This is probably one of the best examples of cosmic horror in a videogame that I've seen in a long time. There's not meant to be a reason, the mystery, the unknown. All brilliantly told through the gradual degregation of reality and the world around.
@Gamer9175 Yes, the truly horrifying part of it is how it leaves us with so many questions. All that suffering and they never did figure out what was happening to them. They just knew they couldn't risk it spreading.
The idea is good, but they are not doing anything with it. You just have to press the forward button in the whole game, that's it, it's completely brainless. Boring.
Whatever that creature was, it acts like a sort of hive mind. For instance, 1:10:02 when Rennick and Archie tried to leave, this thing made them go into a psychotic episode while going back to the rig. So hypothetically speaking, if Caz did manage to find a way off the rig, he would’ve had the same fate anyway. This horrifyingly shows that there was no chance that any of them were getting saved .
For those stuck at 2:39:20 passing through the pipes, go as rigth as possible to the green metal while aslo swimming forward. It will eventually squiz through
2:53:45 something about this part really gets me... just looking at state of the rig is an absolute nightmare. The fire everywhere doesn't help as well since we're on an OIL rig... I kept seeing stuff about this on tiktok and came for the monsters and the scariness. What I did not expect was the pure, raw emotion this made me feel. What a truly remarkable game, we're 30 minutes in and not a single weapon or killing! Not sure how China expects to sell a computer game in the west without constant gun executions. But this has definitely got that Half-Life Far Cry vibe. A masterpiece. 🍾 🎉
I’m playing on Xbox gamepass. I’m not sure when, but I went to play and only a blank screen would come up. I had to uninstall and reinstall- then it worked fine.
It's hard to watch. You pull the stick (camera) too hard. You look somewhere past when a character comments on something specific (for example, Kaz saw a surviving lifeboat). There are many such moments that ruin the atmosphere of the game. If a character enters a room and says - is anyone there? - and the player has already run to the opposite end of the room, well, that's just BAD for viewing. It is best to go through and act as if it were in reality (the game is very immersive). Moderately smoothly, looking around, not twitching during conversations, etc. It is best to go through some sections several times in advance in order to play through them naturally. In many places in many games, developers make such mini-scenes when the player crawls through the ventilation (or something similar), he can see something (an enemy, a scene, a dialogue, etc.) and here there is also such a thing, but A LOT is simply missed (you were in a hurry or looked in the wrong place).
Definitely noticed it a few times, like completely missing the first time you see Gibbo (when you knock a bucket off of the platform) and later when Scoob’s body is dragged away by Rennick
Watched it all, disappointed in the cliffhanger left as the game ends. [Spoilers below "Read More"] While we get to know the whole rig exploded, we don't get to know whether the big thing survived or not, we don't get to see if there has been survivors who managed to escape before the rig went into an unstable state, we don't really get introduced to a way of knowing if there really was a way to give those monsters a proper sense of humanity. The introduction from a safe to a crumbling story is nice nonetheless, though the ending is really disappointing when you know you have had (at least) 3 hours of gameplay beforehand.
Well, I passed this game. Later than others. I can give a rating of no more than 5/10. The plot is incomprehensible and sad. I don't think the game is worth the money.
Story is lame asf no cool plot twists or lore. The only things I liked were the environment and the scottish accent.. story is empty and boring like any other game

Doubtfully the thing will be killed with this, they could notify the others tho.
Great game, but too much swimming I think…

a gameplay: RT climb, X open, B drop
I think the map size and lack of mechanics is the main hindrance to this game. If those had been expanded on I think this would have been amazing.
I don't think much else could've been added, really. It's kind of meant to be like a horror movie with you in the drivers seat.
Carrion 3D and for the bad team
I only see a survival horror game full of mimirs from gow
kinda weird plot. ain't it?
How could they end it this way?! Why did they end it this way?! He was supposed to survive! Get home to his family! NOOOOOOO! T.T
Man you suck at throwing things :D
Great game though one of the best ive seen
I am avid Windows 7 user got computet to run this game but I don't want to promote the microsoft mysery
Watched it all, disappointed in the cliffhanger left as the game ends.
[Spoilers below "Read More"]
While we get to know the whole rig exploded, we don't get to know whether the big thing survived or not, we don't get to see if there has been survivors who managed to escape before the rig went into an unstable state, we don't really get introduced to a way of knowing if there really was a way to give those monsters a proper sense of humanity. The introduction from a safe to a crumbling story is nice nonetheless, though the ending is really disappointing when you know you have had (at least) 3 hours of gameplay beforehand.
The cheap game is very execellent。😇😇
Well, I passed this game. Later than others. I can give a rating of no more than 5/10. The plot is incomprehensible and sad. I don't think the game is worth the money.
Story is lame asf no cool plot twists or lore. The only things I liked were the environment and the scottish accent.. story is empty and boring like any other game
@@dyingknightbynightI just beat it and yea I definitely feel like it was missing information but it's not a bad game just alright I give it a 6 with a wait on sale
@@isaacboyyy4271 plus the devs claim that there’s “exploration”. I don’t think they know what the definition of the word exploration is because every door is locked, and there isn’t anything to find or learn about like notes and stuff
It's shocking seeing Chinese Room make such an uninteractive game. Even Dear Esther gives you more agency.
Did we watch the same game played? Lmao
Story was decent, but what made it horrible, was the constant profanity. I've never played or watched a game video with as much foul language and most of all, using God's Name in vain. Every other word was using God's Name in vain.
To be fair I think it was realistic. If I was on a rig with whatever this creature is I’d be spitting f-bombs every second 😂
That, and most of the cast is Scottish.
That's what bothered you? Really? Okay.
