thank you for posting this excellent movie. it's a pity the new generation hardly knows these classic movies especially the ones who show so intelligent and subtle the racist problem.
@SgtPlmFryWow. Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee not even listed. Must have been one of their first movies too. Truly a hidden gem. Impressive debut for Poitier. Widmark got top billing,but Poitier was the star.
So, if Lilies of the Field was released about 1963, then Poitier had been in films 13 years before wining an Oscar. I didn't realise his career started this far back. Also, didn't Poitier look ageless after returning from a 10 year break in front of the camera for 'Shoot To Kill/Deadly Pursuit'.
