    Most other TED-Ed videos are like "this" and "that", stuff, but this is more like "me" and personal experience. Cool! Congrats, dude.

    Being an astronaut is a huge sacrifice.

    • @bilibili68
      @bilibili68 8 років тому +11

      +Mearc I don't see how it's a sacrifice? No one is forcing them to do anything. You can't be sacrificing something when you are voluntarily agreeing to risk your life when you don't have to.

    • @jasonimhof5035

      +bilibili68 So People on the Police Force are not sacrificing their time and partially lives to keep us safe - just because they aren´t being forced to do it? If you are forced to do something, then it´s not a sacrifice it´s being blackmailed. But I guess you have a different understanding of sacrifice - Definition from Webster: Sacrifice - the act of giving up something that you want to keep especially in order to get or do something else or to help someone

    • @bilibili68
      @bilibili68 8 років тому +7

      4Givenbyhim1 well, based on that definition I stand corrected. They are sacrificing something. Although not for us, but rather for their own enjoyment/satisfaction/financial gain.

    • @persephone2706
      @persephone2706 5 років тому +3

      They didn't though. That was media sensationalism. Listen to him recount what happened. They were complaining about the workload, but they didn't turn off coms, they just forgot to communicate at the time they were supposed to. There are also 84 instances of communication in the transcripts for the day they supposedly muintied.
      I was super interested in it, a space mutiny! But alas, history isn't that.

    • @lesnyk255
      @lesnyk255 4 роки тому

      The Apollo 7 "mutiny" preceded Skylab 4's by almost 6 yrs. Donn Eisle & Walt Cunningham never received flight assignments after that (though Eisle was assigned to the AS-10 backup crew). Schirra had planned to retire anyway.
