Wow. I can't believe I'm old enough now where there's adults that didn't grow up with two keys for their cars. It was just embedded in our brains that the round key was doors, trunk, and glove box, and the square key was ignition. My '77 has the alarm key switch on the fender as well, but that's a Corvette only feature. My daily driver truck is two keys. It's just normal for me. Lol
Yeah you’re just old. I’ve had cars with keyless entry since I was a Kid. Doesn’t mean I don’t love older cars tho.
Because that transmission does not have over drive so it's a 3 speed automatic, if it had a over drive it would say D
Thank you for posting. I learned a couple of things today myself!
The Stingray name was dropped when they changed the rear design of the car and added the bubble window. in 78
My ‘77 was the first year they took the badge off. It was a strange transition year between the ‘68-‘76 and the newer ‘78-‘82. Mine is a early ‘77 so it has the tilt and telescoping steering wheel, which has parts exclusive to that year (they changed it again in ‘78 apparently so I hope it never fails!) and the factory security operated by a key in front of the driver’s side front fender badge. I hope to get that working again but a new harness I costs a grand. As far as I am concerned, the ‘77 should be a Stingray because the interior and exterior style is the same as the years before. But I am grateful for the explanation here- most people don’t know why the Stingray name disappeared and this makes sense! Thanks for the video!
Haha thank you for watching! There is so much debate over the stingray badge and meaning behind I thought I would throw my 2cents in haha. Hope I didn’t create even more debate lol
PS: you must have a beauty and from the sounds of it, a very unique one too
Bro i cant wait to get mine. Everything’s possible.
I like your Videos for '79 C3‘s - i'm owner of '79 to… 😎
You love or hate them…
I‘m a Lover… 👍🏼
No cup holders and 2 keys was very common even up into the mid 80s. Your round key also unlocked the glove box. Stingray was dropped after the 1976 model. I have told my wife that after we get our new garage built this summer is going to be a first or second generation F Body or a pre 1977 C3.
Sweet! I will have to make a stop at your garage to see the beauty in person!
Best of lucks on your search.
great video! thanks for making it
i love that color and also a great video
Nice video!
My 1974 has no glove box or key for the T tops
That round key also unlocks the lock on the spare tire
My 81’ corvette has cupholders that slide out of the bottom of the center console, never thought much about it but now im wondering if its not an original center console or what cuz thats weird.. btw they sell cupholders that go off the sides of the parking brake thatll fit perfectly if u really need them
I have seen those cupholders (e brake cup holder) but I dont like them as they intervene with a safety part of the car ( the e brake)
As for yours, your are lucky because they are not a standard feature at least not to my knowledge. Im really interested in seeing them.
Stingray name was dropped after the 1976 model. 77 and up lost the stingray badge
Are the batteries unique? Because the battery is in the passenger compartment, is the battery vented?
The keys. 😂😂😂😂
Back in the day my neighbor had one and the hood was always up. Those Vets up into the early 90`s were JUNK and i used to be a Chevy guy. Toyota.
Cup holders are for millennials. Real car guys Drive. Stingray stopped in 1976
Wrong seats, rims for a 79. There could be more. This was not a well taken care of vette
Beg to disagree, the chairs are a match to the car and the rims have been coated in black (the rims originally being chrome) although the car has seen better days, I keep all original papers from the owner.
Could you be more specific? I am trying to determine what were the correct wheels and seats but I am having difficulty finding the right wheels?
@@79corvette I would go to eBay and purchase for a few dollars the original brochure for the car which will show what is original
Serious you did no research on the era of vehicle before you bought it. When you you said cup holder I laughed. Bet you think milk come from a carton from a store. Oh BTW I still remember when gas was 22 cents a gallon... LMAO
True that, I saw it, liked it, and bough it then I found out where milk actually comes from haha!
22cents wow!!!! We can barely wish somewhere under $3 now days
Among classic car owners, the two keys are normal. Stingray (one word)was used on 69-76 Vettes, 63-67 Vettes were Sting Rays (tow words). No Sting Rays in 68 and none after 76.
