it does really, not the original K2, but more of a "modified" one as stated in Edwards history.

Just to let everybody know, because I said the steam locomotive looks exactly like Edward the blue engine.
The truth is if you have an original copy of the book The Three Railway engines, Edward looks like a different-looking with a really tall funnel and a big dome on top of his boiler. A lot of people claim that the steam locomotive they are using to say of what Edward is, he basically looks like one of the 8 older steam locomotives the Furness Railway K2s. But mainly on the first original book of the three Railway engines of the Railway Series, because if you look at Edward on those original illustrations he was completely different. And looked exactly one of the original 8 older steam locomotives, the Furness Railway K2s.
But then when the Rev W awdry and the Publishers was displeased with the original illustrations, when the three Railway engines was first published. They brought in a different artist and illustrator to provide better Quality and better looking scenery, The View and making the engine characters look more realistic. Even though they were a little cartoony, but still the way the artist as an illustrator did it was really good, and of course it was the artwork and I think still to this day the artwork that children appreciate.
Because not only the artwork was cartoony, and had realistic Basics throughout the creativity of the illustrations. But the Publishers said that they were really friendly artwork, so no wonder children appreciated it. The illustrations and artwork that were done by C Regional Dobby.
Anyway when C Regional Dobby took over as the illustrator, after the disapproval of the original artwork from the first publish books of the three Railway engines. Of course he made Gordon look more realistic, and looking like a real A3 Pacific steam locomotive. He even made Henry look more realistic, making Henry to look like a real big steam locomotive almost twice the size as Gordon. With Henry's original steam locomotive design, that hardcore Thomas fans and probably the Awdry family claim for Henry's original steam locomotive design to be a mix between an A1 Pacific and a C1 Atlantic. (And yes until the book Henry the Green Engine, C Regional Dobby redesign Henry to look like a 5MT black 5 steam locomotive.)
But anyway unlike the original design of Edward the blue engine the Furness Railway K2, from the original illustrations of the first published three Railway engines book. Because from those illustrations it made Edward to look like a older looking steam locomotive, with a really tall funnel and a big dome on the top of his boiler. But anyway that was Edwards original design, from the original first published three Railway engines storybook, with the original illustrations and the original design of Edward.
Because when C Regional Dobby took over later on, he gave a really different design for Edward. So not only we see it from the original C Regional Dobby artwork and illustrations, from the books of the three Railway engines to Percy the small engine. And then later on the design of Edward from those illustrations and artwork, continued with the other books later on. But the design of Edward made by C Regional Dobby, was improved for the TV show of Thomas and Friends. From the model animation to the current CGI animation.
So if you look at both the TV show both model and CGI, and the original railway series storybooks. Edward with his current looking steam locomotive design, looks exactly like this steam locomotive from this video.
So I should say Edwards original steam locomotive design from the ill-fated original illustrations and artwork, when the three Railway engines was first published back in 1945. Was based on one of the eight older steam locomotives Furness Railway K2s which no longer exist.
But Edward's secondary and current design from C Regional Dobby's illustrations and artwork, for The Railway Series books later on. along with the other books of other illustrations and artwork, of Edward's secondary and current design later on, and the TV show. That secondary and current design of Edward the blue engine, looks exactly like this steam locomotive from this video the LSWR T9 steam locomotive.
Edwards original design was supposed to be the Furness Railway K2 steam locomotive, but now Edward looks like the LSWR T9 steam locomotive.
Even though the Furness Railway K2 steam locomotives are supposed to be older then LSWR T9 steam locomotives, but the K2 steam locomotives no longer exist because all eight of them have been scrapped. I guess so far the oldest steam locomotive in England is the LSWR T9 steam locomotive, and I guess the steam locomotive is perhaps the oldest locomotive in all of the UK

John trainfan101 An engine can have any livery its owner wants. As far as I'm aware, there are no restrictions on the colour of privately-owned railway rolling stock.
In my opinion, it is utterly appalling to present a unique, historic locomotive in a livery which represents that of a second or third owner.
I want to see it as it was when Webb unveiled it, not how it was on its way to scrapping.

    • @richardharrold9736
      @richardharrold9736 6 років тому +1

Webb? Drummond, you mean. Webb locos, ironically, wore exactly the same livery as this - black with red and white lining. Where do you think it came from? Riddles was a Crewe man through and through. BTW, LSWR livery on this loco would be inauthentic unless the superheater, extended smokebox and stovepipe chimney were removed...

the reason why it could be famous is that it is a 4-4-0 and thanks to a certain E2 painted blue, the young enthusiast take for Edward, plus it could also be that long tender, who knows. But everyone is talking about Edward just because that they are both 4-4-0s, which is like saying that a K1 looks like a mini Henry

Another thing I would like to know, even though in this video we see only one LSWR T9 steam locomotive completely restored and in operation.
Can anyone tell me if there is a few more T9 steam locomotives completely restored and in operation, in some Railway Museum and a few British Heritage Railways in the UK ?
I really want to know if there is a few more T9 steam locomotives out there in England, because I'm really hoping if it's not just one.
I'm also hoping if one of the few remaining T9 steam locomotives, can be repainted blue and used as Edward the blue engine. So it could be able to join one of the Tank Engine replicas of Thomas, for a Day Out With Thomas event for the Railway Museum and British Heritage Railways in England.
After all visiting a Day Out With Thomas event at a British Railway Museum, or a British Heritage Railway. Cannot be complete with just Thomas, the event also needs to include some of the other characters, like Edward, Gordon, Henry, James, Percy, Toby and even Duck, Donald and Douglas, Oliver and Emily. That has to be the idea for future Day Out With Thomas events throughout England and perhaps the entire UK.
However they need to find remaining big and little steam locomotives, and turn them into these characters. To be specifically used for a British Day Out With Thomas event, and the steam locomotives need to look exactly like of what the characters are actually based on

Probably because she's an inside cylinder, inside frame 4-4-0 with those large splashers. Apart from that, the T9's have near-direct lineage to the Caledonian Dunalastair's, which are arguably the most elegant 4-4-0's ever to run in Britain. In the case of 120, she's probably popular for the way she looks in general.
