What is the most fun thing about Leopard Geckos to you?
They're super chill. They come in ton of morphs. Ours is a clown morph and she's awesome. She's in a 50 gallon and uses all of it. She's fun to feed. Seems to come out when you talk to her
Feeding especially when young 😂 the vibrating tail
Cricket song in the Winter. Amicable little lizard.
Keeping track
I have a 4 inch with a 7 inch female and they are good buddies. I cohab. They are amazing. No problem. I can send photos. A ton of hides, and very rarely are they apart.
There's nothing more fundamental to a reptile youtuber than a good ol leopard gecko care video.
I hope this one lives up to the last
Really glad to learn they are cathemeral, mine is awake almost everytime I see the tank. Not glass surfing but I see her walking around at all hours of the day
They just do whatever they want really
@@WickensWickedReptiles😂 pretty much, she was a rescue and is regrowing her tail and missing a toe, she was shy for the first month and hid all the time but for a while now she’s been out pretty much all the time running and enriching herself
I was one of those people that said I would never own a leopard gecko, and then I started watching your channel. Now I have 2 and love them.
I was the same but Adam has sold me on them. I don't have any yet, but I just started raising some baby viper geckos and now I have my eye on their massive cousin. My Blue tongue is about to get an upgrade from a 3x2x1, and a leopard gecko might fit perfectly in there...
Glad to have you on the team! They sure are awesome!
Love when big reptile channels talk about Leo’s. There are a handful of other more intermediate or advanced level reptiles you guys could be talking about but instead you choose to consider the people who are just starting out in the reptile community, that want updated information on how to take care of what we’ve been told is a beginner reptile. Thanks so much. I always look forward to Mondays and Thursdays.
Hey Wickens your the reason I fell in love with Reptiles. I got my leopard gecko a year ago and I love her. Can’t wait to get more reptiles!
Thank you
That is awesome!
dude your video on your "colonies" of leos so to speak is going to be a huge addition to the scientific studies on cohab in captivity. so excited
I can't wait to do it!
Thanks i have had a hard time finding a updated care guide
You're welcome!
Their little cute smiling faces awe. Great vlog today. Have an amazing Thursday and rest of the weekend
Thanks!!!
Thanks for the current guide! I'm headed to Tinley in March for my first Leopard Gecko. Getting back into the hobby after a 25 year absence.
Always keeping us up to date with care. We appreciate it, banger video Adam
Thanks so much!
Hi!I have a Leo (super snow, 6 months) and they’re doing great!tysm for all the advise over the years
I’ve had mine for a year now and she is doing so well.👍
that's amazing
Hey wickens big fan of your stuff hope your channel keeps growing man ❤❤
I hope so too! Thank you for your support
My brother has an older leopard gecko that he’s had since I was small and I’m trying to give him a better life now that I’m old enough to recognize that what he has isn’t enough this was pretty helpful thanks 😁
Omg babe wake up the updated leopard gecko care guide is out
Hahaha
Our leopard gecko has a bask spot at 94. Keep her a heat mat under a hide at 88 then the cool side is my house temp usually about 70. She thrives. Such great pets
THIS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER TIMED; I WAS JUST RESEARCHING FOR MY BROTHERS FUTURE LEOPARD GECKO!!
From an absolute n00b whose done a ton of research: personalities are a thing, so even if you’re planning to cohab and you have a perfect set up, you should have a back up plan for separate keeping. It’s one thing if you’re Adam and you have materials and enclosures all around, but if you are getting two new animals with the hope they live in one enclosure…. You should have two enclosures ready just in case.
I have a leopard gecko. Got her with enclosure and heat pad for only $40 total. Had her a few years. She is great. She sometimes doesn't eat so well, but she is robust and looks well fed
Thank you! I got my first leopard gecko back in September, when she was soooo small. For my lizard, I found that she likes her humid chamber in the cold area of an enclosure, and the dry one in the warm corner.
She’s not an adult yet, and I feed her once a week. I usually see whenever she’s hungry. Precious thing! Also my baby has never made a sound haha. The breeder told me that her mother is not a talkative one either. Her dad, on the other hand, is very vocal.
These creatures are beautiful. I love them so much.
I personally think you can keep 6 Leopard geckos a Komodo dragon and a salt water crocodile cohabitated in a 10 gallon tank. And if you keep a leopard gecko in something bigger then a half gallon tank you’ll stress them out. 😂
Great video though!
That is a great idea, thanks for sharing! 😂
Yeah definitely! just helping the reptile community out 😂
@@Bible-KJB1611😂😂😂😂😂
As long as you have a water feature for the croc, I think you could fit an Orca in there too 😂😂😂😂
Yeah of course
In my 5 favorite lizards. Miss mine, he was in a pretty garbage original in PetSmart in a 5 gallon with like 20 other juveniles so he never wanted to be handled and was very paranoid but me personally I honestly don't really care about holding a lizard i just like watching the behavior. I had to go to rehab to quit drinking though so he was given away and I can't get him back yet because I rent an unheated garage in northern Utah.
Great video. It is funny though, how over the years, the tanks get bigger. Soon it will be mourning gecko in a 4x2x2
hi wwr love you videos I learnt so much about all different reptiles
Awesome! Thank you!
great vid
almost number one comment sooo close
THANK YOU
@5:08 😂😂😂 what's he doing? Reminded me of that meme with the big guy doing a little jig on the spot. 😂
Can i get an updated ball python video i need u my boy u ova inspired me hopefully one day we meet 💯🤲🏾
Love your channel, and it got me and my kids back into lizards. Took the kiddos to an exotic pet expo over the weekend and picked up a crested gecko (not a leopard gecko, but still lol) from a breeder. Your videos, plus some other research I did, really helped me feel prepared to bring the little guy home. Kids love him, he's super chill and fun. Really looking forward to watching him grow. Appreciate the helpful content you put out.
That's amazing, I hope you're all enjoying your new friend
Notification tells me you uploaded this one hour ago... Description shows 10 hours ago.. lolll better late than never I guess
thanks for watching!
They are so precious. I'm not huge on feeding insects but the more I see about leos & cresties, the more I'm tempted to overcome that...they're so darn cute! I'd love to see an updated ball python care guide as well when you have the time
i keep my girl leopard gecko in a 25 gallon tank it seems big enough shes 7 months old and seems happy i just upgraded her from a 10 gallon.
Leopard Geckos is definitely a must have for me because of how cute these geckos are. And a little bit better for where I live if I ever wanted to take them outside for a bit.
I hear ya, they are so cute
Sticks and bricks baby! Can't wait for the leopard gecko movie!
heck yes!
This is awesome ! I’ve been getting deep into researching about leopard geckos this whole week because I’m going to an expo next weekend. I’m really trying to get two Tremper Tangerine geckos
Good luck at the expo! Is it the Toronto expo?
@ I wish it was, I have to visit our northern neighbor sometime. I’ll be going to the Southeast Reptile Expo in Atlanta. This will be the 2nd time this expo is being held and it currently has 96 vendors. So it sounds like it’s going to have plenty to look at and see. Btw do you personally breed your own feeder insects ?, if so would you consider doing a video on that and/or gut loading feeder insects.
Great video Adam, i always learn so much, Thanks
Glad to hear it!
I got my first crested gecko bc of u
I love that
I keep my gecko on a mix of playsand and topsoil per your recommendation and find it perfect. My gecko loves to dig so it provides a lof of enrichment. She has gotten impacted BUT it was not because of her substrate, I was feeding her incorrectly without knowing and her food was too large for her to digest. The vet I took her to was great and she was able to get past that with some TLC. Her substrate has never caused any issues.
She also does bite me because she thinks my fingers are food, but she's never drawn blood. I'm just used to her being a bit nippy. I'm also not her first owner - I got her from a FB group because she was abandoned to some roomates who weren't lizard people, so IDK what her personality was like there. I think she likes me well enough, but we're not best buds lol. I still lovve her though.
The UVB benefits for leopard geckos is one of the few times I found a peer reviewed study that supported the practice. I've found so much of reptile keeping is old lore that comes from breeders doing what they know, so it was nice to find that. I don't want to put a link here and the titles are long, but if you look up uvb leopard gecko research you can find two papers pretty quickly.
My Olive is my first reptile. I love watching her. So much easier than a furry small animal. I get much more joy vs chores with her than my other exotics. I like that I can keep her in my bedroom bc no sound and the light cycle is just the normal cycle. I also travelled across country with her and soooo easy.
They're the best!
it’s like you knew i was thinking of getting one!
Aaaaamazingg❤🎉
Thanks
Excellent video. I have an adult leo I adopted...Great little companion.
Glad it helped!
I have a Hypo Leopard Gecko named Digi and he is a big boy. I measured him out to about nine and a half inches. I show him on my channel all the time when he is chowing on his favorite worms. It's hilarious because he attacks his food like almost like a monitor would. Leopard Geckos are my favorite lizard by far because they have personality or at least Digi does. 🤠🦎
Hey Adam. Was wondering if you could do a review video on this “Hikari LeopaGel”. Our leopard gecko seems to love it. And we found it cause my oldest daughter was terrified of “bugs” when she was much younger and we would let her feed him this stuff and it’s seemed to be good for him. Just wanted your opinion on it. Thanks.
My first reptile pets were from Petco. They lived over 5 years and then dies within 2 weeks of eachother. They were healthy and ate well and had all the stuff Adam recommends here.
So what up with my story? Nothing, sometime animals die.
Very sad but it does happen
Omg thank you sm I was just recently thinking about getting a leopard gecko love yaaaa bald gecko king 🤴❤
Can you do a video about the different bioactive substrates for lepord geckos and bearded dragons?
Yep
This is so useful I have had my leopard gecko for 7 years and hope to grow my collection and my new pictus gecko comes in 10 days I was wondering if you could make a video on them I know that’s a lot to ask but I would love if you did
A video on pictus geckos
Pictus Geckos are awesome
Great video as always
Glad you enjoyed!!
Love ur vids man
thanks so much
I keep mine in 20 gallon because thats what i was told was fine at the time. Now I have plans to upgrade to the 3ft x 18in like you mentioned.
One key thing Adam said here that 95% of novice or inexperienced keepers need to understand:
Impaction is the result when a UNHEALTHY or DEHYDRATED gecko ingests substrate
If your animal is healthy there is no harm with it ingesting some in MOST instances 👍🏽
I’ve kept tons babies & old Leo’s 100% of the time on substrate & never had an issue but yes proper husbandry is key here
Bingo
🦎🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥
Just got 2 Leo’s and one of them is very malnourished tried to eat live food but wouldn’t take it so just found grub pie and had my first success. Any tips would love to see the poor guy grow to be strong and healthy
honestly, just keep trying is the only answer
I’m having the same problem with one of mines
So grub pie?
@ yeah I found it at perxo couldn’t find any at petsmart and it was easy for them to take it
@ thanks
So here’s a tip (I don’t own a leopard gecko.) But my sister she has 2 separate tanks and she keeps the crickets in her geckos old tank and she has a dish with what the crickets eat (Idk) and when she needs to feed her gecko she puts it in the tank and then takes her out and she is not having to go to the pet store every week or month she’s going every other month (Ik this is kinda confusing to read but it’s all I got for tips.)
Oh my god Like four days ago i got my first leopard gecko
My cat makes squeaking sounds like a leopard gecko, and I think my leopard gecko thinks my cat is another leopard gecko when she hears my cat squeaking at the reptile room door.
(My cats are not allowed in my reptile room, and have not met my leopard gecko unless you count them playing telephone through the door)
(I try not to let my cats rattle the door)
that is adorable
Love Leopard geckos bec when they look at you they look like they smiling at you 😂 I have one named Ghostemane 💜
lovely name!
@WickensWickedReptiles thank you I was trying to keep the theme with singes lol like my beaded dragon is Post Malone 🤣
bald guy, in his basement... you forgot on his "new" couch instead of office chair for videos.. and we usually like your opinion and husbandry, it's why we're all here Adam. Thanks for the Vid and hopefully we'll see you at March Tinley!
Hahaha yeah I know, it's the new couch for videos, I'll be on my chair soon enough! See you at Tinley
Hi
HEY
You should do a care guide for eurys! I promise I’ll watch it 10k times
So clue she was sleeping in your hands ❤
Ironic that I just got everything today and have set up my enclosure for the leopard gecko that I’m getting, and this is the first thing that pops up on my feed. Also, early gang!
Perfect timing!
If you don't intend on breeding (don't care about the genes) there's some really cool unique morphs out there that cost next to nothing.... Leo mutts often have really crazy colors, i bought a Orange, Black dotted one and a high orange one with "bad" genes for less than $20 each.
Also as a tip for cohabbing... start with the animals young.... if they grow up together (preferrably even clutch mates) it's much more likely that cohabbing will work out... while throwing multiple old ladies in an enclosure together does not always work out
well said
Omg I’m SO happy you posted this rn! I’ve just been entrusted with my SIL’s leopard, and I’m worried about him 😭 his tail is a little thin, he’s in too small a tank, reptile carpet, no overhead lamp (only floor heating), she only feeds him once a week and has never supplemented and he’s about 5 now.
I tried to feed him yesterday dusted with calcium and d3, but he’s shedding and didn’t touch it. Is it normal for them to not be as hungry during shed? I’m so sorry for the paragraph, I just want to give the lil guy a better life 🥺
I would like to switch to a bioactive tank this weekend and I've been thinking about it. Is there a substrate that I can just buy already made up or should I just go to the local hardware store and get the ingredients to make it
Thebiodude does, kind of pricy though.
Nice video my leopard geckos name is leonard
Great name
You recommend a 4'x2' footprint for Bearded Dragons. That's 2 body lengths by 1 body length for a 24' lizard. Meanwhile, you say a 20-Long is too small for a single Leopard Gecko. That's a 30"x12" footprint, or 1.5 body lengths by nearly 4 body lengths for an 8" lizard.
I've always wanted a leopard gecko, but i got a crestie instead bc I'm in an unfortunate position where I love Geckos but am terrified of insects. I still love my lil guy tho!
I think you are saying no cohab for my rescued 2 😂 i just dont wanna make them sad bc they have been together for 9 yrs 😅 but im gonna see if i can sex them first of all thanks for an amazing update on the care guide you are amazing ❤
happy to help
My daughter almost got leopard geckos but we had some big family changes and got crested geckos.
❤Thank You ❤
Super Giants👆🏻size matters.
hahahaha
Did you say "Twix and stones?" Lol 😂 Freudian or intentional? 😂😂😂❤
Hahaha I caught it in the edit and just left it
I saw your interview about cohabbing on Animals at Home yesterday, and I'm confused by this controversy. In Sweden (which has criticized American husbandry for years, especially with racks and tiny enclosures), cohabbing geckos is nothing controversial at all. It's completely normal, as is cohabbing non-cannibalistic snakes (same species).
It's nothing to do with facts, its feelings. People pick teams and die on the hill even if they don't understand the logic.
Please do an updated African fat tail care guide!
I'll see what I can do
@ 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks for the awesome video!
Also, how do you reply to my comments so fast? I look away for 5 seconds to see if Taylor Swift has announced reputation tv, and you've alright responded.
(Im excited for reputation because it's Taylor's snake album) 🐍
Taylor Swift is getting swifties into the reptile community and speaking for reptile rights!
Taylor told me you’d want a fast reply
Really? 😂
Please make a leopard boa care guide
I am planning on getting a new Leo in just over a week, I am almost done with their enclosure going for a bio active 4x2x2
Edit- please show us a video of that first Leo cage you showed I am dying for inspiration
How do you set up the automated lighting? For day/night
Day 1 of asking for your opinion on what would go well in a 24 by 18 by 36
I made a whole video about this, enjoy
can we get an updated one for Created geckos too please!?!
Yep
Hey, Adam could you do one of these for bearded dragons?
I have :)
Hey I need to know what substrate mix should I use for my western hog nose snake because people keep on telling me different things
check out my hognose care guide :)
Littlefoot. Adam is a Land Before Time fan!
Ok fiiinnneee we can get a leopard gecko.... lol
Hahaha
are you going to the 16 feb expo Adam
yep! come say hi
Same 💩 I use for all of mine
Nice
I axtuqlly bought my Gecko Bubbles rom PetCo cause i cant find ant breeders or expos where i live. I payed $40 and he turned out to be a giant so that is pretty Wicked
awesome!
I’m thinking of getting into owning a leopard gecko and I was wondering wether I could make a bioactive enclosure by using a layer of soil and then a layer of bark as that is what my local reptile shop does but I’m not sure if it would simply be better also for the purposes of enrichment to use a mixture of soil and play sand instead
And I was also wondering if plants were necessary for a bioactive enclosure
can you do an abronia care guide?
what should the upper limit of the surface temperature of the basking spot be? I have a slate stone under a halogen bulb and the laser picks up a pretty large range of temps from one corner to the other on the stone, just wanna make sure its warm enough but not gonna burn the little guy
Keep it under 105 for sure
@@WickensWickedReptiles awesome thank you !
So all I know is ball pythons mainly, I love all reptiles but bps are the ones I keep and know a ton of, in the bp world I can say some of the most popular and expensive morphs as of now are combos with desert ghost like desert ghost clown or piebald, other popular genes are lavender albino, and clowns, so in the leopard gecko community what are some of the coolest or most expensive leopard geckos
So would you mix the sand that’s in the chewy link with the coconut stuff or is that for a different type of gecko?
Yep I mix the plays and with the coco coir
What about albino geckos What kind of lightning and heat do you recommend
The exact same
I got my Leo recently and he’s very cute but he’s not been eating much and he’s been a bit skittish so I was just wondering what to do
Let’s do bearded dragons next!!
Hello there new to leapord geckos. Just recently got one. Question is I was reading that they like one side to to hot for Basking like 95 and higher and other side like 70. For this I have a heat pad set at 70 with a thermostat on one side. And on the other side I have aheat lamp with no thermostat on heat lamp and hit has a zoo med daylight blue reptile bulb 💡 is this ok or not. Also the pet store didn't really give me much info on how much to feed and she's only about 4 in Long. Any info would be appreciated thanks so much
Can you do one for bearded dragons?
I have, three times, enjoy
❤
