Article from Roadside America:
Lonnie Holloway was a man who got what he wanted. In the end, what he wanted was to be buried in his car.
Holloway began his posthumous planning three years before he died at age 90. He told his sister, who he correctly guessed would outlive him, that he wanted to be buried sitting in the driver's seat of his green 1973 Pontiac Catalina. He purchased a large cemetery plot next to a lightly used road, so the car could easily be driven to the grave site. He also told his sister that he wanted all of his guns piled on the passenger seat and buried with him, so they couldn't be used to kill anyone.
Holloway, his car, and his guns were buried on September 8, 2009. He's still sitting down there in the Catalina, dressed in his best suit and favorite hat.

I have heard my elders always use to say " When you die, ..you can't take it wit you".. Well Mr. Lonnie show made sure he did! 😮
No he didn't it just rotten in the ground
Lonnie sounded like one cool cat! RIP Mr Holloway. Another cool find Scott!
I'm in Georgia and remember when this happened. The local news covered this story and I remember in the story, his sister saying how she initially objected to the idea of him being buried in his car, when he first told her about it, as she thought it would embarrass her family. She said that he argued with her that it was not meant to embarrass his family, but that it was what he wanted, and he simply asked them to honor his wishes. So they did. Definitely a very unique way to be buried. RIP, Lonnie.
I live in Georgia also. I totally remember this story. That Catalina was a big, long heavy car 🚗
My father had a tangerine Pontiac same model. Let me tell you. Even though it was an older car. That car was definitely styling and drove like a dream.. So I can understand Lonnie's luv for his car. They say you can't take it with you. But in Lonnie's case he did. Thanks! For the unique video. Great job!♥️👍👍👏👏✌️
Scott ,
hope you're having a wonderful mother's Day.! Bless all the mothers who aren't with us..
Seeing this man and his wife’s grave with him buried in the car reminds me of the old song… I love it when we’re cruising together. ❤

I grew up on Pontiac Catalinas. That's all my dad would ever buy. He traded them in every two years for a new one. They were big and roomy. I think it's very cool that this is what Lonnie wanted and so this is what Lonnie got. I remember hearing about this story but forgot about it so it's really nice to see your video on it. Lol, your minivan story gave me a laugh. One thing I'd like to know. If he could be buried in a car with guns on the front seat, then why can't I be buried with my dog? Most people cemeteries don't allow that, and it makes me kind of mad because I really wanted to be buried with my Doxie who died three years ago. I think as long as it doesn't hurt anyone and you're paying the money to cover the expenses, then everyone should be able to have their final wishes granted on how they want to be buried. This was an interesting video. RIP to Lonnie and his wife ❤ 💐
Can you be buried with their ashes?
@@SCOTTONTAPE I did not cremate my dog. His remains are buried with two of my other dogs at Arlington Cemetery in Rockford IL. They put them in little caskets and lowered them in the ground just like for people. The cemetery he is in has a section for people and then a different section for pets. They wouldn't put them together though.
Yes I think that’s not right either man, I do know another UA-camr has done a couple different grave sites where the person was buried with their pet, that channel is called Fascinating Graveyards.
One guy I think was a talk show host I’m pretty sure and I believe the other one was where a family was murdered including their pet.
But I’m with you, it should be your choice, I’d have one of my family members go in late one evening and do it for me
if it came to I went first, BUT who’s to say they would, I know I would and if I got caught so be it, I’d have the media involved and start marching for something that matters for a change..
Anyway sorry for being long winded, but that pisses me off.
This is so amazing i remember seeing them driving down the road i was with my dad back then and wow i see you doing my favorite story and them driving his car to the grave... My him and his wife are at rest and driving his car 🚗 for ever amen ..
A very jaunty video about death. Love it. Rip to the legend that is Lonnie and his wife ❤
Love the End of the Road sign at his grave. I hope Lonnie would have liked that, I would.
For some reason I can’t stop laughing at how you said “I think that’s where the car is. And his wife. And Lonnie” 🤣🤣 I literally said out loud “oh shit, I hope Lonnie IS there” 😂😂
Lonnie was a cool cat. Kudos to doing it his way!! Awesome. He must have been a wonderful man. ❤️🕊️🙏
Thank you Scott!! Excellent upload. Lonnie put a smile on my face.
I've heard this story before but for some reason your telling showed me this man's sense of humor. He's buried at the end of the road next to his beloved wife as they drive off into the sunset.
my dad first brand new car was a 1974 it was blue with a white top and I got it when I was 19 back in 89. its nice to be reminded of this great car thanks bro and come back to Detroit again
I’ll be there this summer at some point !
By my father's grave in King David cemetery in Las Vegas, there is a man buried in his car, he was also a tennis player. It's a large family plot.

Now this is really cool! Being buried with your prized possessions dates back to the Egyptian times! You can take some stuff with you when ya go I guess! Great find Scott Stay safe and blessings on your travels 🌼🌻😎♥️
I am enjoying your videos - not morbid, factual, conversational, good length. Thx Scott.
You find the quirkiest topics, and I love it! May all the Holloway's rest in peace.
Sending you warm thoughts of peace and comfort on this Mother's Day, Scott.
Thank you so much Joe
You do find the oddest burials . Interesting . RIP Lonnie . I’m sure wherever you are, your wife and yourself are having a blast 😊

There are Funeral Homes that will pose your deceased loved one in any position you request during their funeral and or visitation. In a chair, standing, playing video games, writing at a desk etc.
Wow… I must say he looked sharp in his car. Rest in love Sir.
When I saw the picture of Lonnie in the driver's seat, in his favorite hat, the words "aw bless him" popped into my mind. ❤
I’m glad that you mentioned the concrete that was poured over it because you know that some moron would think that it was a great idea to try to get the money that he had in his pocket!
RIP Mr Holloway you are one cool guy love your respect for dead Scott A great find Scott !!!
Heard this story when I first got with my Boyfriend that is from Saluda. I lived there for 3 years and always rode by his family is not buried to far from Mr. Halloway. I never stopped to view but can say that it is a huge Saluda story and so happy you covered Mr. Halloway!!
Great job as usual, Scott! At 7:41 they wouldn't dare use the words "Dead End" on that sign. lol
Scott, your videos never fail to be entertaining, educational, and meaningful. ❤❤
I have heard my elders always use tobsay " When you die, ..you can't take it wit you".. Well Mr. Lonnie show made sure he did! 😮
Tuscons are great cars lol, i have one. But new goal, gotta write in my will that I want to be buried in my 67 Chevy Impala. Lonnie seemed like a beautiful human being
Very interesting video. You know Scott, I am a girl that loves cars too but I wouldn't want to be buried with it. And I love you too Scott.🌹🕊🙂
Interesting story of Lonnie H and his wife. I never would have thought of being buried in a car before, and I don't know that there is a vehicle that would mean that much to me. I like the color of Lonnie's car. RIP Lonnie and Alice.
Love the fun bop music. It brought a little extra character to it.☺️

Damn, Lonnie seemed like a super cool individual. Had a sweet ride too, and he was buried in it. I've heard stories of people who wished to be buried in their favorite vehicles, this story right here is the best. R.I.P. Lonnie, another great video Scott 👍🏽😎👍🏽
I've heard this cool story before. I also heard of one where a teen passed away in New Orleans and he was placed in a tomb sitting in his favorite chair with his favorite snacks, video game console, games and a controller in his hands and the Celtics on the tv screen.
Very cool,,haha Pete & Charlie...i can see that,,,very cool upload
We had a 1965 Pontiac Convertible white with turquoise interior. Solid car. I understand Lonnie and thanks for sharing.

The music made me smile!
Hahahaha I loved the intro music to this video, with the cow, etc. I like this guy Lonnie. 😊 He left his house to his dog? Awesome. I drove around a Pontiac once that basically ate altinators weekly for lunch. Was glad to get rid of that POS. Thanks Scott for another great video ❤

Happy Birthday!
Maybe since I mentioned the Road Ends sign, here is another.
Our local funeral home was next to an auto dealer and collision shop.
When you would look next to the doors they use on side of building , the sign next to their parking lot said
BODY PARTS ENTRANCE.....wish I was kidding but I am not .. lmbo..
Glad the cemetery accommodated Mr Lonnie . Sure sounded like one of the good ones that loved his life and wife♡

Thanks you
There is a guy in Mechanicsburg Ohio that was buried sitting on top his Harley Davidson
Good job Scott.
Awesome video
rip Mr. Holloway! Great story!
Sweet ride 🥰
Good story Scott! My husband has a 66 mustang fastback. Don’t think he’d want to go down in that!
As a car guy I can fully understand his love for his car…..
Very interesting, thank-you! This video adds another perspective to final resting places. I do believe that if one wants to get buried in a car - one has to think of the expenses of the choice of cemetery and how many burial plots one would need to rest in... Take care. 🙂
Love that music Scott ❤
