I've always heard about Vanos seals leaking on BMWs, that didn't look very complicated to tear down... then again you made it look really easy! Haha

it's always easier to change the vanos when the engine is out of the car;) But maybe thats just me because I'm over do for a spanking.

That was full detailed head removal and cam removal professionally shown! You are a damn good mechanic! And anyone could watch the video and do this after. Especially with a engine stand. Good job on the edits. And footage!

So the water pump jusy magically disappears... not a key component to actually take off the head...

More videos like this! Never get bored wachin engine builds step by step. By the way I think its better to loosen crankshaft's bolts by going from middle to sides, couse in your case you gave the maximum bending moment to the middle of crankshaft by leaving unloosen middle bolts.

I thought there was so much precision in an engine but youre just rippin things out and this tutorial makes it easy for ppl to see what to do. One thing I didnt get was you said the old camshaft rotated somehow and it blew up your engine. How do you avoid that ? Was it in the video ?

Hi, based on your knowledge of this engine, can you see any reason why oil wouldn't flow correctly if the engine was mounted vertically.
I understand that the sump and pickup would need modifying.
Just not sure if the head or cam carriers would create a barrier in the vertical position.
    Thanks

Take the crank out of the s52 it's most likely good use that with custom rods and Pistons do it once and be done the m54b30 pistons are okay but it would be better if u go lower compression rods and use the b28 pistons. Btw the m54b30 is the same crank and rods as the s52
