I've been playing with this for a couple of weeks and it's an amazing project. Love it. It's my favorite software synth, right up there with the the TAL J-8. It also comes with a CLAP plugin version, which I've been using in Reaper. The CLAP version is much more efficient.
2 Days ago the Virus TI2 emu dropped. 😉 Some months ago Waldorf MicroQ, and we are waiting for Waldorf Microwave II. Fantastic times for synth enthusiasts. Since I'm also using Linux this is particularly welcome for me because I'm generally only using U-He and TAL synths. Now I have all the synths I have ever wanted and no Windows! Best of both worlds! 😂 I hate W with passion...
First of all, thank you for this wonderful video, it is a shame that I cannot see it with my original ti2 virus in front of me because I had to get rid of it a few days ago, but I will try your explanations with this emulation that promises good expectations and I have been using it for a little less than a week, What I have not achieved is to be able to save my configurations in mid banks as I did in ti2, I will continue to watch this carefully and I will surely ask you that question, you are wonderful, thank you again❤
EXCELLENT VIDEO OLLIE!! YOUR TUTORIALS ARE KILLER HAHAHA!! CAN YOU TELL ME IF THE EFFECTS SECTION HAS COMB FILTER? LIKE WHAT'S IN THE VIPER AND THE VIRUS?
This thing just sounds SO good. Years ago I had a Roland JP8000 and people would say to me to check out the Virus synths. I never could afford to, unfortunately! Now, 20 years later I know what they are talking about, I prefer it to the JP (oh except for a few sounds!). Maybe one day Roland will release a JP8000 VST, I'd definately buy it, or if they don't then maybe someone will figure out how to emulate it!
Beside the way it sound, I just love the workflow, it's soo well thought and efficient (I mean it was developped in 90's)!! When it comes to the JP8000 emulation, there's actually one made by Adam Szabo, check it out : www.adamszabo.com/vstplugins/jp6k/
I read that they plan on making some Waldorf synth sounds work on this program. I would really like it if they managed to make this work for the Blofeld. That synth tends to have incredible sound packs.
I'm not sure if they'll be able to release it tho, been reading that Waldorf wasn't fan of the idea... finger crossed tho, I really want to the waldorf sound / workflow ^^
@@jenslempke7501 Yep. And, Blofeld and Largo sound pretty much identical. But, as we talk about it, DSP56300 project released a Waldorf microQ emulation now. 🙂
This is my dreams come true. I wanted a Ti Polar but it was too pricey for me in 2008, so I opted for a Korg Radias. Still a cool synth, but it's no Virus
Thanks for showing this gem, the emulator has improved a lot with the CPU usage. I can run many instances in my Mac M1pro but the CPU is so low that I'm pretty sure it works with computers with older CPUs
Oh nicee, good to know it works well on an M1, I'm geniunly interested in these machines. When it comes to CPU usage, I don't think comparing an M1 to a classic CPU is a fair comparison x) see my main production machine has a modern cpu, runs the emulator easily with several instances opened, however my old laptop with a 10yo dual core i7 struggles with more than one instances.
looks awesome! how i do to recognize the rom file o just open any editor text and create the .bin file? and later of that , just find my presets and use it?
I was able to get both the chip and virus loaded and running on my pc just fine. Just load both the chip emulator and acces into the vst folder in the Programs folder in the C drive.
so i downloaded the emulator and the BIN file, placed both is vst folder but cubase manager does not recognise then. Should I change the extention name of Osirus to.dll?
Could you please tell me how to add presets from the Virus B or C to custom banks within this as well as add to favorites if possible? Way too time consuming auditioning them all & I'm just not familiar with the hardware. Would love to own one some day & this could be a great way to get a feel of things
Hey dude, you can check out the DSP56300 discord server for more infos, tbh I'm not sure you can add favorites but when it comes to B & C banks, you just put the .syx file in the same folder as the emulator's folder and it should open inside of it :)
really nice video :D i would like to ask about your settings (latency), the dsp is running well, but out of time (also the dsp lfo´s). Are there any tricks to decreasy plugin latency other than samplerate and blocksize? Thanks in advance
The bin file is the ROM file that you put in the same folder as the DLL file, I can't share that but you can google it and there's plenty of websites that has it (for free) :)

I’ve tried it out on my Windows 7 64 bit rig and it sounds excellent.
It really is amazing. I've loaded my TI2 soundpacks without issue and they sound as good as I remember. (Don't have my TI2 desktop anymore)
It's an awesome emulation, despite the sample rate differences it's pretty much the same thing ;)

the fact that all those emulators like Viper and this one....came out right after i bought a virus ti snow....makes me think like what the fuck bro!?
So far non of them can emulate the Grain and the formant oscillators, your Snow is still superior ;)
Now they just need to crack the TI2 and the puzzle is complete
As the Ti has 2 DSPs inside, I don't wanna know how much the emulation will eat from the CPU haha
They did. They just won't release until the TI2 is withdrawn commercially. Personally I think that's a good call from an ethics perspective.
