      @@manuelvh7821 That's too much, in my opinion. You DO want to ruck with considerable amount of weight. However, not so much that you hurt yourself. And not so much that you can't do upwards of 10-12 miles.
      Here's my $0.02 - drop the weight to like 35lbs. Start with that and work your way up. From there, consider either adding weight, increasing intensity, or increasing mileage. You should (I'm not an expert) look at working your way up to a 12-miler with 45lbs - 65lbs.
      Buck...what say you?

    Awesome video! I wish I had this kind of knowledge before going through Recon Selection. There was very little info other than run fast, swim good and do lots of pull ups which doesn’t do much to help rucking, how to carry and distribute weight, condition your feet and get your head right. My step son is graduating high school and signed up for 18x program. His mom and are going to surprise him with a subscription to your program to help him in his journey.

    My junior year of HS (2011), to prep for 12B (the MOS I wanted since both my dad and grandfather were combat engineers, was 21B for my dad though) I started rucking around my 200 acre farm with 100 pounds on in an old army rucksack (Gulf war era) and some combat boots I bought from the Army navy store. Every day until I graduated I would walk a circle around the farm, go home take it off, then run it again.
    When I first started out I was like, holy shit I cant do this, but then I shortened my starting distance, and gradually increased it to cover the whole farm, then when that got easy I started walking trails and climbing the hills around my house with it (I live in Kentucky, lotta hills in my area). It sucked, my back, shoulders and feet hurt, and I swear like I could smell blood through my nose when I got done running. But it all payed off. It made basic a breeze for me, helped too that my dad was a Air assault Sapper so he showed me how to pack the ruck the right way, do the knots and ties, etc.

    From what I know these are the benefits of breathing through your nose:
    Nose acts as a filter filtering out bacteria, dust, etc. There's less chance to get a flu if you breathe through nose. Also your lungs will be cleaner.
    Also, there's a better heat transfer when breathing through nose. In cold environment you would lose heat much slower. And in hot environments you wouldn't get as hot quickly.
    Breathing through mouth maybe can also damage your teeth but I'm really not sure on that one. The idea is that the ph balance will not be optimal for enamel building and stuff like that.

    I’ve never been able to breathe into my nose and out my mouth when running or doing any kind of extensive cardio. For whatever reason no matter how clear my sinuses are before running, it tends to clog up a little mid way through and I can’t breathe through my nose effectively enough to do it lol

    • @someguyusa
      @someguyusa 7 місяців тому

      You might want to see a doctor about that. I nose breathe in all but the very most intense exertion like HIIT. Making that change improved my performance a fair amount.

      @G6Tarantula 7 місяців тому

      @@someguyusa well I seriously don’t think it’s anything to go see a dr about. The only time it’s hard to do is when I really pushing myself in a run. I mean with about 50% effort I can run a 5 min mile while weighing 220lbs. I do military style training exercises dealing with gym workouts and running/rucking long distances. I’m not necessarily trying to break any WR’s here lol.

      @AliveGamingHD there is a gym in my neighborhood 3 miles away (big gated community, very beautiful but half the people here are trash humans) and I ruck there with 40 pounds, workout and lift weights, and then ruck back home for a total of 6 miles and sometimes I will even go twice in one day, but some days I don't do anything. I also like to go for 5 mile or more runs but I am trying to get more muscle and running will work against that.

      @AliveGamingHD yeah I want to be an officer instead of enlisted because I feel like my lack of fear and my ballsyness would serve well as being a leader, but I want to make sure I don't get told that I'm not allowed on the battlefield so I'm going enlisted. I can't sit and do desk work I'm a hands-on kind of guy, it runs in the family. My grandfather turned down an extra $20 on his paycheck because he didn't want to sit at a desk all day. That's just how my family is, most of us like to be right there doing the work with everyone else.
