sorry not included a lost video clip. I pour a second coat of glaze inside and dip on the upper outer rim.

    I can't comprehend making 400 of anything. Congrats.😮

As I now have all phases of the process going, so many more to make and most all the glaze firing ahead I'm seeing I didn't completely comprehend 😮making 400 of something eighter.

So very glad to hear. It was the hardest scariest part to design.

That's too bad about the S cracks. Throwing of the hump is tough like that. It does seem like some clay bodies are better suited to it than others. Glad the burnishing helped. There is that stuff called "Bisque Fix"... I have used it before, sparingly. It's good for emergency purposes if the color matches up well enough. It is definitely a skill to throw off the hump. You are a pro at it. It's another one of those skills that new potters probably aren't learning. Thanks for taking us along for the ride with this project 😊

Thanks for following this one. I'm totally immersed but see it's not getting a lot of views. Maybe what's next is predictable or it's such a little thing. I've never got to know a pot so well or have learned so much from one. I'm invited to the wedding.

@@pottersjournal I would say, don't worry about views. Being authentic is all that really matters. I'm sure this project doesn't appeal to a lot of potters because it's a production job that usually happens behind the scenes. Being a full time potter can involve big tasks. I'm sure it's not a subject that will draw a lot of views, but it can be helpful to show what is possible. You could frame the subject of the video to be more of a problem solving topic like "how to be a successful full time potter". UA-cam videos that help answer questions views might have or solve problems are the ones that can get a lot of views. So, this series of videos you are doing is actually a way for a new or even a seasoned potter to see a possibility of how to be successful in a way that they may not have considered. Just a thought. You can still be authentic to yourself as a content creator, but also play the UA-cam game a little bit too. The algorithm wins every time 😉

Great tips Jeff! It's nice to see someone posting the entire process. People who are not potters often don't conceptualize the entire process. Question; I see you nesting the waxed pieces. Do you ever have issues with wax coming off inside the pots and causing the glaze not to stick? I'm looking forward to seeing the glazed results!

Even the entire process it's still hard to get it all in a video. I never stack wax to pot. I couldn't reach the ware board, so they were temporary on the unwaxed bottoms. Stack rim to rim wax to wax and always clean ware board. Big smile here 😊 knowing you watching closely and looking out for me. Thanks.

ahem... so wiping off the glaze on the medallion creates?- a different texture? more definition on the initials? whatever matters not , you have created something very wonderful and unique for all the wedding party for decades . They are very lucky people to have found you.

Always glad to see; is that a knowing smirk you're always wearing? Just a little detail others don't use. Only a little glaze. I dab most of it off my face pots eyes and teeth, the greater part of my garlic grater oil dip plates too.

Oh. 1-dont really want the raw clay in these instances. 2-just a little gloss. 3-if glaze was to tick you might unwantedly lose the defining detail.

The burnishing thing only saved a few. My conclusion with off the hump the s-crack are unavoidable, you will get a few. The big boy pros do too.

I still get some S cracks when throwing off the hump. I suspect the forced drying over the kiln might have exaggerated the s cracks. I have used bisque fix with a pinch of iron oxide to try to match clay body it does work well on greenware. I fire to 04 bisque. Hopefully the wedding party will take a photo of all 400 at once

I have souvenir pots from places in the world where they commonly throw off the hump; they have s-cracks. Pots from big boy potters here that I attended their workshops, and they demoed off the hump; s-cracks. My solution is to just throw more than you need and with 400 you really notice; I only need 320 for the order. The fails clay needs reclaimed but I still think it's easier than doing all individual little balls of clay.
