Honestly it’s not actually wasting time, a chatty toddler gives away a lot about how they are meeting their developmental goals. And also about their welfare. A happy little chatter is being loved and cared for. She’s confident and feels safe enough to talk to the nurse. It’s beautiful.

You can tell her parents talk to her a lot. That's so important for early childhood development. Kids are sponges and mirrors. They absorb everything you do and say and reflect it back. That's why how you talk and behave around them is so important. I love that the nurse is engaging, allowing her to practice. It's so cute and great for that growing brain!

I worked in L&D and you wouldn't believe the people that refuse to talk to children until they are old enough to actually talk back, because they didn't want people to think they are crazy.

Her intonation, expression, and turn taking during conversation is something I generally do not see mastered in children with language ability. She is above what is expected for her age with speech, and developmentally, it is impressive. I work with children and I've seem where many have not yet mastered important elements of speech, because it is more than their mere words and sentences in conversing with others. Children predominantly crawl before they walk, and walk before they run.

What I will never understand is why exactly people feel the need to specify a race when speaking about something that literally is the same no matter your race ethnicity sex etc. it is vital for all human beings to feel as if they're being heard especially during the formative years being black has nothing to do with it. I'm not trying to be rude but I mean this is one of the big reasons why racism still exists is because people feel the need to define things by race like it's unnecessary you could have made the point that you made without involving race. I understand that the video happens to be a black female and a black toddler but that doesn't take away from your statement being a statement that's true to white people to Asian people and all other races and ethnicities.
