I see you gents have discovered a "stroad" - a common occurrence in the US, and Florida has some particularly bad ones. It seems like there's infrastructure for things besides cars, but the reality of using that infrastructure is terrifying. Welcome to the USA! Crap infrastructure aside, best of luck to you both, keep up the good work!

"Love cycling", Francis code for "I'm knackered". OTC anti-inflammatories and rest for the shoulder Justin. I shouldn't say that but that shoulder is not going to get better guys. And Francis killing his legs will not help the situation. You guys will only have two injured warriors stuck in the middle of the country.
Ride smart guys, you know how to do it. Its not a race, its survival.
This is an AWESOME epic ride, keep it up but ride smart, please. Watch your health, listen to your body.
    Cheers!

8:21 For a variety of reasons "It's just made for cars" is absolutely the case in a lot of places in the US. Some of it is stupid, and some of it is just the natural consequence of the era in which places got built-up. It sucks for cyclists, and probably even more for hand-cyclists, but it is what it is. I'm afraid this isn't the last you'll see of this situation.
On the up side, I'm really glad that the best and nicest of my fellow Americans are coming out to greet you. I'm jealous of them getting to cheer you on in person, and I'm grateful that they are showing our good side, too.
Chelsea from Select Physical Therapy in Crestview: If you see this, THANK YOU! for helping J&F patch up and keep going. I'll bet you had no idea how many of us are watching these guys every day. We're all grateful.

Sorry that you’ve finally encountered what cycling in the US is too often like. Assholes in giant trucks who are somehow inconvenienced by the existence of other people, and feel totally justified in threatening those other peoples’ lives.
You’re both heroes. I’m watching every day.

Seeing y'all cycle through where I live was so cool! I saw a roadside ad and it looked so familiar, then I realized you were on my local road. I wish I saw you yesterday. I was driving on that road at some point in the day! At the same time I know how bad that road is for cycling and I'm really glad y'all got through without getting ran over. I hope the roads get better from here on!

Don’t let the lack of bike lanes and mean people get to you. Unfortunately not everyone in the States think bikes should be on the road. I’m sure this applies everywhere. There’s more nice people ahead. Love your “Tubey Tow”! All the best. Also looking for some roads off the main roads might supply better bike lanes. I know riding closer to the Gulf has more bike lanes.

Loving watching the trip. Unfortunately, I doubt that's the only small-membered-large-truck person (and I use that term loosely) you'll deal with on your journey. (Look up "rolling coal" sometime). Frankly, the likelihood will probably increase as you move West. All you can do is to not engage, stay safe and carry on.
Incidentally, there is a good bike shop in Pensacola if you guys need anything. Cycle Sports on Palafox. Been around since forever, good folks.

Starting to get worried for the trip now. That injury will not mend itself over night! It's a long term issue. So now it becomes a waiting game, until the other arm feels the strain and starts to complain. You cannot cycle with one arm constantly day in day out over these distances and not expect problems. I still hope the best for you though. You deserve some good fortune with this.

The puncture'd inner tube due to being repurposed should be known from this point forward as a 'Justin Case' to highlight a puncture'd tube is saved 'Just in case, Justin needs a tow or some other problem needs addressing'
    .
The naming convention works on so many levels, imagine needing to strap some luggage down, or prevent a bag from rubbing on your frame.. these challenges could be addressed with a spare tube if you keep one Justin Case.
Everyone needs a spare Justin imho, surely one is not enough. 😂
