The greatest I ever saw no disrespect to JB.
Had to defeat the defending Olympic Champion just to make the 1988 Team and went on a 6 year run where he was as close to unbeatable as I’ve ever seen in this country.
He also innovated and reinvented the sport on the feet with his patented low leg attack (although I always credited his impenetrable defense for being the cornerstone of his success.) ✌️🤠
I like John Smith. Maybe the best.
Idk, Smith doesn't seem to be able to compete with Penn state, Iowa etc. His time is over as coach, no?
In fairness, very few coaches have been able to topple PSU and Iowa over the past many years.

@@paulv8133 Jerry Best was my…I mean… John’s partner who endured tens of thousands of low leg attacks as I…I mean John…perfected every imaginable situation and finish.
Although Jerry never rose to great heights, he was an integral part of those 6 World and Olympic Championships. ✌️😃

I'm sure I'm going to get some upset fans but John Smith needs to retire already, how is he going to motivate these young guys who have no idea who he is, he hasn't wrestled in decades, how is this inspiring to the young guys coming in, he hasn't wrestled in decades thats mind boggling to me how he can inspire young kids? He won his last gold in 92? That was 30 years ago, alot of his wrestlers are in there early 20's, cael inspires these young kids because they wanted to be him growing up, again I am not taking anything away from John Smith accolades but no kid he coaches was alive when he was doing his thing, if any football coach at a power house program had his record of late people would be calling for his job why would wrestling be any less, and regardless of what I think stats do not lie, the last time the cowboys were even a conversation at the ncaa's were in 2006, any true cowboy fan would want what's the best for the program and bringing in new talent and having the kids relate to these coaches, how could.this be a bad thing?
