.

Really, the guitar could too. More of a focus on strumming pattern or technique, rather than just which instrument.
