I modeled a plate and then changed the pocket to fit my seed, printed a few and they work great. I did find that seed you buy now isn’t sorted for size and that causes skips and doubles.
Yeah I had the same problem when planting corn this year. Ended up changing the front sprocket to space the drops out a little more so seeds weren't so close together. I think you'll run into that problem no matter what planter you have unless it's finger pickuo

Needing a plate to plant sunflowers
They never made a sunflower plate specifically so you'd have to match up the seed to the flat corn plates.
