this is the Hang Playing Hedge Monkeys, live at the Edinburgh festival yesterday on the 28th of aug 09
these guys are brilliant!
the Hang is a Swiss instrument Handmade by a couple, who produce only a certain amount each year, they are a great way to relax and enjoy yourself!
enjoy i know i did!
Oh and these guys also have a CD so if you get in touch with them on myspace im sure they could arrange to send one out to you :)
I don't get why so many people look at a video of someone expressing and displaying their form of art, then you talk about how they look? Close your eyes, not your mind. I think this is awesome. Love it guys

I'm surprised you've asked this question as the answer is very straight forward and it's essentially because nacasism is rampant in modern society where $ and your looks speak loudest and the easiest way to make money is being good looking and filming yourself doing absolutely nothing relevent.
This doesn't even mean you have to be born good looking because you can surgically ulter yourself to be better looking and then film yourself doing whatever.
they both look hella drippy, and their skills are nothing short of amazing
It's street performers like these guys, that keep the real spirit of music alive. I had never heard of the hang drum, until I saw this video. It's absolutely amazing!!
it's so sad they didn't make them more available, more accessible. It's an extraordinarily beautiful instrument. There very easily would have been a musical revolution if it hadn't been so elite.
I was mesmerised by these guys when i came across them playing in Bath in 2011. Bought the CD and have loved their music ever since.
What an addictive sound. I am drawn to the haunting beautiful sound of these talented musicians and those amazing instruments.
It is not enough to watch this just one time. This is wonderful talent!

those drums can produce unique sound that is for sure I have seen a few different versions but I like these better

I think the notes on these instruments are all from one pentatonic scale instead of an entire scale. This means that whenever they improvise it will sound good because notes in the same pentatonic scale easily flow together and can be mixed simply to form chords, motifs, etc. The reason each video sounds the similar is because there is only a finite number of catchy motifs and good chords to come up with in one pentatonic scale.

We have similar stuff in India but it is made up of clay , called kadaum in Tamil language
So we finally caught a couple of flying saucers and decided to play them. The aliens inside had no idea.

It's extremely annoying that they don't make these anymore.. Like their instrument is some given right and only certain people can play it. Even when they were selling it you could only write letters to the makers (posted, no emails) and travel to Europe to recieve one.. Rather ignorant.
Nice one guys nice to see the bottom of the heng utilized you can get some awesome sounds from underneath been playing hand percussion for 45 years now like I said Nice one guys .

The bells are to keep a beat, if you play percussion, you'd know that percussion is a pattern, and the pattern needs to be on time, the bells keep the pace
tokisic tru If you play percussion you shouldn't need to keep the beat past the first few measures--the bells kill this performance.
tokisic tru Yeah but bells like those are the worst kind of way to keep the pace, usually if you have to do it you do it with an instrument that can give out a clear, single sound, like for example a cowbell or claves, this sounds way too "messy", it kind of fucks up everything..and plus it ruins the song a bit because it doesn't really fit well with the sound of hang drums.
This makes my flute look boring
Flutes can make a wonderful addition to the hang!

Daniel Waples seems a litle bit angry with the blond guy, or it´s just me? I think he cant follow the rythm of Waples. They are better in their own ways.
