"Let the player exponentially multiply, then stack, jump boosts" sounds like something parallel-universe Bethesda decided to lean into, instead of trying to stamp out.
I mean, in Morrowind, they give you a scroll right at the start of the game that lets you jump right across the game map in one go. Admitedly, you can't land safely yet, but it's still there as a mechanic to show you what's possible.
I'd have made 8 batteries too, I can't lie This game looks insanely good, I 100% will be buying it Edit: The boosted jumps absolutely were better than the battery powered abuse of power
I kind of want to buy the game just to encourage the devs, even though I don’t think I’d have as much fun playing it as I did, say, Portal - I just love that they made it, I love that it exists, I want to say “yes, keep making stuff like this! 😊” (Also: inane comment for the algorithm etc etc)
@@james14294 I'm not a game dev and it doesn't seem that hard, the 2D photos are just a flat face of a 3D model you are placing. You are playing copy paste world editor but you can only do a small cube at a time via the camera tool. The arty painting style worlds are just a filter on top. And the entire game is based around this single gimmick.
@@kommodore6691 yea... your oversimplification of this is odds on not even remotely accurate. given that someone that literally studied this for their degree said this was impressive, there's literally no way you're right.
+1 for a livestream of this, please. I've had this one squirreled away in my wishlist for a minute, and seeing this post prompted me to grab my Steam Deck, press a few buttons and jump into it myself. Thanks Jon!
0:58 reminds me of the moment in Inception where Adrienne is testing her abilities in the dream-world. Cool. Dear God, tell me there's that famous M. C. Escher painting in this.
Mmmmm looks like lots of fun. Yes, livestream please! That cat made me think Cheshire Cat when I saw it. Also makes me want to play Monument Valley again, another slightly-warped game.
This is like the developer played Narbacular Drop/Portal while under the effects of drugs and thought "but what if the ENVIRONMENT shifted instead of the player!"
that 8x jump reminded me of what i did in morrowind with going up for over 15 minutes using levitate and icarus flight scrolls. literally couldn't even find my way back to the island, and literally took me 30 minutes to fall out of the sky. was kind of hilarious.
Dear Jon, Please check out a game called Meet Your Maker! Would love to see what you make of a Base Builder/Raider , Doom-style FPS / Strategy game! That probably doesn’t explain it all too well but I’m loving it so far and it feels very much up your street 😄 Love you byw
You know it's a good puzzle game when after you finish a level you don't go 'yay I solved it' but 'Fuck, the next one is going to be more complicated than this'😂
Jon is losing his touch after Oblivion. All that jumping at his disposal, and he didn't even mention the possibility of just jumping on top of the pillar and grabbing the battery.
This feels like a great game to play if you like that kind of game but not one that should be letsplayed because the brain bending awesome comes from doing it yourself. If you merely see ity done then it's just sort of like "Oh yeah, that's clever." Not my kind of gamer but I hope the video encourages people who want this sort of game to buy it. These devs are clearly fantastic and they deserve money
Any game where you can break the mechanics but not break the game or the fun is a truly well designed game
Even long after the Oblivion Playthrough, Jon still craves the Acrobatics build
This may be the most creative game concept I’ve ever seen. Well done, Devs.
I'm 100% down for a livestream of this.
Also, Claire's thumbnail game is on point.

Jon, making multiple batteries: “I’ve gone mad with power.”
Was… was that a pun?
Currently, I’m positive it should have been.
Shocking, innit?
I'd have made 8 batteries too, I can't lie
This game looks insanely good, I 100% will be buying it

With the mega jump, I do wonder what would happen if you took a birds eye photo of the entire stage
"The tamagotchi lets me blast open space-time" Jon 2023
Can I just say, great thumbnail. A real winner.
20:34 Never has going "Mad" with power seemed so literal
Jon reacts to jump height and run speed like a cat to catnip. Doesnt matter the game. He just want to go "weeeeeee"!
Is that what rejecting other people's reality and substituting your own looks like?
aaah, Now I want to watch something with Adam Savage :D
@@mrchackerify I want to watch Adam Savage play this game and say it over and over lol
Jon wants big jump
@@ryttyr14 I understood that reference
As somewhat of a game dev this is incredibly impressive
As somewhat of a not game dev this is still incredibly impressive
@@donovanfaust3227 What I mean is even with game dev experience and a degree, thinking of how youd do this and get it to work smoothly, im impressed

Oh man, speedrunners are going to go wild with this game.
Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?
Glad John did a video for this game, it's awesome
Okay... The double jump shinanigans were quite funny. Good job.
1:03 Done, sold.
I'm sorry, Jon. Five minutes in and I can't watch the rest of the video because I just want to play this now.
Remember to come back after you've played around with it yourself, to see just what silly shenanigans Jon gets up to in it. ;)
oh this is wonderful. thank you for playing the weird experimentals
Absolutely interested in this as a livestream. I may pick it up just to give the devs their money's worth as well.
+1 for a livestream of this, please. I've had this one squirreled away in my wishlist for a minute, and seeing this post prompted me to grab my Steam Deck, press a few buttons and jump into it myself. Thanks Jon!
Oh this is going to melt poor jon's brain xD
Going to need to do this on stream qnd call in puzzle solving subcontractor Claire.
Jon has finally found the ultimate boing
You're not Jessie, Jessie is talking to you.
0:58 reminds me of the moment in Inception where Adrienne is testing her abilities in the dream-world. Cool. Dear God, tell me there's that famous M. C. Escher painting in this.
Id love to see this in a live stream
the amount of ways you can solve things between how i would do it vs how you did it oh its great fun
I really want to see what a jump with 16 powerups would be like
So it's Portal + Superliminal + that "TimeSlides" episode of Red Dwarf?
I'm stopping this video at 4:30 seconds because I need to play this game now
Unlimited supply of n-dimensional batteries = Mad with power
That tracks.
Also yes, please livestream this game.
"The real world... well, this could be an illusion too" - it is Jon. It is.
This is a quintessential Many A True Nerd game!
I never thought Mega Boing was just a warm up exercise.
Mmmmm looks like lots of fun. Yes, livestream please!
That cat made me think Cheshire Cat when I saw it.
Also makes me want to play Monument Valley again, another slightly-warped game.
Oh it's definitely a homage to the Cheshire Cat
Ah yes, the classic "Activate MEGA-Boing!" moment.
34:06 Oh, you gonna love Morrowind then.
Holy shit....
This game is actually brilliant.
A perception game?
aha...
Kids, don't do drugs, you do not need them, you need this game.
I mean...could always do both.
One of the best video thumbnails I have seen in a long time :D
I instantly bought this game. It is perfect for me to just shut my brain off and relax for a while.
The pun is unintended but the 4x jump was the highest point of the video, i cracked 😂
This game looks like it's completely bananas.
This is like the developer played Narbacular Drop/Portal while under the effects of drugs and thought "but what if the ENVIRONMENT shifted instead of the player!"
Please do a livestream of this game! I would love to see more of it because dang I enjoyed this playthrough!
Sweet jesus christ on a cracker. I have no idea how one would even conceptualize this, let alone program it...
Amazing concept for a game
7:20 no jon, its in fact looking VERY hot
7:20 that's just NYC right now
I'm calling it at 19 minutes, this will be on Jon's top games of the year list
Wow, this is a trippy game.
That isn't dystopian, Jon. That's just the current state of New York's sky thanks to Canada.
Feels like Portal in the best possible way.
I need this in VR

Heck yes to a livestream of this!
I'll most likely get this game regardless but watching Jon's brain explode in a livestream sounds fun
Getting serious "Witness" vibes from the art style
Dident realize this was taking place in New York
Have to say, not sure what I was expecting but a NASA space program was not it. Game seems really cool, may have to check it out.

Yes finish this please!
Playing the demo and spawning a new battery by photographing the existing one, I was like "ohhhh yeah this is my jam" 🤭
I am at 17 seconds into the video and it's an insta like... now let's watch the rest and see if I made the right choice here.
You know it's a good puzzle game when after you finish a level you don't go 'yay I solved it' but 'Fuck, the next one is going to be more complicated than this'😂
Paused this after 10 minutes and bought it.
Game good
This premise seems sketchy but I think I'll give it a shot.
Wait, it Cait's Voice Actor 3Blue1Brown? Because that would make sense for a geometry-based game >.
Yeah not surprising that bridge breaks in the beginning. There's not even the vague resemblance of bridge ballast!
"I reject your reality and substitute my own!"
missed opportunity to duplicate the entire level while falling
I would love to see you finish this!
This game is super trippy! 😵💫

Cait = c 'AI' t
this would be good for a day where you dont have very long to do a livestream (like you need to turn in early.)
This is giving me Gorogoa vibes.
This is peak gaming
I beg of you to make a series or at least a VOD of this game Jon! 😁
Saw real civil engineer play it day before. Seems very nice, gonna buy.

Is there a VR version...?
This is kind of what portal 3 was due to be.
Cheshire Cat Jon!
strong Myst vibes!
