To borrow a phrase, “ I am gobsmacked!” Sitting here on this snowy winter morning in Canada watching your first videos from one year ago, I’m so impressed and amazed at the work you have taken on. Your progress is unbelievable, your vision just stunning, and your energy possibly inexhaustible! Hats off to you Sue!

Wow thank you. I had to watch back the video to remind myself what I’d recorded. It was a tough watch as I was wearing braces on my teeth at the time and I wasn’t particularly confident in my early videos. Plus I didn’t record in 4k then either so the production isn’t as good as I get now, but when I receive such wonderful comments like yours it certainly gives me the encouragement to continue. Thanks again 😊

Thank you that’s a lovely comment, the purple foxglove has to be my favourite UK native flower. Thanks again for watching!

Thank you 🙏. I do have a long term plan of what I would like to accomplish, hopefully this year I can complete a few of the larger projects such as the bog garden.

I’m a new subscriber and following from the very start but I’d definitely be adding some rambling roses into the trees and if there’s enough light anywhere plant a wisteria that will grow up the trees as well as they’ll add some colour at height for you. Your garden looks an amazing project and I’m sure it really develops into something amazing over time, not that it isn’t already!!!! 👍🏻

Hello and welcome. Your watching old videos so I’ll apologise now as my presentation, video and sound quality was very poor in the early videos I recorded. Hopefully I have improved on all counts in recent months. Yes great suggestion regarding the rambling roses, I’ve just got to find the perfect spot (tree). Thank you for subscribing it’s very much appreciated 🙏😊

What a beautiful property! The foxgloves were my favorite part! It's my dream to have a garden full of them someday!
Would you please share the UA-camr who told you about the dead hedge? I had not heard the term stumpery before, but I love the idea! I do have wood pieces in the rock area up against our house, but not amongst the plants.

Hello and thank you for watching my video. The UA-cam channel I subscribe to is Wild your garden with Joel Ashton, he’s very well known in the UK and informs and advises on how to encourage wildlife into your garden. Hope you tune in again 😊

Your garden is more than big enough to require a full time staff !!

Loved this tour and I will be so excited to see your stumpery!! I really think you will enjoy creating it. Mine is truly my favorite spot in the garden. I have been adding some things to the stumpery as of late....astilbes, caladiums and some new ferns called arborvitae ferns which I had never seen before. I am trying to expand it a little and make it look good from all sides. The bank side border is breathtaking with all the foxgloves! Hosta alley looks beautiful, too. Is there anything special that you do to keep the deer from eating the hostas and hydrangeas?

I’m on the lookout for interesting gnarly pieces of wood and I’ve placed a few stumps in the spot where I intend to create it but it doesn’t look very impressive yet. My hubby thought it was a bonfire so I’ve got a long way to go 😊. I’ve never heard of arborvitae ferns and I love to see caladiums when I watch gardening videos in the US but I haven’t seen them used over here outdoors. I don’t do anything to actively discourage deer or rabbits, I’m sure they will destroy plants at some point I just think I’ve been lucky so far. You made me think, it could be because the hostas and majority of the hydrangeas are in the part of the quarry which is very open and no cover for them but maybe I’m just being optimistic.

@@thequarrygardener5578 I know what you mean….I took before and after pics of my stumpery and the before pics are pretty drab but trust me, when the plants are added it gets transformed into something amazing!! I too have been lucky as far as deer damage…they did eat a few of my hosta leaves this spring but for the most part they have left them alone. The worst has been my camellias. I want to plant hydrangeas so badly but am a little apprehensive about it. May just have to take a chance and see what happens!
