    I have RSV4 1100 Factory. Complaints: 1) headlights, which are narrow and not very bright and very narrow 2) fuel tank opening - it is close to impossible to fill up the thing without a drop of gas on your tank. 3) No fuel gauge 4) not a wide dealers network, so if something breaks it is a month+ to get a spare part to fix. Other than that, it is absolutely phenomenal. Handling is like on rails, very stable, engine is super-smooth, very fast and sound is super addictive, electronics saved all but 1 crashes (I did manage to low-side on it once:)). I put 17K on it last season, and I do have 2nd bike which I also ride.

    Hope you continue to enjoy the bike. I've been an Aprilia fanboy from the day I demo rode a 2014... went right back to the dealer and bought the demo 2014 bike. Now I've built a damn collection. These bikes are amazing, and knowledge is power. Thank you for sharing your experiences, and ride safe!

    These and Tuonos are really attractive to me, get tired of reading the fanboy reviews from motorcycle publications though. It sounds just like anything else on wheels from Europe, better have a bank account. That sucks because they are such great motorcycles to ride. That's why rich folks buy Euro cars and just don't complain, it's about name recognition. These bikes might be an acception to that as they are special to ride. I'm looking right now at various bikes around $10k- MT-10, GSX-S1000, Z900RS Cafe, etc. I did just see Aprilia is offering 0% for 60mos on many 2020 models. I've been riding off and on since 92. I had a new 99 ZX-9R and a 08 CBR1000RR, amongst many others, those being the fastest. Thanks for the info and dealer info!

    100%, my Aprilia is a few years older but the only thing it dose well is haul ass that's it. The thing is only happy in the canyons or on the track. I have had many 1000cc bikes and some are good at everything. My CB1000R is friendly and works well in traffic as well in the canyons. Don't get me wrong my Aprilia is the fastest best handling bike I have ever had. But driving it in town or in bumper to bumper traffic it is not so good. Lets not talk about rear tires, oy. Buy one anyway because it is stupid fun. But if you can afford it make it your second bike.

    • @TheCarolinaHooligan
      @TheCarolinaHooligan 3 роки тому +2

      It’s such a good bike and if you have the money and are near a dealer, and you do a lot of canyon riding or especially if you do track days with it. It’s hard to beat. And the sound it makes is just incredible

    2 tooth up rear at PO box waiting...
    Then, IMHO 2 wheel perfection.

      It’s definitely an amazing track bike and there are very few bikes that handle the way it does, I think it’s hit or miss with some riders, we have seen both sides of the argument in the comments for this video. The owner recently sold his and got a 2020 GSXR 1000 that we are making a really cool review for.

    I have 2018 RSV4 for over a year. Never used a single tool on it, not sure I agree with that it requires maintenance

    • @TheCarolinaHooligan
      @TheCarolinaHooligan 3 роки тому +2

      I mean all bikes require some maintenance, we sited the higher costs associated with owning an Aprilia. It’s a great bike but it’s worth knowing if you do encounter issues such as the ones we experienced that it’s going to cost you more than the average bike.

    If the light comes on, something is wrong and you don't know the cause? The bike might be fine, but I would want to know what was happening. I've been considering the RSV4 RR, but I'm hesitant to buy because the closest dealer is 70 miles and I think that is the deal breaker. I do love the bike though.

    • @TheCarolinaHooligan
      @TheCarolinaHooligan 3 роки тому

      It’s a great bike but yes if that maintenance warning light comes on, you have to take it to dealer and have them check it out, and it can be somewhere between 150-250 just to have them run diagnostics on the bike. So it could potentially mean, trailering the bike 70 miles every time that happens. My buddy has had to drive his bike several hours each time it has happened and it has ultimately led him to want to get a different bike.

    its not worth it I have a 2012 and if I dont get rid of it soon I might have to sell my house to pay for dealer repairs. The bike has had stator problems, fly wheel problems, light problems, constant oil leaks, valve services, service light pretty much never shuts off. Unless you're RICH get a Japanese.

    • @raydolinger1980
      @raydolinger1980 Рік тому

      Ive had a few buddy, you change the oil and ride it.... at 10k -12k you check your valve clearances and adjust if needed... :) If you put track days on it you gonna need to check valves at 6k-8k miles the higher rev running of the engine obviously causes more wear on valve train...

    How’s the reliability so far for you my dude?

    • @TheCarolinaHooligan
      @TheCarolinaHooligan 4 роки тому +1

      So to it’s credit, nothing has ever technically gone wrong with the bike, but it has thrown so many warnings ⚠️ and has had to be taken in and checked by Aprilia and codes turned off, each time it’s around a $300 diagnostics test for them to run. That along with valve adjustments and other standard maintenance have made it a love hate relationship. The cost of maintenance is astronomical in comparison to a Japanese sports bike like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki

    • @Kervrn
      @Kervrn 4 роки тому

      Thanks for the quick reply, yeah I’m picking up a 16 rsv4 RF on Tuesday and wanted to see how others like it and it’s reliability. I figure since it’s a European brand the cost should be high for maintenance. Also from what I know the bike hadn’t been taken in for the big service yet like valves but it’s just at 7k miles so I should be good for a little bit

    • @TheCarolinaHooligan
      @TheCarolinaHooligan 4 роки тому +1

      Kervrn I would definitely try to have it inspected by certified Aprilia dealer if your getting from a private buyer, I believe if I’m not mistaken the first valve clearance check is done at 3k miles, so if it hasn’t been done there could be some underlying issues with the bike later down the road. I would also make sure you live near an Aprilia dealer for maintenance. This one has had to go in several times with the only dealer being 2-3 hours away
